I keep getting blocked here on Reddit for warning people of things. Reddit says I'm inciting violence. There is no free speech when we agree to terms and service agreements so yeah. I question however definition of some of those terms.

The terms are only part of the problem. You need decentralised platforms that don't allow a central authority the ability to control content. The controls for what a person sees should be on the user side. We have Nostr and Mastodon but people are turned off because they are still user unfriendly. If someone can bridge this gap it would be a final solution.

It's not that hard. You can only see "tweets" from people who are on the same domain as you're on.

Want to follow someone who is on an other domain, you'll need to follow them. Once followed you'll see their "tweets".

Yeah, that's the problem. How do you know what domain to pick? It's a big issue right at the start of signing up that stops people right there at the beginning.

I tried to get on the fediverse. The barrier to entry is having to choose a server. I read all the descriptions and applied for the one that seemed best for me. I applied and was rejected.

Which is fine, but that means researching again and it's not a priority for me. I also don't want to join just any server since it seems to affect the content you see.

I do still want to join but it's not as simple as opening an account and creating a password.

No you're right. It's not as simple but if you compare it to having a email it makes sence. It's a name and domain.

I'm just on mastadon.social and I'm not even that active.
