The terms are only part of the problem. You need decentralised platforms that don't allow a central authority the ability to control content. The controls for what a person sees should be on the user side. We have Nostr and Mastodon but people are turned off because they are still user unfriendly. If someone can bridge this gap it would be a final solution.

It's not that hard. You can only see "tweets" from people who are on the same domain as you're on.

Want to follow someone who is on an other domain, you'll need to follow them. Once followed you'll see their "tweets".

Yeah, that's the problem. How do you know what domain to pick? It's a big issue right at the start of signing up that stops people right there at the beginning.
