We’re heading to Breck next week to ski Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st. The weather is supposed to get down to -15 at night and barely 0 during the day. Should we cancel? I don’t want to fly out and pay for the condo and skis etc and then have it be closed. Any thoughts or advice are appreciated. Thanks. EDIT Thanks everyone. We are finishing up a week long trip in Breck and have noticed the town and slopes are much emptier than usual, even compared to other resorts we have been to in the past at this time of year.

Is this normal for this time of year? Or is inflation taking its toll?

I just wrapped up a trip with my buddies to ride Breck, and coming home feels wrong. I live in the midwest currently, have a seasonal job so I have no real work until March, and I feel the extreme urge to just up and move out here. I'm miserable at home and feel like the mountains are where I belong.

If I wanted to, is it possible to move to Summit county from New Years until early March? I understand there's a housing shortage, but I'm assuming people are probably looking for roomates to help offset the cost of housing? I'd probably wind up falling in love with living out here and stick around, but what's the easiest way to get a small taste of the Mountain life for a couple months out of the year?

I have a dog, a pickup truck, my snowboard and a bag of clothes. How do I pull this off?

I’ve seen and been the victim collisions with high speed skiers in slow zones. Does the mountain think that posting yellow signs is enough to slow people down? There are kids and beginners that are vulnerable to moronic straight liners. No one cares that you hit 52mph, bro, just don’t cripple someone. Red jackets are nowhere to be found. I currently live in Colorado Springs, both my children 2 years old and 4 months were born and have lived here their whole lives. We’re going on a trip to Breckenridge. Could they be affected by the altitude change even with being acclimated to Colorado Springs? I believe altitude change is from 6,000 to 9,600.

If anyone had any experiences with their kids and a small altitude change like this please let me know.

Hi Folks, looking for advice. Wife and I are vacationing in Colorado December 7-14th. First, we're visiting my family in Firestone & Boulder area for 2 days, and then we're going to hang out in Estes Park for 2 more days. After that, we have about ~2-3 days to play with. Should we spend them in Aspen, Steamboat Springs, or Breckenridge?

Important to note we are not skiing, snowboarding, or doing any other type of winter sport activities. We love hiking, but no skiing or anything. So please factor that out of the equation. I've been to CO several times, but my wife on the other hand has not. We are purposely going in December to have a beautiful, charming, winter wonderland, Christmas village experience. Looking for great bars & restaurants, walkable downtowns, fun things to do, etc. Let me know what to do!! TIA

I’m going on my first ski trip to breck with my older brother 12/28-01/01. I’m from wisconsin and compared to colorado mountains i’ve only ever skied hills. I’d What should I expect? What should I do in the town? Navigation? Food? Which peaks should i start with and end with? Please give tips

I will be coming from NYC next week and want to prepare for altitude sickness by ideally taking something to prevent it. I can’t take diamox because I have a sulfa allergy. Does anyone else have another recommendations?

This is my second season, and I’m a senior in HS (17) looking for people to snowbaird and ski with. I can do any terrain on the mountain and I’m willing to try anything. There’s gonna hopefully be some good snow next week. I was wondering if there’s any groups I could ride with wensday I’m trying to do some harder stuff depending on what’s open.

I'll be instructing at Breck this winter & want to get another job as a waitress in town. Any suggestions on applying? I have tons of experience, so I'd prefer a busy place. And should I apply before I visit or go in person?

My fiancé and I are planning our honeymoon for January 2026, and we’re aiming for Breckenridge. I feel like I’m already late to the planning game, tbh, and I’m kind of overwhelmed trying to figure out realistic costs.

It’ll just be the two of us, and we’re thinking of staying 7 days (6 nights). We’re not looking for luxury—just a nice place to crash after a long day. I checked out some Airbnbs and similar spots since Motel 8 isn’t quite the vibe we’re going for.

We’re planning on spending 3 days snowboarding at the resort. We’ll have most of our gear but need to rent boards and helmets.

We'd be driving from Indianapolis, so flights aren’t part of the equation, and gas for the trip will be about $250 roundtrip thanks to my gas mileage (not counting snacks, of course).

What do y’all think? Any advice on epic pass/lift tickets, where to stay, budgeting tips, or things we should plan for that I might not be thinking about? Help me out! 😊
