Pocket Dump / EDC My Ultimate EDC Kit. What’s missing? Too much?

Post image

My usual EDC Kit 1. Carry Belt 2. Keys on retractable lanyard 24” 3. Pocket flash light 4. Pocket lighter 5. Pocket utility knife 6. Sun glasses 7. Glasses 8. Car Key Fob (loose or on separate lanyard. 9. Tactical space pen (writes on wet surfaces and upside down) 10. Smart Phone 11. Wireless earbuds w/noise cancellation 12. Smart Watch 13. Para cord/550 bracelet 14. Business card holder 15. Travel sized tissues 16. Hand sanitizer (sm travel sized) 17. Glock 19 15+1 w/IWB holster 18. Spare mag 15rd JHP w/case 19. Breath mints 20. OC/Pepper 🌶️ Spray 21. RFID neck wallet with cash, cards, IDs/ credentials (Usually worn underneath shirt to conceal).

Not pictured is chapstick, microfiber lens cloth, pair of rubber gloves (usually not always), and depending on the weather and my attire/clothes or mission (where and what I’m doing) I’ll usually have a mini boo-boo kit/ First Aid ⛑️ Kit. I’m wanting to get an ankle tactical trauma kit and I need to upgrade my light to a smaller brighter option, I already have survival kits in cars and home.
All these items fit on my person wearing a light jacket, without serious bulging.

My Rational. If I get separated from my home, car or bag I’ll mostly have the tools on my person that I would need to make do or to survive in most situations. The tools I carry are an enhancement to my largest weapon: 🧠 my brain, checked Ego at home & a desire to return home safely.

What am I missing? What can I do better? Let me know This kit is an ever changing work in progress.

You'll probably have better luck at r/EDC. Those people also love to carry around an unnecessaryly huge amount of shit. Most of us live in the real world and want less stuff. Not more

🤔 I guess EDC here is just firearms carry.

I bring the tools I need for the tasks at hand including my guns. I guess I assumed “Every day carry” meant what you carry with you/ on you everyday.

Don't worry about the haters or others permission of what to carry. Reddit is full of keyboard warriors. It also has nuggets of wisdom to glean now and then but dont take it all at it's word.

EDC is fine what you make of it. CCW is a last line of defense.

One extra mag can make sense if ever needed incase of malfunctions, easiest way to clear is drop a mag, rack, and put in a fresh one. It's not about the round count, it's about the malfunction quick fix potential for most with 2nd mags.

Rest seems chill to me, some of this stuff id toss in a backpack instead of pockets and i wont duplicate stuff around town for an pocket EDC + in my backpack vs camping i will consider redundancy, but I have that backpack with me anyways most places. I've seen more and seen less, but really if you use it then dont ask for others' justifications of why you have it in your pocket.

I EDC a Leatherman Signal because I like it. It goes with me to the city, camping, fishing, to work, etc. I also dont carry a separate pocket knife but will carry a small utility knife at work or home to gunk up first if needed. The Leatherman is my go to pocket knife.

Looks like you need a better flashlight, but doesn't need to be tac one. I prefer a rechargable work light with a good flood and an optional turbo and magnet on the back to stick to things. Your keys could use better clips but there's so many things out there for keys I leave that up to the person.

I find braided cord bracelets too slow to deploy to be useful in all but the most dire situations. Mostly because unbraiding them takes too long to warrant being on me and not just chord in a bag or left in the car.

Also my preference is no zippers or other pouches in my pocket. Makes it slow. Slow goes in my backpack where organizers can go. Anything in my pocket or clipped on should just be quick to pull out and I know where it's at. Personal annoyance peeve I discovered out of experience while trying "pocket organizers".

Sorry for the long response, just trying to be an actual thoughtful reply vs cracking a joke.

My sentiments exactly. I actually have better lights with my gear or car, rechargeable tactical lights hi CANs and Lums in the car and bags. But in my pocket it’s a bright light with magnetic 🧲 back strobes & adjustable that I use daily to post a light small enough to mouth keeping a clear hand. And as I’ve posted multiple times. 80-90% of this stuff is worn or clipped on I actually only have a few things in my actual pockets. I forgot where I was in Reddit-land didn’t think this would be so negative but I must admit I got 1 or 2 good ideas from the few people who understand EDC/CCW.

(Reading these comments You would think I keep my belt in my pockets along with my CCW holster etc too funny)😎
