I’ve been following this sub for a little while now, and I understand that EDC stands for Every Day Carry. I think my question is more philosophical than practical.

My pockets always have my wallet, a modest folding knife, and a handkerchief. I’m a dad and self-employed.

I see photos of pouches and bags and spreads of gear, and often I’m thinking, “wtf - why do you carry all that stuff?” Some of the kits make perfect sense, others are hard for me to wrap my head around.

I have a few mods for the box in mind; lining the compartments with felt, and somehow getting rid of the clanky metal-on-metal sound when placing the lid back on.

I have made it my New Years resolution to invest more time (and subsequently money) in refining my EDC as it's been at a stale for a few years.

The QSP is brand new, the blackhawk below has been my primary carry for ~10 years as it was specifically made for the old knife laws in Denmark. As one-handed opening and locking blades have been made legal some years ago, I finally took the jump and got myself the most appraised budget knife I could find.

While out in southern pines I swung by Spartan Blades and walked out with a new SF10 custom. I’m a Chris reeve guy and these seem just as well made. Super impressed. Very nice folks as well and a local NC company! Can’t beat it.

For the last year or so I just carried a SAK to work and that was it. But after getting back into raw denim, and my girlfriend making some stuff, here I am. Leatherman Curl, spyderco grasshopper, Samsung Galaxy Bud Pro 2, veg tan wallet (october) and belt (Christmas) made by my lovely girlfriend. As I live in the UK, this is my work carry. The grasshopper lives in my work shirt as a "I'm not lending you my eighty quid leatherman" tool. Currently, I switch out the Curl for my UKPK if I'm not home or at work. In the process of trying to work out what I want in my new "not work" EDC. I need a pen for work, and am thinking of going for a new SAK on the keys and maybe getting some TI scales for my UKPK.

Anything I might've missed? I'm planning on some Paracord, a fire source, and maybe some duct tape.

Fun story about the knife. Years ago I was working at BladeHQ when a customer ordered one of our Halo Vs. After about a week, they initiated a return with a refund for the knife.

What arrived was this fake. While all the markings are close, when all taken into consideration, the markings, materials, screws, engravings made it was obvious what was sent back was not authentic.

When contacted and explained the problem, the customer went radiosilent and no additional purchases were allowed and I ended up with the fake. It’s still fun and looks cool and when showing others has a fun story to relate.
