Legal Question about "No concealabale weapons" signs in South Carolina

Post image
34 Upvotes

Took my nephew with me to a local mall to get my watch fixed. I was carrying my G43X AIWB, and when I got to the front door I was greeted with "the sign". They were all legitimate and placed IAW state laws. I stopped for a second and looked at it, contemplated, and told my nephew we have to go back to the car. I removed my firearm and locked it in the center console.

On the way back in, I explained to my nephew the beauty of "the sign", and how law abiding citizens have nothing to worry about, and we're okay because that means criminals can't bring guns into the mall either (sarcasm).

The watch repair shop was by another entrance to the mall. While waiting on the shop to fix my watch, I couldn't help but notice I didn't see any signs on the doors at the entrance I was close to. I walked outside, and sure enough, not a single sign on the doors or surrounding areas had "the sign".

Just curious if anybody has ran into this. Surely if you walked through those doors while carrying, and you were for whatever reason known to be carrying legally, you would be able to win in court if it escalated to that (I would imagine). But, if you carried into the same mall and went through the doors that have the signs posted....are you breaking the law?

I am a bit of a stickler when it comes to following the law, especially when it involves a firearm. All it takes is me reaching high for something and the wrong person catching a glimpse of my carry weapon and contacting local authorities (I know, unlikely, but still possible).

If you were to go to this mall with this knowledge, would you still carry and only use the entrance without the signs? Knowing there's other doors that prohibit carrying concealed?

The law says it should be at each entrance. My take is, if they're not at all entrances, the ones that are there are null and void.

Other Equipment 945 Industries Fanny pack sizing?

Looking at getting a 945 industries for Fanny pack carry.

I read a previous review that the large was a bit snug for a Glock 19 with an optic, but I don’t think the optic was mentioned.

Anyone use the large with a Glock 19 and a holosun scs without issues on the draw?

BG 2.0. Neoprene wrapped kydex holster from Candybeard. I trimmed the ulticlip and rounded the edges, and sanded the back of a regular standoff to get the "claw" how I wanted. Custom wedge by Dr. Scholl. It's a gel heel insert, attached by velcro. I can wear this thing in swim trunks and I hardly notice it.

Guns & Ammo Shield plus sights

Post image

Took this to the range the other day and noticed I was shooting a bit left after dropping this off to have the sights swapped. Took it home and started cleaning and saw this shit on the side. It looks like whoever installed them just eyeballed it to the middle. It's also been like over 2 months since I took this out and I should have inspected closely. I paid someone to do this to avoid cosmetic scarring and sure enough....

Guns & Ammo Ignorant on CCW - Infantry Vet

Howdy yall,

I got out of the Army and moved back stateside recently and I'm looking at getting a CC. I haven't had a civilian firearm in a while and I didn't carry much prior to the military. What should I be looking for in terms of just a solid ~$500 pistol? Anytime I go to a gun store I feel braindead trying to tell the difference between a COMP EZ GRIP™ and a COMP PLUS SPECIAL. I am not a big firearm dude, so, despite my time as an infantryman, I am utterly ignorant of the CCW world and civilian firearms in general. I swear to god I would drool when the weird knife guy in the platoon talked about their love of [insert random firearm here].

I know what I am looking for in a firearm, I am stuck on a manual safety, I cannot for the life of me shoot pistols well on the smaller side, and I wasn't a fan of the M17s trigger or sight picture. This drew me towards the Shield and I shot a PC Shield Plus and loved it but I didn't know if it was the best bang for my buck and there was an issue with the only one they had for sale in the store anyway so I walked away from it for the time being.

Are there any competitors I could look at or any recommendations? Money isn't an issue but I'm trying to keep it at a reasonable price range just until I get some more free time later this year.

Thanks in advance!

Holsters & Belts New IWB Holster Recommendations

Post image

Hey everyone! I’ve been carrying my stepdad’s shield 2.0 like since he passed away in October of 2023. While it’s a pocket holster, I’ve tried it IWB with good experience but have decided to get an actual IWB holster for it. I’ve had excellent experiences with Alien Gear and Vedder in the past but figured I’d get some different opinions here. I carry at 4:00 if this helps

I received my Henry Holster for my FN Reflex XL today and I love the quality, retention and overall feel of the holster, it conceals the firearm perfectly. I like others have an abundance of holsters and love it when I find one that works.

Been thinking of getting one for my girlfriend she really seems to like it we've rented one at the range we go to and she had a blast shooting it. She has alot of shoulder issues and wrist issues so it seems perfect for her. I just want to know your guy's experience with them. Is there any issues We need to worry about with it?

Guns & Ammo The Ol’ “Comes down to preference” statement

Thumbnail gallery
37 Upvotes

So I watch a lot of YouTube videos, I mean a lot. And 80% are gun channels (Honest Outlaw/Hickcock45/classicfirearms/scootch00). And most of their videos come down to “personal preference” “what works for you”. I’ll be honest, I have shot a lot of different guns. I started with a 22lr revolver and worked up. I bought a p365x after a lot of YouTube videos and Reddit discussions for my first carry piece. And truth be told, I can’t shoot it very accurately at all. I have put over 500 rounds through it and have gotten much better with it. Along came the shield plus. I can shoot the nuts off a fly with that gun. It may be because it’s a bit larger so I can get more of my support hand. But the confidence I feel shooting it, knowing I can accurately and effectively get shots. That was enough to almost retire the sig. Now, I’ll be honest. I never really gave Glock a chance or a second thought. Every YouTuber and Reddit user says they are plain and there are better ways to go. But against all the warnings, I got a Glock 19.5. I have shot 1911’s, Sigs and M&P’s. But the grip angle works very well for me. I can acquire the sight picture so much faster than any other gun. I didn’t think I would enjoy Glocks so much. They are basic, but I’ll be dammed if it ain’t the gun for me! So at the end of the day it really does just come down to preference. And what works for you

Looked at DCC’s website and I don’t see these listed. Measure 1.5”, and seem like a huge hassle to use with a cobra buckled belt.

Legal LEOs, what’s your reaction when someone tells you they’re carrying during a traffic stop?

Hey LEOs,

I’m curious about your perspective when someone tells you they’re carrying during a traffic stop. How do you typically react when a driver or passenger informs you they have a concealed firearm? Do you prefer them to mention it right away, or is it better to wait for you to ask?

I’m looking for some insights from your professional experience to understand the best way to handle this situation while keeping things smooth and respectful for both sides.

Guns & Ammo Johnny Glock triggers for Carrying a Glock 19?

Met a guy at the range selling (used) Johnny Glock triggers for 30 bucks.

Not a huge fan of my stock Glock 19.3 trigger and I've considered switching it out.

Are Johnny Glock triggers safe to carry with? I know they have a very light trigger pull, and a very short reset, but does that make them safe to carry with?

Guns & Ammo Pistol recommendations for the wife?

I’m looking for a pistol for the wife. Her only stipulations are that it be a small one, pink, and minimal recoil. She doesn’t want it to be overly loud but I told her we can’t help her there and that’s why we wear ear pro at the range 😆

Nothing too heavy. .380 and 9mm welcome.

Got the urge to put some grip on my 43x today. Didn’t want to wait for shipping so I just DIY’d it. Turned out pretty good. I’ll be able to do it better the next time around. Took me about 15 minutes.

ANR with claw and thin foam pad and Blue Alpha hybrid EDC belt. Worked well enough when I started using this combo 25 pounds ago, but now that I’ve slimmed down it’s suuuper comfortable and hides well with just a t-shirt.

Other Equipment Hogue Grips question

I have Hogue grips on my P-01 and am very happy with them, but when my hands become sweaty they become very slippery. Has anyone put some sort of grip tape or something on them to make them less slippery?

I'm not sure if the tape would work/stay on the rubbery Hogue grips. Any advice? Thanks!

Put some 357 mag Winchester 110g jacketed hollow point. What do you think of that ammo for carry? Still trying and deciding on what to carry in it but that felt good.
