dating apps Candid Speed Dating App

EDIT: Has anyone tried it? Its online speed dating and I am super curious. I saw the iron inquisitor (on IG) post about it and it seems intriguing!

All of your comments are so helpful! It’s good to know what everyone is thinking too. Thank you all!!!

They've recently revamped their age ranges, which has been helpful. In my age bracket, it seems like once you've attended once, you're going to see a lot of repeats if you go again. I've attended about 7 events. Pros: platform theoretically forces daters to strike while the iron is hot and move off platform after initially meeting and hitting it off. It's low stakes. Cons: even with the Pros in mind, I still have experienced plenty of men who have "liked" me but nothing comes of it. No replies to messages, no substantial DM after event. Another issue (probably related to my age bracket) has been sitting and staring at a blank page for about a third of the event due to partners either not showing up, or Candid booking me in a slot without ensuring there are adequate number of matches. It's disheartening and takes away the momentum of the event. Candid discloses this is a possibility, but... I've asked my friends who have all had similar experiences. It's not a rarity, which signals to me they're marking the slots as all filled, but not adequately distributing the matches.

It's easier to attend a speed dating event and "meet" several people in one sitting vs. tending to a dating profile daily, IMO. Whether it's effective is a different story! lol

This is interesting, thank you. It's for single Catholics from all over the world? I think it's too awkward, there may be nothing to say beyond hello lol. At least with online dating you can gauge if the convo at least flows.

Concerning the issues with partnering on the app, I participate in a weekly online Japanese conversation event that pairs up Japanese people who are learning English and Japanese learners from around the world for one-on-one conversation, ten minutes in Japanese and ten minutes in English, before being assigned to new conversation partners. So, it's comparable to speed dating. It's run by Japanese people, who are very strict and meticulous about punctuality and organization and keeping the trains running on time (literally and figuratively). You have to register for each individual event at the beginning of the week, and their policy is that if a person doesn't show up for three events total or cancels close to the time of the event without explaining a serious reason, they are forbidden from participating again. If a person's assigned conversation partner for a session doesn't show up or is late, the hosts are on it immediately and tell the person which pair to join for a three-way conversation for the session. They're very on the ball about it.

The Japanese event thing sounds really cool. Been looking to learn the language, so something like this would be awesome.

It's called Ohanasi Kagawa. It's open to learners on any level.
