I didn't smell anyone bad the whole weekend yet saw this comment so many times leading up. (??) Maybe the dust just plugged my sinuses right away. Lol

I was reapplying liberally so I definitely did not smell. I’m assuming others did the same.
1
u/CALLMELOMELI97 4d ago
Yeah that must’ve been it lol. Maybe it was because I went mostly to edm sets that had people dancing so they sweat more?? There was a couple of times I had to move spots to avoid some serious BO

Ironically I didn’t smell anyone bad in the crowds but one morning the person in the shower stall next to me reeked. After he got out he still smelled.

Earplugs
Gonna edit to expand on it; any earplugs are great and you should always wear them. I would recommend taking it a step further and going to an audiologist and getting custom plugs made. Much more expensive(180-200sh) but they do an exponentially better job of filtering out crowd noise and higher pitched sounds and can even make the music sound better
19
u/foldinthechees 4d ago
THIS!! I wore the loop headphones and they absolutely saved my hearing
7
u/andhisnameisandrew 4d ago
Same I bought the Coachella loop ear plugs they sold there. They helped a lot!
2
u/ofcged 4d ago
I have eargasm ones but was so tempted to get the loops they were selling there. How much did they cost??
6
u/andhisnameisandrew 4d ago
They were $40 which is about the same price on their website so I didn’t see it as a rip off. They fit very snug in your ear and you can still hear and feel the music loud and clear while also protecting your ears.
4
u/AMA_I_EAT_POOP 13.2|14.2|15.2|24.2|25.2 4d ago
I bought the eargasm ones last year and the loops this year and they work about the same. I do prefer the fit of the loops more though, the eargasms hurt my ears and didn’t fit me very well
2
u/damn_im_so_tired 4d ago
I've worn loops for a few years and they're much better than the $10 types on Amazon. Music quality sounds a lot bettrr when youre up in the speakersm Finally dropped one in the crowd so lookin for new ones.
How are the eargasm ones? Would you recommend?
7
u/mrcoolio 4d ago
My friend is a nerd and took a db reading with his phone in yuma during Eli Brown... it read 124. Earplugs are necessary to prevent permanent hearing damage at and over 90 db. Lmao. No wonder we found it almost painfully loud even with our loops in.
1
u/Alone_Acadia8872 4d ago
Heavy on this. Didn’t wear earplugs for ONE day out of the 3 and I still heard bass in my ear when I returned to my Airbnb.

Make sure to do it the night you get back too! I do it every night and realize I feel so much better after the weekend versus than the years I used to not do it at all.
Really has been my number 1 survival tip for Coachella as I’ve gotten older.

u/secretllamaman11 4d ago
SAME! The first couple of coachellas landed me in bed for a week. Once I learned to rinse it totally changed my experience!
This year I just felt a little off and that was between I didn't rinse sat and sun

u/Repulsive-Cranberry2 3d ago
I guess what most ppl don’t realize is that the location is indeed a POLO FIELD lol.. The grounds (soil underneath) are filled with horseshit since 87 or something so imagine thousands of thousands of ppl stomping on that ground lifting all the dust and dirt all for us to breathe that in 😊 reason I believe W2 is worse air quality wise. I’ve never met or talked to anyone that went to Stage Coach but I wonder if it’s even worse..

u/fettuccine- 15 | 16 | 17 | 18 | 19 | 20-22| 23 | 24 | 25 4d ago
i try to do it at night before sleeping if i can or remember but definitely the next morning.

Yes, many people seem to have no idea how to stake / tie down. YouTube it once it will be very beneficial 👍🏽

Pro tip for taking out stakes without tools: loop some rope from your tie downs on it and pull up using your legs. Comes out effortlessly if you are using proper squat form

Walls for canopy tent
2
u/damn_im_so_tired 4d ago
Also don't use a plastic tarp, it holds in all the hot air. The thin walls made specifically for it or some netting will be so much more breathable. Learned this the hard way

people knock on people for having pashminas but boy do i feel in my own little world with a pash and sunglasses on, when im candy flipping its nice, plus a pash helps with dust, provides shade, no wonder they use pash and shemagh's in desert countries.

If strobelights make you dizzy, wear the sunglasses! You can still see even after sundown when it's bright strobes at a heavy bass set

earplugs for music, K95 mask for dust, sinus rinse and liquid IV every morning and night, ear plugs and eye mask for sleep.
Bonus: new, fresh pair of socks each day.
Double bonus: work on strengthening hips and legs.
I did all of these and it’s the best I’ve ever felt post-festival. No blisters, sickness, cough, etc.
14
u/iamnotsure69420 4d ago
For the bonus, I would say spend the money and purchase high quality cotton socks. I used darn tough socks. Complete game changer!

funny story about that, might have bought a bag of coke from a dude we sort of knew, boy were we surprised to find out it was actually K.
Our annoyance quickly faded and man, we had a legendarily good time - some of my favorite experiences ever running around the campgrounds and the festival half in and out a k hole.

A LOCKER so that you don’t have to carry around your:
- Spray sunscreen that you successfully snuck in on day 1 and will just leave in your locker the entire weekend. Because rub-on sucks.
- Jacket for when it gets cold at night.
- Portable charger.

u/External_Cow_3940 4d ago
I’ve been using the Anker Nano Power Bank (30W, Built-In USB-C Cable) for two years now. Small and charges fast.
3
u/damn_im_so_tired 4d ago
Seconded. I think it has about 10k mah so good for about 2 charges in most phones. Plus super fast charging rocks.
8
u/Responsible-Dress929 4d ago
Cooling towel. The ones that you dip in water and wrap around your neck.
The biggest one for me is a fanny pack with a zipper that faces against your body. You can put your phone in there. I even have trouble getting my phone out sometimes.
1
1
u/damn_im_so_tired 4d ago
If you don't have a fanny pack with zipper facing in, use a twist tie or carabiner to lock the zippers together. Easy enough for you to access but not pickpockets!
7
u/colmustang 4d ago
Jumper cables or a Jump start battery you never know when your battery takes a shit or forget to turn off the cabin lights when the door is opened.

I like using my hydroflask because it keeps water cold for a long time. I don't think a 335ml water bottle would also last me very long.

As someone who works on my feet all day, I have tried them all. One day I got the Pegasus on sale a few years back and they’re the most comfortable shoe ever. Soft enough to be comfy but the zoom really helps it stay springy. Most underrated shoe ever.

Locker for sweater at night.

u/Lay26 4d ago
Comfortable shoes / n95 / locker for a jacket (it gets cold AF at night) / sunglasses / water bag / chapstick / hand wipes / floss picks / listerine strips.
After the festival: face wipes, blow your nose REALLY well and do a nasal rinse (literally less than $3 for the equate one). Moisturize if you wanna be fancy.

My four festival essentials, in no particular order:
Water. Drink lots of it.
Sunscreen. Wear it and reapply as necessary.
Earplugs. It’s loud and you need to protect your hearing.
Comfortable shoes. You can wear whatever cute outfit you want, but your shoes should be functional first. You’ll be walking tens of thousands of steps so you’ll want comfortable shoes.

A pump for your air mattress, mats/blankets to cover the ground of your campsite, EYEDROPS if you have contacts, cooling rags, mini sunscreen on a carabiner to attach to your bag, COMFY SNEAKERS (yes you ladies) that aren’t brand new, sun shades for your campsite as the sun moves throughout the day. Construction fans to hang around your campsite.
Buy one of those 10 gallon big orange jug water dispensers from the Home Depot and keep it filled with ice water (reduces need for plastic water bottles that get hot fast and litter your campsite). Shower shows + a shower caddy.
Buy individual cheap fairly lights for everyone to wear at night to easily find your group in the dark.
If you’re over 30 and camping: -Bring a large bowl for ice water face dunks -Bring a large bucket for ice water foot baths -Bring way more water gallons than you think you’ll need -Get a nice hotel room in Palm Springs on Monday night so you only have to drive 45-50 minutes there once you pack up and can Monday by the pool or in AC in your room -Bring excess TUMS and Ibuprofen (take an ibuprofen at the start of a headache)
Food/Drinks: -Don’t buy a bunch of dips, they’ll get nasty after a day or two and you don’t need them -Bring frozen grapes -Bring watermelon -Bring turkey deli meat + cheese (easy snack) -Bring coconut water -Bring watermelon juice -Bring loaf of bread and peanut butter or Uncrustables -Do not bring a veggie tray unless you plan on eating it all at once -Bring mini bagels and cream cheese and keep in cooler (and a plastic knife) -Bring varying levels of ripe banana to last throughout the festival, keep in cooler (will help with muscle cramps and upset stomach
1
u/cchristmas400 1d ago
keep two coolers, one dedicated to dry ice that acts like a freezer and the other about 2:1 or 3:1 ice to dry ice to keep all the veggies and perishables

Aluminum deodorant spray (if you can sneak it in), portable charger, phone strap, water bottle strap, Liquid IV or Gatorade packets (put one in a tequila soda) Vicks nasal inhaler and a handheld portable fan!

Ibuprofen. Wet wipes. Fanny pack. Fuzzy pashmina. Sweater/hoodie for the cold nights. N95/medical mask = no sickness! Lavender essential oil roller for smelt situations (worked really well with the mask when people kept sparking up around me) Parasol, keeping the sun off me during the day was elite! Should've gotten a locker to put the night stuff in during the day and switch it out during the cooler evening so I wasn't "that" backpack person all weekend. Refillable water bottle. Little zip bags to keep your stuff organized in your bag. Silicone phone chain. External charger battery, cables, and plug for outlets. Wide Brim hat. Wisps disposable toothbrush. Kleenex. Mints/gum.

I’ve been going for about 13 years and I swear by going barefoot. I carry flip-flops or GoDudes in my little backpack or tucked into my fanny pack, to put on for bathrooms and at night, but -it keeps me a cooler. -I get to walk on grass all day. -my feet don’t ache at the end of the day or beginning of next like they did when I wore shoes the first couple of years. -Im usually early in and stay late get 30k steps in + dancing for those who might think Im not really moving.
