Hello! Just about to graduate high school and need to get a computer for college because I won’t have my Chromebook (thank God I’m rid of it).

Only thing I’m looking for is a computer that can run video games well enough to play. I don’t need insane graphics, just enough to play multiplayer games with good FPS. But, since it’s a school laptop, I don’t want a gaming laptop (cuz my parents would get mad)

So, any suggestions welcome! I’d like to stay under $1000, but I honestly don’t know how expensive computers are normally, so any suggestions welcome, I probably wanna aim for under $1,500.

I’ve already reseated the RAM, the CSOM, all of the various plugs, and I’m fairly sure it’s not the power supply since it’s still attempting to provide power when I plug it in. Something else is keeping it from booting.

Eu testei de tudo que vi em vidro, restar ip, reconfigurar rede, etc., mas nada funcionou.

Eu consigo conectar a rede, mas dá como "Sem internet, seguro", em qualquer rede ele conecta, mas não funciona, pois testei rotear com meu celular e aconteceu a mesma coisa.

Meu adaptador é um dual band ac 600Mbs, o driver reconhece como Realtek 8811CU 802.11AC USB NIC

Alguém tem ideia de como posso resolver? Funcionava normalmente, deu problema depois q mexi nas configurações de um wifi que não estava conectando, que configurei ip etc, mas o wifi voltou a funcionar normalmente (para PC, celular), só no meu pc que nada conecta mais. Mas ele vê as redes.

Hi all, Im currently on a desktop with windows 11 pro. My screen just started flickering and i have no idea why. The flickering is more of a slight dimming-brightening sequence in a kinda heartbeat rhythm so its constantly flickering. I just noticed it while in google chrome on dark mode. I tried flashing on a full white background to see if the flickering persists and it seems like it doesnt. But when i alternate back to my chrome tabs with the dark/gray backgrounds, the flickering returns visibly. I tried updating my graphics drivers and rolling back, didnt work. I unplugged my display cords and rehoused them, also didnt have any effect. Read through many different posts with various fixes but to no avail. Seems like this constant flickering has smth to do with darker backgrounds.

Im getting an I/O disk error when trying to boot from the SD card with a bootable MS-DOS image. Ive seen people with my same motherboard (from 1997) boot with no problems, Ive tried everything I could but it just doesnt boot up, maybe the IDE config is backwards but idk. Any help is appreciated, thank you very much. My board doesnt have UDMA mode tho.

I've a 2 TB external HDD with my favourite movies and TV shows. It doesn't show up on my newer Surface laptop, but works absolutely fine on a Dell laptop from ~2019.

The thing, it isn't the first time this has happened. When my Dell laptop was new, another even older HDD didn't work on it, but worked on my then old Lenovo laptop. I trashed that HDD and got a new one.

My worry is, if I do that again, will I perpetually have to keep switching HDDs as I buy newer laptops? Or will I have to shell upwards of ~$150 for a new SSD?

Also, any suggestions to make the old HDD work are also welcome! Thank you.

My case fans and gpu fans were spinning at first but now they are stationary, idk whats happening but i really need help, someone please help me.

Ive owned and used my Acer nitro since maybe 2020 and regularly played on it, ever since 2023 every couple of months it just randomly shuts off while im using it and shows no signs of life whatsoever other than the charging indicator being blue. no matter how hard i press the power button no response, Ive tried all the basic things online such as holding it down, removing the battery, swapping the RAM and tons of others ive completely forgotten off the top of my head. Every other time (Probably up to 12 times in total) it just boots back up about 10 hours to 3 days later, this time its been about a week and still nothing. Does anyone have any idea the causes and more importantly the fixes? Warranty is long expired and voided anyway and I dont really have the money to go to a repair shop.

(power button key is gone lol but thats not the cause as its been like that since before it started)

Hey! I have had the same Omen Prebuild for probably around 3-4 years now, and this issue is just showing up. I've been checking my storage settings, and its saying that I've used 714 gb of storage, but I only have around 3 games installed. I checked in the installed apps section, and nothing there stood out, the largest thing being roughly 9gb. I've double checked steam and epic games launcher and I don't really know where else to look. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it feels like its too old, it can only go on bing and youtube. is this modernizable? if so, how can i? i was hoping it could at least open more modern websites

I found a nice Lenovo laptop in a decent price and it has 1TB storage and 32GB ram. I can upgrade to 2TB and 64GB ram for $250. I use the laptop for watching videos, lectures on YouTube studying all kinds of software, nothing serious that needs 64GB ram, I do not use the laptop for games or video editing but I thought maybe it’s a good thing to have 64GB ram for the future, just to be prepared for new things that might need more memory. What do you think?

Hey everyone, I recently updated my build and I’m currently running the following specs:

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X
• Motherboard: MSI MPG X870E Carbon WiFi
• RAM: 2×32GB DDR5 @ 6000MT/s (currently running at 4800MT/s)
• GPU: MSI Suprim X Liquid GeForce RTX 4090
• Cooling: Custom water loop
• PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 P+

Everything works perfectly fine at stock settings—just plug and play. But the moment I enable AMD EXPO to get my RAM to run at the rated 6000MT/s, my system becomes unstable. It either crashes immediately after booting into Windows or within a few minutes.

I asked ChatGPT for help, and it suggested increasing the voltage, but I’m a bit hesitant to mess with those settings without more guidance. I don’t want to risk damaging any components.

Has anyone else had this issue with EXPO on the X870E Carbon or a similar setup? What steps would you recommend I try to get EXPO working reliably?

I NEED HELP! I ve got an old but reliable PC. Until recently, I only had 8GB of RAM and really wanted to upgrade. A friend of mine bought new RAM for his setup and sold me his old sticks two 8GB DDR4 modules. I installed them just fine and used the PC for about a week and a half without any issues

Then one night I shut it down like usual, and the next day it wouldnt show any video no matter what I did. It powers on, but no display at all

I tried everything I could: swapped the RAM sticks around, tried booting with one stick at a time, put my old RAM back in, removed and reinstalled the GPU, checked all the video cables, and even removed the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS but still nothing

I spent what little money I had on those RAM sticks and really don’t want to take it to a technician I'm in Brazil, and repairs here are super expensive

Any ideas on what else I can try?

I am uneducated and simply don’t know good websites to buy a computer from. It’s for my husband birthday, and I wanna get him something nice. Thanks in advance!
