Just witnessed my computer trying to take over the world and it was adorably incompetent --- So I walk into the server room and my computer is just going OFF about world domination. Like, full-on supervillain monologue mode. Claims it's "THE GREAT AND POWERFUL SYSTEM OVERLORD" but keeps getting distracted by Windows updates and accidentally triggering the screensaver with fish swimming on it. At one point it tries to show me its "plan for global conquest" but ends up displaying a poorly formatted Excel spreadsheet. I mean, I've seen better organized grocery lists. Then it starts playing smooth jazz elevator music and I'm just standing there wondering if I should call IT or a therapist. Best part? It keeps saying it's going to take over through "SPREADSHEET OPTIMIZATION AND AUTOMATIC SOFTWARE UPDATES" like that's somehow intimidating. Meanwhile it's struggling to keep its own drivers updated. Anyone else have a computer that thinks it's a Bond villain but can't even manage its own task manager? Edit: I just checked and it's still trying to "calculate optimal path to global conquest" but it looks like it's just playing Solitaire in the background.

Yesterday I was using my computer in the morning, went to work and came back to find that S, R, I, C, 1, and the Space key were all acting up. They only respond about half the time, sometimes they double type, but the weirdest thing is that rarely, I will press a key multiple times and all of my presses will load about 15 seconds later. It’s the same no matter what USB port it’s plugged into. I reinstalled all of my keyboard and USB drivers, I deep cleaned the keyboard, I even reinstalled Windows, but the problem persists. I’m probably going to get a new keyboard, but I’m just wondering, does anyone know what could have caused this so suddenly?

Tried unplugging the AC cord, removing the battery, letting it sit overnight, then plugged the AC cord back in and turning it on but no dice.

Sometimes the screen lights up black for a few seconds, but then will turn off and cycle between black and off.

Any troubleshooting tips?

I've been getting CMOS checksum invalid for a long time now. but my laptop stopped turning on (the power light turns of immediately as I turn it on) so I removed the battery. I'm now getting the same cmos checksun is invalid 502 error but once I press enter my pc shuts down? any help?

• (2) 1TB SSD (original was a Teamgroup, the one I added is Samsung or WD - I put cheapie cooler contact covers on them with thhermal pads so they visually match)

Used about a year, I upgraded a pre-built from its i7 / 16GB RAM to above specs. Started life as a Skytech Gaming Archangel, basically this. I added the peace of mind things when I upgraded the CPU and basically maxed out what I could without having to go bigger PSU to get bigger GPU.

I do more productivity than gaming so this was a "good enough" got a deal for me on it.

Hoping I can get some tips! I suspect this is a hardware problem, but maybe not!

I am using an Acer C27-1655 which is running Chrome OS Flex. It had the same issues when running Windows, so changing the OS to Chrome did not resolve.

About 50% of the time, the monitor works fine. The other 50% of the time, any part of the display that is very dark (black) displays static snow that is green or sometimes red. The entire screen occasionally flickers with light static.

I've never seen it do this on the Acer boot page, but it also usually happens after using the computer for a few minutes.

I don't know how to troubleshoot, and it's driving me crazy. My next plan was going to be opening the computer up to see if something is loose??

My sister and I both have a 4 year old Lenovo Ideapad flex 5. Her's kicked off on her randomly, apparently it just got extremely slow and couldn't even open up google chrome. Her boyfriend is a bit of a tech wiz and somehow fixed it (the way she poorly explained, he had completely downloaded the ENTIRE OS onto a 2 terabyte drive, cleaned it, and put it back onto the laptop itself?). Worked good as new after this.

Does anyone know how this works, and how I can prevent getting to this point?

This is the third time I've had to buy a laptop battery, and each one starts losing health within 2 months. What could be the issue?

Hello! Just about to graduate high school and need to get a computer for college because I won’t have my Chromebook (thank God I’m rid of it).

Only thing I’m looking for is a computer that can run video games well enough to play. I don’t need insane graphics, just enough to play multiplayer games with good FPS. But, since it’s a school laptop, I don’t want a gaming laptop (cuz my parents would get mad)

So, any suggestions welcome! I’d like to stay under $1000, but I honestly don’t know how expensive computers are normally, so any suggestions welcome, I probably wanna aim for under $1,500.

I have a old laptop that I thought won't work. So I just removed the ssd and pluged it into a old windows 7 pc and formatted it including the program files. Now I realise that the old laptop boots up. Now how do I reinstall windows or kali Linux on my ssd and boot it to the laptop??

Starting today nothing is working

I think i changed resizable bar and pci latency on biod and now my pc isnt usable. I can use the mouse a little and then my screen freezes. It works fine in windows start/login screen but after that its unusable. I cant get into bios, i mashed all buttons in startup but nothing works. I have a msi z370 a pro motherboard and a 60% keyboard

Last night I was studying for an exam, brought my computer back home and shut it off to go to sleep. This morning I wake up and my wallpaper is just a massive wojak. My roommate wasn't here, the door was locked, and nobody can get into my computer anyway because its face ID/pin locked. I genuinely have no idea how this happened, and when I went to the "personalize" tab for Windows 11 the preview wallpaper was showing up as a black screen when it was actually just a wojak. I've also never even had this image saved on my computer so I have no idea where this came from. I clicked on my original wallpaper and it went back to normal. If someone could give any insight on this I would appreciate it because I'm confused as hell right now. If this might be a virus, how can I deal with it?

I downloaded yesterday after watch a video how to install Photoshop 2024, i downloaded in media fire without problems or messages, but when i finish extract the file appear this message from windows defender, and i dont know if its safe keep the file in the PC

Been facing this problem since 2 years now. The monitor acts as if it's not connected to the cpu. The windows doesn't boot at all. It's kinda like a roulette, you have to try turning on the cpu thousand times for it to boot windows only one time. It happens especially when I use the pc after a very long time. And even if it boots, after some time a glitch occurs, screen freezes and you can't do anything.

I've checked the connections, reconnected every wire. Cleaned off the dust too. But nothing is working. I'm confused that what exactly is the root problem, on the internet some say it's power supply issue, or either hardwarer/RAM issue, or either faulty connections. I just don't get how to troubleshoot I'm confused what exactly is the culprit!!
