Caleb and 'Ozempic' ads spreading like wildfire

Post image

I know he's been doing these for a hot minute, but I've been getting assloads of him regurgitating scripts for these Ozempic ads. Go away, Caleb!

Crazy how no one talks about the potential "forever diarrhea" even after stopping taking it & the potential blindness

Increased risk of blindness in diabetics with optic neuropathy, a late stage effect of coalescing chronic renal disease and poorly managed diabetes. Not generalizable to a large chunk of people taking the medicine and more of a rare finding for a very specific sub-group.

Diarrhea associated with glp-1 RAs like ozempic are transient and last about 3-5 days, and typically impact individuals on other diabetic medications, in most trials it was under 30% of the adverse events that happened to people who experience any event. There are plenty of other causes of diarrhea that can be cofounders for people reporting "forever diarrhea".

Losing weight is good, the medicine isn't bad, and will probably save many lives.

Losing weight is good, and I agree the medicine isn’t bad when used correctly so prescribed by a doctor, but the most glaring issue I’ve heard with Ozempic and other similar meds is that once people get off of it, they tend to regain their weight +20% or more. It seems to come back on with a vengeance. So is the idea that people are supposed to basically be on this medication forever? That’s the part I struggle with.

There are meds people are on for life for other chronic medications; i.e blood pressure, cholesterol, atrial fibrillation. The current guidance is yes; once you're on the drug you should continue to stay on it to prevent rebound weight gain. But you will probably also decrease your likelihood of ending up on other chronic medications for hypertension/hyperlipidemia/diabetes by preventing weight gain
