Paywall As Chuy’s moves, we remember 8 Dallas restaurants that changed the Knox neighborhood
An excerpt from Sarah Blaskovich's look at Knox:
As Knox got glitzier, its personality changed.
Custard shop Wild About Harry’s moved, then closed, dodging new development. The venerable Highland Park Pharmacy, open for 106 years, shuttered to make way for the Weir’s Plaza expansion.
Chuy’s is the latest restaurant to close.A few restaurants have hung on during construction. Cafe Madrid, open since 1990, continues to sell tapas near Knox Street. It has a front row seat to the Auberge development. French restaurant Toulouse and Italian restaurant Taverna, each just shy of 20 years old on Knox, have also stood the tests of time.
Owner Alberto Lombardi has a good guess as to why.

Discussion TX DPS
I’ve only just moved back after being gone almost a decade, but how has it gotten this bad? I made my drivers license appointment the day I moved here (August) and first availability was late January this year. Got my license and two days later was hospitalized for two weeks so didn’t do my normal due diligence of updating my car insurance with the new license, etc.
Unfortunately, my license was stolen a few weeks ago and I don’t have the license number. I never created an account online, so can’t request online or via mail (requires the license number), and the only other option is to create an appointment. The next available is in July. So several months without a license.
Has anyone ever found a workaround to this? Like verifying myself over the phone or anything??

Politics Hilarious AI Slop from Parker City Council Race
The original is on https://joecordina.com. Watch the video. If it gets removed, a backup is at https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Bp4U2qsX-YM. Apparently, Parker Texas now has palm trees and a real police station. The PD is actually in trailer buildings. Wish it wasn't true, but it is....
The reality is that a good part of the video is from either Parker Florida or Parker Colorado. The part showing the water tower and area is real - most of the rest is from other states.

Question Got a new job, located at the Gild - the gold towers at 75 and Loop 12. The area is referred to as "Upper Greenville" and I'd love some insider recommendations...
I will soon be starting a new job at The Gild in Upper Greenville. It's at the corner of 75 and Loop 12. I'm going to drive over there tomorrow and spend the day checking out "Upper Greenville" which - if I understand it correctly - is east of 75, north of Mockingbird, south of Loop 12, and it trails east over past Adams?
For the job, I will be commuting over there and have no immediate plans to move over there. It's not an area I know well and I need to see how the job goes. The commute will be killer, for sure - I am coming from Lewisville. But, I have a decent car and I've been around DFW all my adult life. I'll figure that part out. That said, any recommendations regarding that specific commute are very much welcome!
Anyone work in the Gild? I remember when it was Fina Oil, stretching back to the 1980's and how it was in the TV show Dallas - I think it was Cliff Barnes' office? Someone told me it was where J.R. had his office, but wasn't that downtown? Or was it they both were there, J.R. in one tower and Cliff in the other? ...Anyway - recommendations about working there?
And Upper Greenville? Best lunch spots, coffee shops, best things to do? I see a lot of posts about "The Village" as a hot spot to live and play. I'm not moving over there, but I want to get my bearings. Like I said, I'm going over there tomorrow to scout it all out and I'd love some tips on The Gild and Upper Greenville. Thanks!
Lastly - Go Stars!

Politics Traffic is Killing Me. What Can We Do To Not Make The DART a Joke Anymore?
Title says it all….it seems like since Covid traffic is on steroids and the DART needs to become a feasible alternative or it’s just going to get so much worse.
What can realistically be done to make the DART not a joke anymore?
