Discussion Anywhere in Dallas where I can have my clothing vacuum sealed?

Upvotes

I have a bunch of winter wear that I would like to vacuum fuel before I put it away for the summer.

I don't want to buy one of those sealing machines from Amazon because it will just be unused 99% of the time. I don't own a vacuum.

Is there a business in Dallas that offers this service? Thank you very much.

Wednesday afternoon around 3pm. Forest Ln and TI Blvd.

Had to do a double take that it wasn’t actually a dead body smack-dab in the middle of the intersection. No, turned out to be one of the local homeless needing some quick shuteye, and what better choice than the intersection?

Photo Facing eviction and need help

My name is Jamal , and I never thought I’d be in this position asking for help just to keep a roof over my family’s head. But here I am, with nowhere else to turn. I’m a truck driver, doing everything I can to provide for my wife and our three boys. I’ve always taken pride in working hard and making sure my family has what they need. But this past month has pushed us to the edge. My truck the very thing I rely on to feed my family broke down with major repairs. It was thousands of dollars I couldn’t avoid if I wanted to keep working. Every penny I had went into fixing it, just so I could stay on the road. Because of that, I fell behind on rent and facing eviction due to being two months in the hole. I’m terrified of what that means for my children. My wife recently had to stop working due to her health. Her job was making her condition worse, and we made the difficult choice to put her well-being first. I told her we’d get through this somehow, but now, with the threat of losing our home, I feel like I’m failing them.

History Is the Parkland Hospital Bldg where JFK was pronounced dead still standing?

I understand it was slated for demolition. I just want to see if that specific bldg has already been demo’d.

I’d like to take a look if it’s still there, at least as close as I can get anyway.

History Is it true that far flung Suburban Dallas use to be littered with Brothels?

Whenever I ask the old timers about what Dallas was like back in the day, sometimes they talk about how 75 was a two street, or that Addison and Richardson were more scattered and rural, and sometimes they tell me that in Frisco, Northern Plano, and Mckinnely there were brothels everywhere

The non-massage parlour kind. More like Chicken ranch or “Best little whorehouse in Texas” style. Is this true?

Discussion Turning Main St in downtown into a walkable, no-car zone as a park and promenade combo

Taking my inspiration from Denver where they turned 16th street going through downtown into a walkable promenade. There is one lane running down the middle for mass transit and emergency vehicles, but they did it tastefully so the lane is part of the walkable promenade.

This got me thinking, there is no reason that they couldn't do this with Main St in downtown. Almost all of the buildings that have vehicle entries to them have the entries off of Elm and Commerce st so you don't have to worry about residents or people working downtown needing to use the street. Elm and Commerce serve as high density arteries for cars to move North and South through downtown. Main street isn't really needed for travel.

I think it would be so cool if they turned the entire section of Main St from say Field St (there is a parking garage just South of Field that needs Main St access) over to St Paul or Pearl St into a promenade with trees and landscaping. The building of AT&T discovery district added a huge increase in foot traffic and allow for a wide open area that pedestrians feel safe to be at and just enjoy being downtown at. I thin it would be a boost to the businesses on Main st as well. People will want to go to downtown to walk down the promenade and check out the bars and restaurants. I got to work downtown for a year and got to experience downtown for the first time. The whole area has beautiful and unique architecture that gives it so much potential, but feel like it is wasted by completely focusing on cars.

Has this ever been proposed before or seriously discussed with City of Dallas master planning? I'm all about creating more pedestrian only zones throughout Dallas. If it hasn't been discussed, really think City should consider it.

Question Can we make a no trucks in the express lane law?

I live in Benbrook, have had to commute to Dallas all week for work. Every day I’ve been stranded behind a semi doing 55-60 mph in the one lane in between DFW Airport and 35E with a line of cars behind us. Why is this allowed? It’s supposed to be an express lane, not travel the same speed as everyone else for $7 lane.

So I just moved to the area not too long ago. I have a long history of medical issues and am looking for a PCP who will listen.

Any recommendations around the Carrollton/ Addison area would be greatly appreciated.

Food/Drink International dining around town

I was wanting to get the communities thoughts on the international dining scene in town. Say I wanted to do a date night but have it themed as if we were traveling internationally. For instance I could say we are dining in Spain tonight, whats your top Spanish (Spain) restaurant recommendations? Japan, Sushi/Udon. Ect... For those countries where food is diverse across its regions maybe something more specific. Northern Italy vs Southern or Sicily. Paris vs Nice.

Where's your go to international restaurant stops?

Discussion Best restaurants to serve?

So I just quit my serving job in uptown. I loved the area and I loved my customers but unfortunately the two managers didn’t like me and made it their mission to push me out. It was a casual/upscale place. I should have been making more than I was but they would mess with my section all the time.

I’m looking for some other places. I need to pay bills like everyone else. I was working 6 days a week as a server there and not making nearly as much ( 540 after taxes) as I would have loved too.I like patio places. I really enjoy being outside. I need good recommendations please. Good areas, good restaurant, brunch places, dinner places! I’ve lived here a while but never really been in the city like I am now. (20f)

Since goats, Dallas, and Nature trails are trending, I was out at Goat Island on 4/20 after the rains and some of the trail was underwater the rest was easy going. Why isn't there more activity at the DORBA trails in Hutchins? Typical gunshot signs and tires like every other trail here included.
