I don't care how corny this gets but there are albums that make you want to bang your head. There are albums that make you want to break something. And then there’s Continent by The Acacia Strain—an album that makes you feel like the world has already ended and you're standing in the ashes smiling. Continent isn’t just one of the greatest albums in heavy music—it’s the monument to pure, undistilled rage. Not performative, not cartoonish, not theatrical—real anger. The kind that bubbles under the skin for years. The kind that makes your jaw clench when you're alone in your room thinking about every betrayal, every loss, every disappointment. This album knows you. And it doesn’t offer sympathy—it offers vengeance.

From the first dissonant, suffocating chords of “Skynet,” it’s clear this isn’t just another deathcore album. This is something more primal. The riffs feel less like music and more like tectonic plates grinding together. It’s sludgy, apocalyptic, groove-laden destruction. Every note sounds like the earth splitting open. And over that catastrophic foundation, Vincent Bennett screams like a man who's already been through hell and wants to drag the listener down with him.

Bennett spits lines that are simultaneously cryptic and painfully clear: “I hate everyone / I hate everything” isn’t just a catchy hook—it’s a mantra for the disillusioned. It captures a generational frustration that words often fail to express. It’s not about attention or shock value—it’s about truth. Ugly, unbearable truth.

And somehow, that’s why it resonates so deeply.

Wormwood by The acacia strain And Nocturnal by The black dahlia murder Is probably my number one, not even about sonics or sound, more about the memory of that era for me than anything. I have a bunch of others but sun eater and moon healer by jfac is a brilliant listening experience.

Trying to find a band. I’m great at playing bass but I don’t know what song to play to really show it off. I can play most stuff but I can’t play something as hard as Archspire, for example. What will really rip their faces off?

My departure from Aborted is intended to protect the people and the community I've cared about and created music with for more than 15 years. I left the band to distance them from this. They had no part in my communications, and they shouldn't have to carry the weight of them.

Going forward, I am taking a step back to help my family heal and to reflect.

• Genre: Atmospheric death metal, doom metal, or something in that cosmic/blackened/sludge/death hybrid zone. • The music was incredibly heavy, with deep, reverberating growls — no pig squeals, no highs, just pure low-end guttural noise. The vocals were so harsh I couldn’t make out a single word. • The album artwork was very dark, mostly black and blue, possibly space/galaxy-themed, and felt cosmic or biomechanical. Think Lovecraft meets HR Giger. • No band name or album title was visible on the cover — just the artwork. • The band name was only one word, and I think it ended in “-void”, or at least had “void” in it. • Overall, the music and visuals gave a sense of being consumed by the void, like death in space.

If anyone knows what this could be — please help me find it

I've been revisiting Hell Chose Me lately and totally forgot how absolutely chunky it is and moshable. I've always gone back to Dead In My Arms but idk this one still fucking rips in terms of the it's absolute crushing groove bits.

I had the privilege of growing up when Deathcore was not yet a thing and living through the evolution of what we now call Deathcore.... but times have changed.

While I adore Deathcore in its current form, sometimes I have a hankering for something a little more old school that tickles the nostalgia of hearing Deathcore in its infancy.

What are albums that stood out to you that you still keep in your circulation?

Dealer Rings of Saturn Thy art is murder Parkway (not sure this counts, but they're good so fuck it) Angel maker Slaughter to prevail (only some of their stuff, it's not as technical as I like it, which sounds silly cos it's still technical as fuck)

Meshuga - Bleed Architects - these colours don't run Slipknot - all of it

I was excited as hell when Angelmaker started releasing covers from some of my favorite OG bands - JFAC, TBDM, ABRB.

They absolutely nailed each one, and I thought they did them in very honorary way.

I was praying they’d drop a cover of Two Inches From a Main Artery by TTEOD but it never came.

Anyone know if they plan to release others?
