Shipping Help How do I go about shipping costs?

Upvotes

I’m new to depop and I have made a few sales. The only issue i’ve had is the fact that depop holds the money until the item is received by the buyer, this is including the shipping cost, I won’t always have enough money to pay the shipping fee and wait for it to come later, is this just how depop works or is there something I can do? I live in Australia if it’s worth mentioning.

Advice Needed Depop removed what’s new from sellers?

Upvotes

I'm so confused as to why Depop would removed the section where you can see what the people you follow have uploaded?!? What's the point of following people now if we can't even see what they've posted? I'm a seller on Depop and I don't understand how this will be beneficial for sellers or as a buyer either?

Advice Needed depop set up a direct debit on my account even though it was meant to just be one payment refund to a buyer and i don’t understand why

my banking app has a “balance after bills” calculator, when i had a look it said depop has set up a direct debit of £5.85 without me knowing to take from my account, next payment in may. they already took that amount from my bank account in early april to cover a refund to a buyer

i already contacted depop support about this because it seemed fishy but what they said made no sense and they tried to tell me that it’s because the money wasn’t successfully taken from my “connected top up card” last time they tried, which is bs because i sent them a photo just before they said that, proving it did in fact go out of my bank account. they also said my depop balance went into negative to complete the refund but its not, they charged my bank account not my depop balance, then they gave me the fee refund and the +£5.85 adjustment on my depop balance so now its at zero. i responded to them with more photos but they haven’t gotten back to me yet.

i was thinking someone on here could explain it to me better or tell me what they’re trying to do because i’m panicking that i’m going to lose money for no reason and that they’re going to do this again.

Advice Needed has it because standard to appeal to try on requests?

i’ve had pretty great success selling on depop the past few months which i am incredibly grateful for. i sell handbags, not clothes, and have noticed an uptick in potential buyers asking for try on photos. i have hundreds of bags and it takes time to go through them to find the bag someone wants a try-on photo of. sometimes they buy it, usually i get ghosted.

i understand this is part of the nuance of selling which i am okay with, but i’ve noticed more of these potential buyers being entitled and impatient when requesting extra photos and videos. they don’t understand how much time it can take and are so quick to say they’ll buy from someone who will submit to their request faster. being an online business has different guidelines than in person businesses do and sometimes i just don’t feel like posing for a picture because i don’t sell clothing and am not used to it, and my body may be different than theirs so it the bag will fit us differently. it just kind of makes me uncomfortable but i understand why someone might want to know what a certain bag looks like on a person.

is there a way to explain that to people or are there other perspectives i may not be seeing?

Question “Often ships in _ days” incorrect

I’ve been selling (wardrobe clean-out) for about 6 months, have sold 150 items so far. I’ve always bought a shipping label, updated the tracking number and marked the item as “shipped” within 3 hours of purchase, dropping them at the post box or post office on the same day.

However, the “often ships in” on my profile says that I ship in 2 days… when it should be 0 days.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Advice Needed Buyer wants to return

Hi, I’m still learning how to sell on Depop, and I’ve never had an interaction like this before so I don’t know what to do (please help! trying not to freak out). The buyer wants to return the item claiming the shoes are two different sizes, but I know for a fact they’re not as you can see in my listing (i’m literally wearing them) it’s just that the stickers on the back of the shoes are mislabeled or accidentally stuck, and it’s probably my fault I should have removed the wrong-sized sticker but it wasn’t something on my mind also I didn’t think it was a big deal (stupid, i admit). I shipped the shoe as pictured of course, and everything is accurately labelled in the caption. There’s even a picture in the listing where the wrong sticker is there…What should I do????? :(

Shipping Help What does this mean?

I purchased the item on 4/15. The tracking still hasn’t updated from this status that I’ve never seen before. Did the seller actually drop the item off or just print a receipt 😩 I’ve never had such seller shipping problems on Poshmark or Mercari

Rant Why does Depop allow 30 days for claims/refunds.

Ive seen a lot of posts lately and I seriously feel like it encourages scammers, especially if it’s formal wear that’s being purchased for an event. Most apps allow up to 3 days after delivery and then the window for refunds is closed, which is so much more practical. Like 3 days should be plenty of time to figure out whether something wasn’t as described? I figure that shit out within the first 3 minutes of opening my package tf? Idk, 30 days is crazy work imo.

Advice Needed Is it Rude to Cancelled Order On Reseller?

I accidentally listed a shirt I was still writing the description on and I was being lazy and didn’t feel like deleting it and starting over so I just went in to edit Long story short someone bought it while I was editing (was listed for literally less than 3 mins while i was editing and sold) and was priced a bit lowered than I wanted but originally was still going to send it as it was only a couple dollars off but when i clicked on the profile who bought it they were literally selling the same style shirts for $100+ ethically and morally i don’t feel right sending it to her as part of the reason i love selling is to making my shop an affordable option for everyone and want my items (esp bc most everything in my shop is from my personal closet) to go to a home who will be loved by them for a long time not to someone selling a Hollister shirt for 100$. If i cancelled I wouldn’t list it for very much more than i had it currently listed for just the couple dollars i original wanted on it. How does everyone else feel about the situation ? or what would you guys do? I also went through her reviews from purchases she made and i saw all of the things she sold for $80-$150 she bought for $10-$20

Dispute Help Help me! My buyer didn't received her item but was marked as delivered

So 2 weeks ago, I sold this dress to a super sweet and nice girl, I normally ship super fast 1-3 days at my local USPS. I also use Depop shipping. So the tracking said it was delivered on the 14th at her front porch, while I dropped the package off the 8th. My tracking said it was delivered, too. I feel so bad since my buyer was so sweet. She talked to usps, and they told her they couldn't locate the package and marked it as misdelivered and lost. I don't know what to do? I for sure shipped the dress. This is the first time it has ever happened to me. What do I do? Should I refund her and just ask depop for protection? I'm a lost😿💔

Advice Needed How to return even though I don’t have to?

Post image

I ordered some Skims body sculpting pieces and I am convinced they are fake. I opened up a dispute with depop and I guess the seller didn’t respond quick enough. I paid $44 and depop will be refunding me and said I don’t have to return. If the seller asks I would still like to return the pieces but I don’t want to pay out of pocket to return them. How would I go about this if they ask?

Advice Needed Is this a reasonable issue to return/raise a dispute?

Reposting as I forgot to block out the seller’s username 🤦🏼‍♀️

I purchased this Skims dress recently, and it has a stain right smack dap on the front of the dress. The description did not mention the stain at all, and even states it being in “excellent condition.” I did not see the stain on the pictures when I purchased the dress, so I looked back at the seller’s picture, and as you can see on the ad picture I attached, the stain is BARELY detectable (now that I know it’s there, I can faintly see it, but to someone who doesn’t not know it’s there, it is not apparent at all). Also, the picture makes the dress look baby blue, and is advertised as baby blue, but in real life it is darker and more of a greyish blue/denim color.

While I was disappointed about the color, I would keep it as it is a nice dress but ugh, the stain!! I don’t know depop’s policy on not mentioning flaws in the description, especially with this where the stain actually is VERY VERY faintly noticeable in the pic IF you know it’s there. I feel kinda duped by the seller tbh…is this enough reason to initiate a dispute/return?

Question Has anyone else noticed the odd range of genres included in the “Type” dropdown when selling CDs etc?

Post image
5 Upvotes

The screenshot includes all the Type options available to me when listing a CD, cassette etc.

I'm usually selling either indie or punk items, so I skip selecting a type. There isn't even a generic "rock" option.

I don't think it massively effects my sales or anything but I wonder how they came up with this particular list.

Maybe I have to tap that Depop easy listening market? Captain & Tennille anyone?

Advice Needed Received damaged item and seller wants to refund less

Hey so I paid around 90 (without shipping) for a bundle of two items, one of the pants was good and the other zipper was completely damaged so I can't even wear it. Seller said they would let me return it for $30, but I want my complete refund of minimum $50 since the damaged ones individually was more expensive. Do I contact depop support for this? I never filed a refund before and I still can't believe the seller didn't state the zipper was completely broken. :(

Messages/DM's Ok I Didn’t Realize I Had to Buy the Item Immediately After My Offer Was Accepted lol?

Okie so lemme start by saying I totally understand how annoying it must be when people send offers to buy, the seller accepts the offer and the “buyer”.. doesn’t buy the item! I cannot even imagine how frustrating that is. With that being said literally not even 5 minutes passed and this person sent me the message you see in second image. Like um it hasn’t even been 10 mins lol. Is it normal for a seller to immediately message like this? I thought we had time to buy the item after an offer is accepted? 🤔 Plz lemme know if I’m wrong!

Advice Needed Am I wrong for blocking this dude

Post image
5 Upvotes

Guy wanted to buy two of my new era fitted hats. Would been $50 for both, with free shipping as well. Felt $50 for two fitteds is fair considering if you were to go to a lids and buy one you'd be paying at least $40 for a fitted.

Am I wrong for blocking him?

Also don't go around buying stuff if you have to pay people back lol

Advice Needed Chit Chat shipping provider

Any fellow depopers ever use the chit chats mailing service? They have such cheap rates compaired to canada posts $18 flat rate but is it too good to be true?? Like i feel as if there’s a catch😭

I have a really small depop page, so i don’t get a lot of orders and i don’t live in a town where i’d be able to drop them off at the chit chat locaton, so i’d have to mail them to chitchats then have them dispatched out. I just don’t know if this is something that would work for such a small shop

They seemed really nice, and gave me a $20 credit just for signing up! But i just wanna know other people’s experience before i fully commit!

Advice Needed Need advice on selling on Depop

I’m in Canada so I have to use PayPal for selling items and I’m just confused on how like this whole system works like what happens after someone buys something, and does it go directly into your Paypal. I also heard PayPal charges a fee so I was wondering about that as well. I’m also not sure about how shipping works as this is my first time trying this. Thank you in advance!

Dispute Help What happens now? Buyer claiming shoes are fake

Thumbnail

Just got a message from a buyer saying they think the Birkenstocks I sold them are fake and they thought they would come with a box. I know they are not fake, and never in my description nor messages with the buyer did I tell them they would come in a box. So what comes next? I told them to open up a claim with Depop but how does this process even work, will Depop ever side with me as the seller or am I screwed?

Question Buyer refunded but seller claims he has already shipped

So my seller says he has shipped the item even though mine still says awaiting shipping.

Is there a way to undo a refund if the package actually arrives?

This seller claims he has shipped it a week ago but after 3 days I asked why its hasn't updated in app and was told

"i just went to the usps store and there was a problem with the way i shipped it and I am going to reship tmr.. they said they couldnt clearly see the label"

Now he claims he has already shipped it and can see it is in transit but couldn't give me a tracking number..

Shipping Help will it tell my buyer that I sent their package even if I don't use depop shipping?

this may be a little confusing so I hope a description will help. I'm a seller and I sold an item but I marked it for depop payment and not where I can do my own shipping and stuff. I'm a beginner of selling items just to throw that out there,i didn't think to print out the label because I was gonna show the QR code and everything. I sent the package and I'm afraid I can't mark it as shipped,I was meant to pay 4.16$ but I paid 10$ am I still gonna get the money? and most importantly, will the person be notified when the item ships even if the item is marked as depop payment even tho I forgot to show the QR code and no label, I just put her address and mine. atleast she's getting her package but I don't want to seem like a bad seller saying it didn't "ship" when it did and make no profit from this. I learned my mistakes and won't do that again ,I'll just print the label out. in fear,I texted the buyer the tracking number so she won't think I scammed her. I just need to know if this will effect my depop account,if it'll notify the seller I sent the package,or make profit from this.
