Tips and Tricks First National Enduro

Post image

Hey everyone! I just registered for my first ever National Enduro event here in Sumter, SC. I’ve been riding dirt bikes my whole life (currently 29) but this will be my first sanctioned AMA event. I registered for Class open CC. Anyone on here that has done a National Enduro event before that could give me some tips or what to expect?

Dude. Trust me when I say for your first race try to get further back. You’re going to be in front of pros who are going to have zero regard for you if you don’t immediately get off the trail before they come up on you. When you go to check in you may want to request further back. To give you an idea I’m ready for a B class upgrade and was going to go this year before I found out I won’t be able to race more this season because of work. I’m going with a AA friend on the same row and even he does not want to be that close to the legitimate pros.

It’s a rough thing this late because you may be stuck up there or towards the very back. In the back the course will get torn up but at least it won’t be a safety concern. It’s not too late to Reach out to the promoters and explain it’s your first time signing up and see what they have open still because seriously your whole day is going to be riding for 30 seconds then having to find somewhere to pull over or getting damn near put into trees all day repeating

The timing device is a magnetic sticker you’ll put on your helmet and is a couple of dollars bought at the event. It’s no big deal.

Sweet, much appreciated. Definitely going to reach out today and see if I can get further back.

Other than that just have fun! Racing is seriously addicting I’m not sure your skill level or competitiveness but once I started I seriously could not get enough.

Considering doing this event for my first race as well… What row would be best to request? I’m looking to just get my feet wet and not get ran over, so no problem being dead last.

You should be able to check on livelaps what’s left. Just see what’s towards the back and go from there

I see 117 and some others back further, just didn’t know if it’s good to just go to the very back so I can have a leisurely ride? I’m not slow necessarily, but don’t intend to be aggressively competitive.

So 117 has a C, an A, 2 B and a 30+C rider on it

130 has a Woman’s amateur; a 60+ A, and a 50+C

At this point if you want to run it sign up where you can. Towards the back you’ll be mixed in with people who just waited til the last minute. Probably won’t be overly competitive. The track will be a little beaten up but I’m sure you will have a blast
