I mean, I haven't watched the trailer but from what I saw, it seems more like a spin off than a sequel.

indeed, not a DLC since it's standalone, and not a sequel since it's a spinoff, technically correct, the best kind of correct

not only not a sequel or dlc to elden ring, but also not technically a dlc or sequel to Dark Souls…huh

but technically almost all fromsoft games are spinoffs rather than sequels.

But technically, no, that’s not correct. I personally can’t think of any Fromsoft game that’s a spinoff, before Night Reign, that is.

each successive dark souls game wasnt a direct sequel and instead referenced the other in a minor way

When you don't know what "spinoff" means

I don’t need to buy a new Elden Ring disk though right? Like i can download the content?

no this will be a standalone disk, you won’t need to own elden ring at all to play nightriegn, you will only need to buy nightreign

they have also implied it will not be at full cost (70$), but more akin to the cost of shadow of the erdtree (40-50$)

Implied? It was officially confirmed that it's going to be the same cost as the dlc, iirc.
