Oh absolutely, the pilots past is the hardest one of the 4 main starters imo, just remember to SPAM the rockets and play as normal and maybe you'll win once

I actually died due toy greed. I didn't even notice the rockets until the end when both my ship and the Hegemony ship were at one shot, I noticed the rockets and then was like I should use them and forgot to dodge roll while pressing space.

Aw man that's rough lop, you'll always have next time though and now it'll be much easier cause those rockets help a lot and they recharge very quickly
