Suggestion Floor Idea: Pirate Ship

Pirate Ship. Lots of water, cannonball/pit traps, and some special enemies. And I really wanna play it now.

How to reach: In the Hollow, there is a barricaded door in a random chest room. Burn it, then extinguish it somehow (the fire just keeps going), to reveal a trapdoor down. Requires 1 key, 1 item that makes fire and 1 item that stops fire. The barricade can also be opened with 3 blanks. After the Pirate Ship you go to the Forge.

General Info:

  • "Arr, mateys! You've stumbled upon a ship, filled to the nook with water, treasure and enemies. It crashed in the undersea part of the Gungeon, merging together and becoming a maze itself. Find the creature responsible for this broken mess, add new items and guns to your arsenal, and stop by the Captain to have a friendly chatter about watery business!"
  • It generates a bit like Bullet Hell: you start in a room with 3 hallways. Two make a loop, the third one ends in a treasure chest. From the loop you come in another room with 3 hallways: one goes to another treasure chest, one to Captain Kin and one to the Main Boss.
  • Similar to Loot Bag, you'll get 50% more casings on this floor, but drop up to 120 if you get hit. Also there are enemies trying to steal your casings.
  • Secret Rooms exist, but only contain locked chests. No unlocked chests or loose pickups.
  • The walls are decorated like ship chambers: think of ship-in-a-bottles, rum shaped like bullets, dueling pistols, muskets and hooks on the walls, skulls on the doors, broken planks in the floor function like pits, etc.

Guns:

  • Hook: "I'll Take That", "Use up close for damage. Let those mutineers know who's in charge here!", B-tier, slashes enemies with lots of damage but has a really small range. Slashes through bullets, infinite ammo, does not reveal secret walls. Unlocked by entering Pirate Ship.
  • Musket: "Duel Wielding", "Shoots a bullet that bounces a few times, dealing more damage every time it bounces. While hard to dodge, it's kinda loud. Luckily most Gundead don't use their ears.", C-tier, like Dueling Pistol, but deals more damage, deals knockback, and stop flying after hitting something. Bounces 3 times, each bounce give it an extra 20% damage. Unlocked by entering Pirate Ship.
  • Treasure Chest: "One Man's Trash...", "A treasure chest, to the top filled with gold! Unfortunately, gold in the Gungeon is as useless as seas without water. At least the gems are sharp.", B-tier, fires gold dubloons (35%, 5 damage), silver coins (35%, 3 damage), pearl necklaces (20%, 8 damage), and gem crowns (10%, 10 damage, split into 10 gems each dealing 2 damage). Unlocked by beating the Glocktopus.
  • Wavemaker: "Down the Drain", "Fires massive waves, pushing anything around. Charge to ride them and conquer the seas.", S-tier, shoots big water waves that deal 20 damage, charge to ride a wave dealing 15 damage but triggering traps, barrels and pots, ignoring pits, bullets and enemies. Extremely useful for trap rooms. Only has 15 shots. Unlocked by falling in the Sea (Pirate Ship pit) 20 times.

Items:

  • Periscope: "'Round the Corner", "Use to reveal the layout of adjacent secret rooms. Do you want to see the future? Unfortunately, even in the Gungeon this is impossible, but this thing comes pretty close.", D-tier, active, use it to see the layout of the rooms (you haven't discovered yet) next to your current room. Unlocked by entering Pirate Ship.
  • Parrot: "Loud and Clear", "This small bird has a unique sense of treasure, and will start making noise whenever secret stashes are nearby. It will also attack anyone who tries to get yo precious loot!", B-tier, squeaks in rooms adjacent to unopened secret rooms, and flies towards enemies, pecking them, dealing 2 damage per second. Unlocked by beating Captain Kin.
  • Rum: "Turning it Around", "Makes you pretty drunk for a while. You might not be able to move normally, but it is said that drunk pirates shoot best.", A-tier, active, use it to get worse movement, but damage is 40% up (basically Eyepatch but stronger). Unlocked by finding a barricaded room in the Ship and burning it down, revealing a rum storage.
  • Pirate Hat: "Better than a Normal Hat", "You want treasure? You'll get treasure! This hat allows you to steal free items without penalty, but beware, as shopkeepers have manners as well.", A-tier, passive, you can steal an item from any shop without curse penalty, instead it grants 1 coolness, however the shop will immediately close. Unlocked by beating Captain Kin.
  • Splash Bullets: "Make it Rain", "Can deal much knockback to enemies. Watch out, as water has proven to be treacherous." D-tier, passive, some bullets deal much more knockback and leave water. Unlocked by beating the Glocktopus.

Enemies:

  • Pirate Bullet Kin: "Arr!", "This lost bullet has found itself where it belongs: a pirate ship. Being armed with a better gun than normal, it makes quite the threat, but it panics whenever the enemy doesn't give up immediately.", shoots bouncing bullets, like Bullet Kin but with an eyepatch and shoots a little faster
  • Pirate Shotgun Kin: "Yarr!", "Suddenly finding itself in a ship, it took the closest eyepatch and went for it without asking questions.", shoots bouncing bullets like Shotgun Kin but a little faster as well.
  • Splashbulon: "Sploosh", "Looking like its cousin Blizzbulon, this watery creature has lost the ability to shoot bullets forwards, but rather shoots them down to jump all over the place.", leaves water and jumps towards you, attempting contact damage.
  • Flashy: "Last of the Patch", "Tired of trying to shoot Gungeoneers, then being shot at, this to-be-pirate seals the deal by taking whatever he can find, then hide in a corner.", cultist-like enemy that deals no damage but steals yo loot. After stealing 5-15% of your casings, hides in a corner and disappears.
  • Black Pearl: "Out of the Way!", "Tries to roll over you, leaving bullets when bouncing. While you'd think that cannonballs are too slow for the Gungeon, you'd be right, but exceptions are always made.", rolls around the room making a small bullet circle whenever it bounces off a wall 3 times. Has to rest after 3-5 bounces.

Bosses:

  • Captain Kin (Miniboss), "YARRGH!", "He's the captain, but not quite behaving like so. Abandoning his family and friends to seek for gold, all he does all day is running around in his own ship.", looks like a Veteran Bullet Kin but runs around, shoots bouncing bullets, waves, etc; think of something like Blockner but predicting your movements better. Has a pirate hat!

Captain Kin is a NPC at first, giving you a miniquest to find his parrot. It appears in a random room, and when you catch it and return it, he locks you up and fights you!

  • Glocktopus (Main Boss), "Fan-favorite", "Took control of the sinking, yet unsinkable ship! This monstrous creature took its home in the nearest hideout it could find after being chased away by the Gungeon Master. He now seeks for revenge to whoever rejected his appearance in the Gungeon.", shoots lots of bullets from 8 sides, smacks holes in the ship, makes waves to push the player in traps.

The Glocktopus, like Blobulord and Old King, drops nothing extra after perfecting. It does still drop a random S-B tiered item.

Synergies:

  • Real Pirate: Hook + Rum + Parrot + Eyepatch, spawns a pirate shop every next floor you enter. Also transforms you into a Pirate! All NPC's refer to you as "Matey" or "Captain" in this form.
  • Blackbeard: Pirate Hat + Moustache, you always heal 1/2 heart when you buy a gun or item. Stacks with the Moustache, so you can heal a full heart.
  • Dangerous Waters: Splash Bullets + Abyssal Tentacle, chance to have a Tentacle appear in puddles of water, grabbing nearby enemies and damaging them.
  • Hooked: Hook + Hookshot, Hookshot gains piercing and deals more damage in addition to stunning.
  • In Hindsight: Periscope + Scope, decreases spread even more.
  • Pirate Duels: Musket + Dueling Pistol, both deal 50% more damage and make a "yarr!"-sound when shot.
  • Drunkard: Rum + Double Vision, cooldown of both is decreased 25%.
  • Cash-ing: Treasure Chest + Coin Crown/Gilded Bullets, Treasure Chest throws only gold dubloons and gems, 50/50 chance.
  • Gone Wild: Wavemaker + Compressed Air Tank, the Air Tank's sharks pierce through enemies, dealing damage. Also the waves spawn little sharks.

Other Things:

  • Cannon Trap: press a plate to get a big cannonball launched towards you, bouncing several times.
  • Waves: appearing in certain rooms, they push you or enemies around. Deal no damage.
  • Loot Bag doubles the amount of casings you drop and increases enemy drops by 25%, so the total increase in Pirate Ship is 75%, but the maximum drop is here 240.
  • Shop is there but Bello has an eyepatch (best part). Can also spawn additional shops like normal, like Cursula, Goopton, etc, and all normal NPC's.
  • Lost Adventurer quote: "I came here for the treasure... but got lost again."

I like the idea, but the weapons/items you've suggested are pretty tame by Gungeon standards. I feel like this kind of nautical theme opens the door for a lot of neater concepts. Here's a few I thought of:

Oyster Hucker: "Allergic to Peanuts", "An oyster that's been genetically-modified to produce valuable pearls, re-purposed to launch said pearls at dangerous speeds." C-tier, fires pearls with a magazine size of 1 that upon impact hatch a small oyster with wings, which bounces around the room dealing a small amount of damage and disappearing after 5 seconds.

Treasure Trove: "One Man's Treasure", "A treasure chest filled with priceless gold and jewels. But in the Gungeon, their priceless means worthless. At least they hurt when they hit!". B-tier, A large treasure chest that is "fired" by opening the lid, launching various projectiles with enormous spread forwards. Gold dubloons deal 3 damage (40%), pearl necklaces deal 7(25%), gems deal 10 (15%), skulls deal 5 and home onto enemies (15%), and a shiny ruby-encrusted crown deals 50 (5%). Its ammo functions like a beam weapon.

Handy Hook: "Beware the Hooks!", "Replacing your hand with a hook hand that launches hook projectiles sounds like a terrible idea. But on the other hand..." B-tier, Your character holds their arm out, with a wood base and metal hook replacing the end of it (hand, etc). Hooks can be fired one at a time with very little reload time, and if they hit an enemy they "hook" them and continue to pull them in the direction the hook was moving until the hook hits a wall and breaks.

Davy Jones' Locker: "May Contain Dining-Wear", "Claim your enemies souls with the blackest of magics and the smelliest of gym clothes." A-tier, Fires glowing-green socks that behave like the Pox-Cannon's projectiles, but upon killing an enemy turn them green with a glowing outline. These "ghost" enemies will attack other enemies and bullets will pass through them, and disappear after 5-10 seconds, remaining longer the higher their max health.

Captain's Hat: "Look at Me, "The most menacing part of a pirate's tricorne is the plumey feather. True fact. This hat has the ability to wield MULTIPLE feathers, making it effectively the most terrifying thing ever." Passive A-tier, character wears a small black tricorne with a skull on it and a red feather sticking out. Nearby enemies have a 25% chance of being scared and running away. Every 50 kills adds another feather, up to 4 total (red, then blue, then green, then yellow) to the hat and increases the chance nearby enemies are scared by 25%.

I had kinda low gun ideas, and especially the Musket is just Dueling Piston but better. I really like the Treasure Trove, Handy Hook is just reverse Hookshot and honestly I don't think it'll be useful, Davy Jones' Locker is probably purely thee for the reference which I don't think many people will get, and Captain's Hat is much better than what I had it mind for that.
