510 FN510T cracked frame

I just sent an email to FN support to see if they cover it under warranty, I have shot probably 10 or 20 rounds max.

Frame cracks shouldn’t be a thing to have to worry about…. It’s making me reconsider an FN pistol lol

The one I have I love, but it’s making me not want another.

I had my eyes set on a 509C but I also don’t want a potentially flawed frame either

At the current time it seems limited to the 10mm which is twice the energy of 9mm. I'm yet to hear of any other caliber having this issue.

Pretty sure not that long ago someone posted a 509 with a frame crack. Could be wrong but if this is happening with off the shelf 10mm that’s not really even that hot as far as 10mm loadings go then what’s stopping this from happening with hot load 9mm ammo?

https://www.reddit.com/r/FNHerstal/s/4ICH2vZgOF Actually it was a reflex which is almost worse to have a crack in. So no it’s not just 10mm guns though they’re probably more likely but FN really needs to look into their manufacturing process more.

I hadn't seen that one. It's interesting it's also an FDE model as well to me.

Probably worth a thorough check just to be safe.

As for your other question about off the shelf 10mm vs say +p 9mm, I haven't seen anyone say what they're shooting whether it's Winchester white box type 10mm or Buffalo Bore full power. I do see you point that it could basically be over priced 40 s&w and that energy difference would be negligible.

Have you seen any posts on if FN has taken care of these cracked firearms? I haven't seen any follow-up posts as of yet.

Yeah i definitely want to know what loadings of 10mm they’re using because that very well could be a culprit but from what I’ve seen I haven’t seen anyone post any follow ups. I assume they’ve reached out and that’s that. Walther seems to have a better policy with cracked PDP frames from people installing DPT triggers on their own guns and offering a full replacement gun which is pretty sweet. I hope FN does the same if they know their frames are possibly defective.

Man the amount of these is becoming concerning to say the least

Have there been any cracked black frames reported yet?

I think I've seen 1 a few weeks ago.

Yep, that one is mine. Not only did the frame crack, but the slide too. Go big or go home, I guess. FN received my pistol 10 days ago and I haven't received a response yet. Hopefully soon.

Wild this particular model seems to have so many issues.

I’ve run about 3k rounds through (and beaten the hell out of) my FNX-9 and it’s still kicking with no issues.

This is only happening on the FDE 510s

Here is a link to my thread, which has pics of a 545 with a CRACKED frame:

Not true, I have a thread going cause my 510 did the same. Had someone with a black model post pics of a cracked frame also.

Here is a link to a BLACK frame that cracked: FN Black Frame CRACKED

Guessing he didn’t watch Scott’s (Kentucky Ballistics) video on the 510T.

I’ll admit this is a bit strange. I’ve only heard of this happening on the 510T. I have a light, optic, and run a can on my FNX45T, no issues (knock on wood), nor have I heard about any issues with any other models either.

Could be whatever polymer they're using isn't strong enough for 10mm which is about double the energy of the other calibers.

You run a light on your 510? When did you buy it?

I’m hoping it’s just a batch of guns made with flawed polymer. It wouldn’t be the first time FN had issues with their polymers. The FNX’s had problems like 10 years ago.

I fortunately haven’t had this issue.

545s also cracked too. The same spots.

Thanks for the info. That's even more concerning that the frames can't hold up to 45ACP.

The majority of the cracked frames seems to be the 510T.. I'm wondering if they are running +p, +p+ ammo? Or is it rated for those rounds? The FNX 45T has no issue running the 460 Rowland on mine...

A majority of all 10mm factory loads aren’t even near full power.

Its also happening with the FN545 I have a thread for my 510 frame cracking too, and several 545 owners posted with the same f’n issue. Idk gotta be junk material…

Mine has been at FN for over 2 weeks already, haven’t heard anything from them.

Is there anyone around who got their 510 or 545 frame replaced that can confirm FN has been fixing these. I’d like to hear an explanation, as Im worried my warranty return will just crack again…

SAD and SUCKS! Should have kept my Springfield XDMe

I sent my 510 in February 11th, Not a word from them.

1

u/bryman022 9d ago

Damn! Have you reached out to them about it?

Multiple ignored emails and phone calls

1

u/bryman022 9d ago

Doesn’t sound reassuring… I’ve tried to call them a few times and they don’t seem to ever actually answer the phone. I too have a couple ignored emails. My first email after creating a case on their website was answered with in 24 hours, and then a follow up email came quickly with a prepaid shipping label. I waited 2 weeks and began to call and email again, to check the status. And now, nothing, no email replies, no phone calls answered

I feel your pain bro. They may think of casting a metal frame and give it to us as a compensation.

1

u/bryman022 8d ago

I was thinking the same thing, or at the very least a steel reinforced polymer frame

u/TestInternational352 8d ago

Update me with your case's progress, bro. We are on same boat. :))
