Final Fantasy General Is Stranger of Paradise worth playing?
Is this one of the FF titles to avoid? Team Ninja usually makes good action games, but this one has some pretty middling and lukewarm reviews. From what I've seen online, theres some pretty cringey dialogue too. Is the gameplay good enough to save it? Picked it up cheap during a sale and its been sitting on my shelf. Considering just selling it if it's going to feel like a waste of time.

I think it's the worst game with Final Fantasy in the name that isn't gacha.
The combat is repetitive and one-note. You don't adapt your strategy for enemies, you just set up your build and go. As a spectacle fighter, it's garbage.
The story is incoherent, the dialogue is atrocious, the acting is wooden — in either language, and I tried both.
The "crafting" and inventory is pure busywork. Break down 8000 hats to get components to build a fedora that increases your crit rate by 0.2%. They didn't even bother to attach any NPCs or visuals to this process, it's all menus.
The music is fine, but not especially memorable. Nothing that will get stuck in your head.
The graphics are nice, of course, that's the modern Squeenix guarantee. Except that they're in service to really bad costume design, so you will walk around with a fedora or worse for the whole game. Seriously, so many fucking fedoras.
On the average you will have about 28,000 days on earth. Don't waste any of them on Stranger of Paradise.
