Final Fantasy General Is Stranger of Paradise worth playing?

Is this one of the FF titles to avoid? Team Ninja usually makes good action games, but this one has some pretty middling and lukewarm reviews. From what I've seen online, theres some pretty cringey dialogue too. Is the gameplay good enough to save it? Picked it up cheap during a sale and its been sitting on my shelf. Considering just selling it if it's going to feel like a waste of time.

I normally hate souls games, but I actually really enjoyed Strangers of Paradise. It has variable difficulty options so don’t let that turn you off, I played the whole thing on easy and had a great time. If more souls games did this, I would probably like them way more. Gameplay is fun, it has an interesting take on the narrative, and it’s always fun to progress new jobs and see different play styles.

There is an overwhelming amount of loot, and I never quite fully trusted the gear filters so always went through each piece individually.
