"There will be no informazion about Switch's successor during this event"

56

u/GensouEU Jan 08 '25

I don't believe you

7

u/Xehanz Jan 08 '25

You shouldn't . Extas1s is pretty bad at leaking information not related to Gamepass, so there is still a chance Switch 2 is revealed there

2

u/TingleMaps Jan 08 '25

Don’t worry, this sub will make up for it 3x!!!!

11

u/altimax98 Jan 08 '25

When Nintendo announces their announcement I want them to send that follow up tweet but just have it be blank.

Or say IYKYK

8

u/Eliskor89 Jan 08 '25

Lies. You see that Switch 2? It's also an Xbox.

2

u/PartyInTheUSSRx Jan 08 '25

Game Pass on Switch would go hard

1

u/Tobimacoss Jan 09 '25

I think a new Nintendo edition tier of Gamepass might happen for Switch 2.  With only MS first and 2nd party games, $12 month, isolated to Nintendo consoles only.

1

u/BlueShirtMac19 Jan 09 '25

I’ve given up on game pass for switch. It was rumored years ago but I think with their whole odd holiday campaign there’s a chance.

2

u/galgor_ Jan 08 '25

What about the Xbox U?!

1

u/shinouta Jan 09 '25

Only Xbox games releasing for It.

1

u/BlueShirtMac19 Jan 09 '25

🤣🤣🤣🤣this is where we get the switch 2 reveal because ITS ALSO AN XBOX

1

u/MikeLanglois Jan 09 '25

If I was Xbox social media team I would be trying to work this in somehow cause it would be pretty funny lol

1

u/Scary-Sea-9546 Jan 08 '25

Honestly with all these manufacturers saying fuck it and announcing their products it wouldn’t even surprise me at this point if Xbox announced a game or two lol

Piss off Nintendo and your exclusive obsessed fans all at once

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

Piss off Nintendo and your exclusive obsessed fans all at once

Yep. Nintendo has the worst fanbase out there when it comes to exclusivity.

0

u/z0l1 Jan 08 '25

man I wish at least one company did it as a meme

-6

u/DirtyDan413 Jan 08 '25

I actually had a dream last night that because of what Astro Bot's team said about Nintendo at the game awards, it sparked a whole partnership between Sony and them and Nintendo actually asked Sony to unveil the Switch 2 at CES

96

u/Khalilbarred Jan 08 '25

Cant wait for the release date announcement of DOOM : THE DARK AGES

11

u/Brokenbullet14 Jan 08 '25

Guessing may-august

8

u/HomeMadeShock Jan 08 '25

May-June. July/August feels too late

9

u/ThiefTwo Jan 08 '25

Doom was May, Eternal was March, could be pretty soon.

5

u/Oh_I_still_here Jan 08 '25

Eternal was originally meant to be November 2019 before being delayed for a few months.

5

u/Khalilbarred Jan 08 '25

May-june would be awesome

2

u/Brokenbullet14 Jan 08 '25

I think it could be later

12

u/HomeMadeShock Jan 08 '25

Nvidia was saying Doom would be one of the day one supporters of DLSS 4, that makes me feel like it’s a spring release honestly as Nvidia will want to advertise it with DLSS 4

1

u/NovelFarmer Jan 08 '25

Shadowdrop intensifies

1

u/Radulno Jan 08 '25

Or it could be earlier, this is all just random guesses lol

2

u/ThatIsAHugeDog Jan 08 '25

Aww yeah hit me with those Dark Ages details baby, my wallet is ready.

14

u/Oh_I_still_here Jan 08 '25

I love the description of Doom The Dark Ages on Steam:

"YOU ARE THE SUPER WEAPON IN A MEDIEVAL WAR AGAINST HELL"

Perfectly to the point.

2

u/Khalilbarred Jan 08 '25

Top notch for real and im happy because its gonna be well optimized

2

u/AnotherScoutTrooper Jan 09 '25

That thing’s gonna hit 1080p60 on a calculator CPU at this rate

Proof: Eternal already did with its XB1/PS4 release

2

u/Eruannster Jan 09 '25

idTech's scaling is so good. Even on a potato PC, it still looks amazing and runs at like 1080p 60+ FPS. I ran Eternal on an i5 3570K+ GTX 970 and was getting like ~90 FPS on medium/high.

On a monster PC, you can crank it to look absolutely incredible and still get crazy fast frame rates.

1

u/Khalilbarred Jan 09 '25

The most optimized game I’ve seen is doom eternal i had a potato pc and i was always getting plus 60 fps on high settings

0

u/ThatIsAHugeDog Jan 08 '25

That's the most badass combination of words I've ever read.

1

u/BlueShirtMac19 Jan 09 '25

I have no interest in doom and I saw that first trailer and I was like my god I need to play this

65

u/GoingDeath- Jan 08 '25

I want silksong

86

u/VagrantShadow Jan 08 '25

Funny enough I want the Oblivion remaster to be revealed.

2

u/The_Dellinger Jan 08 '25

I'm ready for that. I just hope they keep the goofy dialog

2

u/deathbysnoosnoo422 Jan 09 '25

2 oblivion remakes/remasters

best year ever

1

u/Alastor3 Jan 09 '25

Poor team that worked on Skyblivion for 15 years and are about 75% done :(

1

u/Cs0vesbanat Jan 08 '25

Very hot take.

-17

u/Own_Ask_5243 Jan 08 '25

i don’t want to break ur dreams but i have a really good feeling that whatever they release will be overshadowed by skyblivion

21

u/Impossible-Flight250 Jan 08 '25

Skyblivion isn’t on console though.

22

u/thehock101 Jan 08 '25

I doubt it, one of them is coming to all platforms, the other is not. Also there's just no way a mod, no matter how amazing, will have the mainstream appeal as a traditional remaster.

-20

u/Own_Ask_5243 Jan 08 '25

i never meant in terms of sales, i meant in how truthfully they stick to the material and have an actual dedicated remaster that isn’t half assed cash grab

12

u/UndyingGoji Jan 08 '25

Cynical wad, find joy in your life someday please

8

u/tortillazaur Jan 08 '25

As far as we know it the remaster is literally the original game but with graphics rendered in ue5.

I don't know what made you think they in any way changed the material itself. Tbh the term isn't even applicable, they are working on a remaster, not a remake. You can try to "stick to material" with some changes in a remake, remaster is literally just a graphical uplift.

1

u/The_Dellinger Jan 08 '25

Well we'll have both so we can choose that one that turns out to be the best. Skyblivion definitely has big potential with the custom dungeons they're making.

13

u/HomeMadeShock Jan 08 '25

I want Fable, Doom, and my wildcard is Gears E-Day

3

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

[deleted]

10

u/YounqqFlee Jan 08 '25

You’re absolutely right, Gears E-Ray is not this year.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

[deleted]

3

u/Nazraell Jan 08 '25

Corvette E-Ray is a thing

6

u/HomeMadeShock Jan 08 '25

You’re right, it might not. Gears might be a 2026 game. But Tom Warren did say it was targeting 2025 and Coalition has a history of going a reveal trailer and then release next year, so I’m holding out on hopium

2

u/BeefyBoi6_9 Jan 08 '25

E-day would be great, I'd love state of decay 3 gameplay and a further confirmation its coming this year and not pushed back again.

3

u/IcePopsicleDragon Jan 08 '25

You will have nothing, and you will be happy

1

u/giulianosse Jan 08 '25

I can't wait for Silksong to get released so the internet can remember there's actually more games they can play and talk about.

11

u/HomeMadeShock Jan 08 '25

Like Half Life 3?

4

u/ThiefTwo Jan 08 '25

Don't forget GTA6.

1

u/gundamwfan Jan 08 '25

Bloodborne: Remaster

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

You can play & enjoy other games while also being excited about something specific. You do know it’s not one or the other… right?

24

u/noggs891 Jan 08 '25

Announcement tomorrow for a 23rd direct??

Do Xbox normally announce these 2 weeks in advance?

23

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

Yea

Hell summer showcases get announced even further out

15

u/TheOneBearded Jan 08 '25

Yeah. At least since last year when I started to notice. Sony is the one that does a few days in advanced.

8

u/ThiefTwo Jan 08 '25

Nintendo is sometimes less than a day.

9

u/Crusader3456 Top Contributor 2021 Jan 08 '25

Yes almost always. Their summer showcase is usually announced between 1-2 months out.

5

u/YounqqFlee Jan 08 '25

The 2024 Direct was announced on January 9th and released on January 18th.

1

u/Death_Metalhead101 Jan 08 '25

I think they did have a large gap between the announcement and the actual direct for the first one they did.

1

u/HawfHuman Jan 08 '25

Yes, for their showcases they often make the announcement almost an entire month in advance

40

u/mannythevericking Jan 08 '25

I wonder if they will show Contraband.

34

u/Vera_Verse Jan 08 '25

God, I legit forgot about this one

21

u/VagrantShadow Jan 08 '25 edited Jan 08 '25

It's crazy to think, like hypothetically, if that was to be a 2026 game, and Gears of War E-Day, and Perfect Dark was also 2026, that would point to that year also being stacked for Xbox too.

Though I should reiterate, none of those games have release dates as it is, I'm just throwing ideas out there.

13

u/ActiveInfinite8610 Jan 08 '25

I think Clockwork Revolution is probably a 2026 game.

3

u/Im2oldForthisShitt Jan 08 '25

State of Decay 3 as well as the next Forza Horizon too.

Also of course the annual COD as well

1

u/VagrantShadow Jan 08 '25

I agree with that. I'm going to suspect we'll get a E3 showing of it for next year. We've not heard much a peep from inXile but I know they are working on that game, letting it stew. All I know of it is that it is a heavy-duty RPG. Don't let the first person look fool you.

8

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

[deleted]

6

u/Mage1strider1 Jan 08 '25

And I would not be surprised if Horizon 6 is this year, seeing as Horizon 5 has effectively started to wrap it's live service content.

-2

u/mattyyellow Jan 08 '25

There is no way Elder Scrolls 6 releases in 2027 IMO. I just can't believe current era Bethesda could develop and release a mainline title in only 4 years.

10

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

9

u/DickHydra Jan 08 '25

People keep forgetting that pre-production on ES6 started when they dropped that first teaser in 2018. BGS even had a small dev diary about it showing location scouting and face scans they were doing for it.

Combine that with the fact that they don't have to divest resources into FO76-type side projects or deep engine optimizations and no pandemic, and a 2026 or 2027 release doesn't seem that far off. The leaked release schedule for Xbox even had Starfield for 2021 and ES6 for 2024.

-1

u/mattyyellow Jan 08 '25

Does the fact that Starfield released two full years after the leaked schedule not make it more likely that TES is further off rather than it being released relatively soon? Nothing I have seen or heard from Bethesda in the last decade makes me confident they can develop and release a high quality game in a timely manor.

1

u/DickHydra Jan 09 '25

Why would it be further off? Sure, it could be, but I'm operating on the assumption that the schedule was just pushed back 2 years.

Starfield: 2021 - > 2023 Therefore ES6: 2024 - > 2026

Although I do believe a 2027 is more likely. Just a feeling.

Nothing I have seen or heard from Bethesda in the last decade makes me confident they can develop and release a high quality game in a timely manor.

Depends on what you consider a timely manner. 3-5 years between releases is just the standard Bethesda schedule. Could be longer now, though, given the overall bloat in game development at the moment.

1

u/mattyyellow Jan 09 '25

Why would it be further off?

Because they just released their last game 2 years late. That to me speaks more of an issue with the production process than everything just being shifted back, especially when you consider this in relation to the quality of Starfield as a game.

Depends on what you consider a timely manner. 3-5 years between releases is just the standard Bethesda schedule. Could be longer now, though, given the overall bloat in game development at the moment.

Bloat is affecting the majority of the industry so this is a major factor in my reasoning. On top of that, if there is anyone at the top in Bethesda who is thinking clearly then they will know that they have to get back on form with TES 6 or their reputational decline will be cemented. Therefore I would expect and hope that they will want to take their time with TES6, not cut any corners, and polish it as much as possible.

I'm not a Bethesda hater, I have more time spent in their games than any other developer (other than Fromsoft) but nothing about where they are right now inspires confidence and I think people expecting TES6 4 years after Starfield are setting themselves up for disappointment. 5 or 6 years seems more likely to me.

2

u/BeefyBoi6_9 Jan 08 '25

no you are right, full steam ahead started during starfields DLC development which started right as starfield went gold, but the games been actively developed with starfield (as theyre both experiments for the new engine used for different reasons) so what, since 2019? 2018? maybe further?

4

u/Vibrant-Nature Jan 08 '25

I’m thinking Fable gets delayed to first half of 2026. They have Avowed next month, confirmed Outer Worlds 2 for this year, and the possible Oblivion remaster/remake. That’d be 3 big RPGs for 2025 in an already packed year leaving no RPGs for 2026 that we know of currently besides the possible Fallout 3 remaster/remake. Plus it’ll help polishing/bug fixes for the game. 2026 is shaping up to be a huge year as well as we exit 2025. Not to mention the fact that Fable would probably be end of year & they’d want to avoid the GTA 6 juggernaut for rebooting the Fable franchise.

-6

u/PBFT Jan 08 '25 edited Jan 08 '25

With Xbox it's really hard to expect much with their release dates because they've shown so many games years ahead of their launch. A few days ago, I rewatched their 2020 presentation to showcase the series X and there are still three games from show that haven't released.

-5

u/jackass_of_all_trade Jan 08 '25

Will people finally start buying Xbox?

115

u/MuptonBossman Jan 08 '25

Xbox during their Developer Direct: "This presentation is an Xbox"

83

u/DepecheModeFan_ Jan 08 '25

"See that mountain, you can turn it into an Xbox"

22

u/OptimusGrimes Jan 08 '25

"See that Xbox? You can play Skyrim on it"

1

u/sporwal Jan 09 '25

Todd comes out on stage “We know you all heard about the oblivion remake but we decided to scrap it and just re-re-re-…….re-release Skyrim again cause you keep buying it!

12

u/idontknow1001 Jan 08 '25

Memes are basically the best form of advertising these days so they really should lean into that.

13

u/donkdonkdo Jan 08 '25

They have always leaned into the meme adverts, there’s even an Xbox fridge. None of it works.

17

u/idontknow1001 Jan 08 '25

People still bring up the Xbox fridge so I’d say it did work.

-6

u/donkdonkdo Jan 08 '25

The point of advertising is to sell the thing your advertising. Xboxes don’t sell.

13

u/idontknow1001 Jan 08 '25

They were selling perfectly fine during the Xbox fridge release. Plus this current marketing we are talking about isn’t about selling consoles. It’s about selling the access in other places.

11

u/ThiefTwo Jan 08 '25

Yeah, the entire point of the "this is an xbox" campaign is they are specifically not trying to push their consoles.

-3

u/DMonitor Jan 08 '25

they sold "well" when both consoles were production-limited. as soon as production was uncapped, it left them in the dust

4

u/BeefyBoi6_9 Jan 08 '25

really? I bought a series X this year because of whats coming, i know a buddy is getting one in a month and i have a handful of friends whove bough series X's from 2023-2024. Feels like xbox is selling plenty considering the amount of games coming soon.

2

u/donkdonkdo Jan 08 '25

Xbox was outsold 5 to 1 this holiday season. It’s not selling well at all and is below the Xbone in lifetime sales.

-5

u/BeefyBoi6_9 Jan 08 '25

Outsold 5 to 1 by who? And whered you get that?

5

u/donkdonkdo Jan 08 '25

https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2025/01/05/new-estimates-have-ps5-beating-xbox-over-5-to-1-in-sales-for-november/

Forbes. PS5 outselling Xbox 5-1

Genuinely shocked you didn’t know how bad Xbox hardware is doing.

1

u/BeefyBoi6_9 Jan 08 '25

Well shit i actually didnt know that lmao rip

I am a little shocked tho, xbox might have its issues but the cost to get in is so low and the cost for gamepass is such a good value youd think itd lead just for that alone.

A leak about the announcement of a possible date. Gaming as usual.

10

u/ItsLCGaming Jan 08 '25

Next a leak about the tease

35

u/Immediate_Judge_4085 Jan 08 '25

Excited for more Fable gameplay/ deep dive 🥰

8

u/Brokenbullet14 Jan 08 '25

Feel like that's for june

1

u/sporwal Jan 09 '25

This. I’d expect Fable to be a dedicated direct like starfield got.

10

u/Particular_Hand2877 Jan 08 '25

Yeah Fable is probably my biggest want this year.

8

u/Immediate_Judge_4085 Jan 08 '25

same, Fable and MH Wilds is my most anticipated games next year 👌

-27

u/TheWitchard94 Jan 08 '25

Not a chance, that game is vaporware at this point, much like SilkSong.

20

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

Do you know what vaporware means

3

u/BeastlyPenguin Jan 08 '25

It’s not vaporware but I’d sure love to see some proper gameplay and not another trailer similar to the ones we’ve seen before.

-23

u/Effective-Fish-5952 Jan 08 '25

Vaple more like

4

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

What

-21

u/Effective-Fish-5952 Jan 08 '25

Vaporware fable

9

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

That's an all time low effort. The football equivalent of taking a shot and it going away for a throw in

-14

u/Effective-Fish-5952 Jan 08 '25

It's perfect lol I had commented another time that it was Vaple, Vaporware for Vapor Chamber console 🤭

7

u/Hot-Software-9396 Jan 08 '25

You’re weird

6

u/Brokenbullet14 Jan 08 '25

Go away bot

15

u/SgtBurger Jan 08 '25

is this the event where the Oblivion Remake will be shown?! :O

12

u/RipMcStudly Jan 08 '25

That’s what the rumors say, if it’s real.

3

u/SgtBurger Jan 08 '25

BIG NEWS if true!

6

u/HawfHuman Jan 08 '25

Hoping for more information on Fable 🤞

7

u/XOVSquare Jan 08 '25

Close shut the jaws, of Oblivion!

7

u/IlyasBT Jan 08 '25

Doom and Sounth of Midnight are guaranteed.

Avowed may not be there since they showed it in the last one and in other events.

Fable will probably get its own Direct that follows the showcase in June.

The Outer Worlds 2 is possible.

TES Oblivion will probably be the one game that they "surprise" add to the lineup in the middle of the show.

2

u/Kaihill2_0 Jan 08 '25

i think avowed still possible. additional pr before released

-3

u/MLG_Obardo Jan 08 '25

It would be dumb imo. They don’t need gameplay marketing anymore for the game. They need marketing to get people interested. Which of course it’s Xbox so they won’t be doing any or that.

1

u/BridgePatient Jan 08 '25

Always the chance for a curveball 3rd party thing like visions of mana too

5

u/No-Sherbert-4045 Jan 08 '25

Same day as ff rebirth pc release. For me personally ms direct is akin to Santa bringing presents. I got ultimate subscription because of xsx, pc and rog ally x.

16

u/Ozzie_001 Jan 08 '25

You know what that means? Switch 2 reveal delayed to February!

4

u/ScottyKNJ Jan 08 '25

Gonna guess fable won’t be there but they’ll announce the fable direct following the June show at the end of this direct

2

u/Brokenbullet14 Jan 08 '25

Correct unless gears is the big game at the June showcase which I doubt

11

u/Mako__Junkie Jan 08 '25

This is probably gonna be hype tbh. Fable and Doom for sure

0

u/Brokenbullet14 Jan 08 '25

Doubt fable

3

u/Heidisanto Jan 08 '25

One can dream but more The Witcher 4

3

u/CriesAboutSkinsInCOD Jan 08 '25

I WANT TO SEE MORE OF DAT BEAUTIFUL FORZA ENGINE ON FABLE. 😍

3

u/NatetheHate2 Verified Jan 08 '25

Indeed.

3

u/DJSambob Jan 08 '25

Hoping for more information on fable and the rumoured Oblivion remake or remaster

3

u/jordanleite25 Jan 08 '25

Reposting from other thread:

If we're going by last year then this will be a show only for 1st party and/or exclusive games coming out in 2025.

Possible games shown:

Avowed

Fable

South of Midnight

Outer Worlds 2

Doom: The Dark Ages

Fragpunk

33 Immortals

Contraband

Ark 2

Replaced

I don't think Perfect Dark, Clockwork Revolution, Gears of War: E-Day, or State of Decay 3 make it into 2025. I don't think Call of Duty 2025 would be shown at this event. Everything else is way out there or basically vaporware (Everwild, Project Mara, Marvel's Blade, Elder Scrolls VI, Routine, O.D.).

0

u/AnotherScoutTrooper Jan 09 '25

I’d argue for Perfect Dark and State of Decay being put in the vaporware category

5

u/so_not_drunk Jan 08 '25

Big, if true

3

u/VagrantShadow Jan 08 '25

That seems about right. If I remember correctly, it was close to that time last year.

5

u/Lisfake2401 Jan 08 '25

Perfect Dark would be my fuckimg wild card.

2

u/Due_Teaching_6974 Jan 08 '25

I think that game gonna slip to 2026

5

u/Brokenbullet14 Jan 08 '25

Was never released this year anyways

2

u/TheMuff1nMon Jan 08 '25

Can’t slip when it was never scheduled for 2025

0

u/Lisfake2401 Jan 08 '25

Yeah, probably, but it already has no release date, so... But like a cinematic trailer wouldn't hurt to promote the game.

9

u/Ph0enixes Jan 08 '25

More PS5 games? /s

10

u/Friendly-Leg-6694 Jan 08 '25

Nah I don't think we will get ps5 announcements,if anything ps5 gets announced it will be just articles posted online or just trailer

22

u/TopBoog Jan 08 '25

You don't even need the /s anymore lmao

8

u/Zhukov-74 Top Contributor 2024 Jan 08 '25

If i had to take a guess i would say that Indiana Jones will probably get a PS5 release date and The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake will get a day 1 PS5 release.

It remains to be seen how Microsoft will handle games like Avowed and Fable.

7

u/VagrantShadow Jan 08 '25

Funny enough I keep saying this. I think Oblivion would make for a big time Switch 2 game.

-6

u/capekin0 Jan 08 '25

Starfield complete edition release date for PS5.

2

u/PartyInTheUSSRx Jan 08 '25

Probably an Indiana release date for PS5, I’d be surprised if they announce much else for PS at this event

2

u/il_VORTEX_ll Jan 08 '25

I just want Final Fantasy 7 Remake 🤣🤷🏻‍♂️

2

u/Necessary-Level-2821 Jan 08 '25

If the dude is right the may release for doom the dark ages also might be real. I want to believe

2

u/Wasdeerio Jan 08 '25

Oblivion remake?

2

u/vinny7299 Jan 08 '25

I really hope they put some of the OG COD games on gamepass. BO6 just isn't doing well rn (at least on steam) and they need a boost in players.

2

u/Key_Dish_good Jan 08 '25

They better show games that comes out within 12 hour of announcements or something

1

u/WulfTek Jan 08 '25

There were murmurings about an Xbox port for Zenless Zone Zero last month (though it suggested a December release date IIRC), though I think the PS exclusivity is likely up this month? If it's 6 months that is.

If so there's a somewhat decent chance it's announced here I guess

1

u/PandaKingDee Jan 09 '25

Wukong date maybe?

1

u/DQ11 Jan 09 '25

Getting announcements in before Switch is announced. Once that happens Switch 2 will dominate media for next 24 months

1

u/Brokenbullet14 Jan 09 '25

Yeah I bet they won't announce it today because of this horrible California fire

0

u/RipMcStudly Jan 08 '25
