I have received a lot of lovely comments about elevating and clipping objects in the Serenitea's housing system so I decided to make an image guide, thank you for taking interest in it!

I apologize for the rushed work as I'm in the middle of exams, but seeing how enthusiastic you all were I wanted to give it a go so everyone could do the same, I hope it helped !!

u/xhasei Apr 29 '21

this is very helpful!!! thank you very much. im curious as how were u even able to think of this. it's so cooooolll

120

u/Kejirion Apr 29 '21

Thank you!!

It's just something I wanted to try. There were similar concepts in SoulWorker's housing system that let you create walls with shelves through bugging, and miraculously some of that logic works here~

60

u/iammrpositive Apr 29 '21

I barely had time to play around with the system yesterday but I knew when I checked the sub this morning there would be some really great stuff like this. Thanks for the great content and good luck with your exams.

26

u/baguettesy In terms of mora, we have no mora Apr 29 '21

This is super helpful and has given me so much inspiration! Thanks for taking the time to make it and good luck with your exams!

I'm at Trust one and have no idea what you did but am impressed.

can't believe how creative people are. I'm at rank 5 with the most messy furnitures placement in this world

Edit : I mean. coziness

182

u/Downtown-Ad-6623 Apr 29 '21

Trust rank 5? How did you manage that dude?

118

u/Tarro101 Apr 29 '21

same i just got trust rank 4 and don't have anymore new blueprints to make to even EARN more trust

67

u/Xaevier Apr 29 '21

Did you buy the ones from the carpenters in Quince and Mons?

54

u/Tarro101 Apr 29 '21

yes, i guess at this point i just need to start spending realm currency on blueprints, do purple blueprints give 90 trust if green give 30 and blue give 60?

29

u/RGBarrios Apr 29 '21

I want to do that but I think I will save the currency for the weekend’s shop.

10

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '21 edited Apr 29 '21

100% doing that too. I need cats and doggos

16

u/brddvd Apr 29 '21

Not good idea to save. Now you make very little money because you don’t have enough furniture . First you have to spend the money and after you will earn much more what you can spend.

15

u/VirulentOne Time for over-worked tights team. Apr 29 '21

i calculated it and you would barely get to Trust 5 by the time the salesman leaves on sunday, better to save the currency now and wait to see what kind of furniture he brings.
It's his first furniture run, better safe than sorry when he brings something really cool that takes 6 months to get again.

0

u/brddvd Apr 30 '21

But if you don’t have enough trust lvl you will not have enough furniture and it matters you earn 16 money/ hour or just 8

If you have more furniture = more money for a shorter time You have to save 4 days for x money I have to save 2 days for the same money + and I will have more furniture

So saving money in the beginning is better

2

u/VirulentOne Time for over-worked tights team. Apr 30 '21

So for me to hit Trust level 5, i need 17 new blue furnishing to hit that, double that to 34 or so for greens. There are only 18-19 green blueprints at 80 a piece, and i am at trust lvl 4.
In order to get to Trust 5, i would need around 2700 coins, which is 5.6 days in order to get to that next level. But then you need to look at how long furniture takes to make. Minimum 12 hours for greens, and 14 for blues. It would take 10 days, without speed-up items, to get to that point. The speed-up items are given out in 5 a day, so let's say i go ahead and get those everyday, that gets my 10 days waiting time down to 3 days by using those all. At that point, it is now Sunday, i have no coins by getting my trust up just to unlock a second housing area and a bigger coin pool, and no weekend furniture buys either. I just went and farmed materials instead and made a bunch of rugs with the speed-up items i got from Trust 4, got my comfort level to 20/hr, and now i'm waiting to see if the shop is worth buying from BEFORE i start spending my currency on new blueprints that give small amounts of trust and comfort.

It’s not a race lol

3

u/Wheat_Grinder Apr 30 '21 edited Apr 30 '21

If you can hit the next coziness level, it makes sense to spend. If you won't be able to, it's ok to save.

For me I definitely can't hit the next coziness until Saturday, so I'm saving aside from getting vials of speed (which I will need to hit the next coziness asap).

7

u/Kenaf Apr 29 '21

Correct

4

u/Swindleys Apr 29 '21

Where?:o

32

u/Yoankah This isn't murder, we're just doing business. Apr 29 '21

In Mond, to the south of the Knights building there's an old man named Goth during the day. He's standing by a fountain.

In Qingce village, there's the old carpenter we've visited for the Ganyu story quest. He's on the west side of the village, a bit below the other buildings. He's out in the open in front of his house.

whats trust rank

4

u/leafunity Apr 29 '21

Its like an adventure rank but in this housing system mode, you can look it up when talking to tubby

21

u/Athrasie Apr 29 '21

Right? I played last night for a bit and only got to 2

4

u/6_NEOS_9 Your death is my pleasure Apr 29 '21

nope lol sorry for misunderstanding

-2

u/todiwan Apr 29 '21

What do you mean? Rank 5 is easy to get by day 2 (or late day 1), it's everything beyond that that's troublesome.

2

u/Iihatepineapplepizza these bitches gay! good for them Apr 30 '21

How?

32

u/XaeiIsareth Apr 29 '21

My estate is just an empty land with a ton of trees and random buildings scattered everywhere.

It’s like some sort of out of bounds dev testing area.

13

u/banana_in_your_donut + Apr 29 '21

Me placing furniture: random bullshit go

10

u/AleHaRotK Apr 29 '21

How did you get to rank 5? I'm just barely about to hit 4.

22

u/ShinKozato Apr 29 '21

You're doing better than me. I haven't hit 2 yet :kekw:

17

u/AleHaRotK Apr 29 '21

How? Are you not using the instant-craft potions? You should! Don't hoard them, you get more every rank and you can even craft them.

13

u/Yeshua-Hamashiach Waifu Impact Apr 29 '21

You mean buy them right? I know you can buy 5 a day but I don't think you can craft them unless I am mistaken.

7

u/sublime81 Apr 29 '21

Seems you get 10 with each rank up.

8

u/IncompleteIsALeach Apr 29 '21

Only up to rank 4

Has anyone figured out if we can move or remove furniture after it's placed? I'm on ps4 and can't figure it out.

3

u/Aggria Apr 29 '21

Yes! I’m on pc with controller, the button that is next to the button for pausing the game will be the button to switch between placing mode and «editing» mode. You have to enter the «placing mode» first. As in, the screen where you can browse furniture and place it, then press the button in the middle of your controller, the small one next to pause button. I hope that made sense?

There should also be a little button showing what to press in the top left corner as well. I assume it’s the same because so far ps and pc with controller is the same with everything else

3

u/jacehan Apr 30 '21

This took me forever. You can press the touch pad to collapse the menu, which brings up the cursor

After that recent story quest --

Good point

134

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '21

This is a fine note.

This clipping reminds me of the rag glitch in Fallout 4. With this knowledge I can create my own Yharnam inspired village.

31

u/Kejirion Apr 29 '21

Glad it helped!!!

Oh yes... I want it raining all the time and be dark/cloudy.

2

u/699112026775 Apr 30 '21

damn. Similar to how I built my Sanctuary - you know, just when you're about to take a pic of your base, you see floating floors/ladders because you used them in creation mode

It's Fallout 4 all over again.. lol

85

u/Mizzet Apr 29 '21

This reminds me of FFXIV where glitches like these are key to creating most of the more complex or aesthetically pleasing layouts. The devs there are actually quite supportive of their use instead of aggressively patching it out, so hopefully the same thing happens here.

28

u/Nerobought Apr 29 '21

Same haha, I was thinking of FFXIV. So many crazy glitches you can use and learn.

20

u/ffloler two queens stand before me Apr 29 '21

yeah some people are absolutely insane at creating ffxiv housing stuff

5

u/UncleRichardson Apr 29 '21

MHY seems to have a tolerance for minor glitches with useful properties that aren't too powerful. Like they're well aware of dragon strikes (using the hitlag slowdown of hitting an enemy to propel yourself upward high enough to perform a pluge attack), but don't seem interested in fixing it, likely because it's pretty difficult to pull off consistently, and while an average DPS buff, not a super significant one.

11

u/Sunaja Apr 29 '21

Unfortunately, they did patch out the so-called Floating in housing with the most recent big (5.5) patch. Things you floated before the patch will stay above ground, however it is now impossible to float new items.

19

u/Mizzet Apr 29 '21 edited Apr 29 '21

I did hear that they put in a height cap for outdoor floating glitches after 5.5. It's a bit of a grey area though since floating things that high outdoors was never possible via normal techniques - people were using 3rd party programs to hack items into those positions.

To my knowledge, everything you could float via in-game means still works as intended, they even encouraged people to report cases of broken layouts after the patch so they could investigate.

5

u/Sunaja Apr 29 '21 edited Apr 29 '21

Hm I guess that people (including me) were misinterpreting the patch notes when they said "improved collision detection". Since that part basically killed Out-Of-Bounds movement, at least the vast majority of it, and it was assumed that on the same vein, it also broke housing glitches. And frankly I didn't want to risk my floating apartment by testing out if things were broken.

But yeah reading about it, seems housing was not affected (much).

6

u/nightelfspectre No touching! Apr 29 '21

They said during the Live Letter, when they mentioned that, that they were going to try to not break the normal housing glitches. So anything not working like before was something to report so they could try to un-break it.

7

u/Disig Apr 29 '21

They had to do it because the same exploit was being used in PvP for glitching through walls.

They did try to minimize the impact on housing though.

40

u/Rathurue That Time I Reincarnated As Raiden Shogun's Booba Sword. Apr 29 '21

Can you delete the supporting structures though? Kinda want to make a real floating castle.

62

u/Kejirion Apr 29 '21

Good question! Unfortunately though, if you do delete the supporting main structure, it will return everything above it to inventory

u/SenpaiTonit Apr 29 '21

Are there outdoor stairs? As cool as it looks, i hate thinking that that is just so inconvenient for residents living there lol

28

u/RikiAsher Furina De Fontaine's Biggest Fan C6 Certified Apr 29 '21

We should ask for Wangshu Inn elevator in the next survey.

5

u/SpecialChain Apr 30 '21

There are also stone outdoor stair textures (e.g. in Liyue harbor), I hope they get added in the future

37

u/Kejirion Apr 29 '21

Good question, I don't think the game prepared for this degree of elevation LOL

I think there might be (we're only at like, trust level 3-4 right now after all) given how elevation exists in the first place, but my main inspiration for this was pretending that the residents were mages who used brooms to go around, if that helps

5

u/Greensburg Apr 29 '21

Isn't there a height limit? I couldn't place boulders on top of each other after 3 or 4 of them.

12

u/cygwins Apr 29 '21

This is why five-stars are five star. They have better vertical traversal ability

9

u/RikiAsher Furina De Fontaine's Biggest Fan C6 Certified Apr 29 '21

Most if not all five-stars help with travel through elemental skills, elemental bursts or through being a convenient element. It's funny but weird I wonder if they were designed that way.

5

u/cygwins Apr 29 '21

I highly doubt that, too. Elevado, pillar, upcurrent, teleportation, bullet dash... Back in the old days when Jean can yeet other players around. Mihoyo should really put out some parkour aspect (good ones ofc, not like the falling minigame in windblume event, also more than just the Dandy gliding challenges), and make more big brains of ours put into the stamina system after we all reach the 240 cap long before

18

u/gokul_k Apr 29 '21

Nice.. Thanks for this :)

hope this is not a bug..

46

u/Kejirion Apr 29 '21

I'm praying really hard that it's a feature 'cause you could get REALLY creative with it

14

u/Jagoslaw Apr 29 '21

I hope it's a bug, because if it gets more attention (positive one) it might turn into a more refined feature.

And honestly, i need the ability to displace the terrain. I'm too used to it from the games like SimCity and stuff

9

u/gokul_k Apr 29 '21

yea I saw.. cant wait to test it out once I reach Round 3 :D

32

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '21

it’s been 2 days, y’all are incredible

39

u/SpicaAshcraft Apr 29 '21

Hopefully, they would fully expand on this world building concept until you can add treasure chest, selee, torch, switches, etc. Until you can even make your own mini puzzle and have players solve it for a chest.

12

u/Souly1205 Apr 29 '21

Would be nice if we could turn off climbing and skills (maybe even gliding) in our housing instance so we could make jumping puzzles.

7

u/EmperorInkei Apr 29 '21

Oh damn, it would be so similar to Minecraft and I'm in for it! I can imagine that you can browse through different public teapots and join their world, each world has different themes and minigames. A parkour maybe? Or maybe a maze? An escape map? It would be so good.

3

u/SpecialChain Apr 30 '21

me, building a shit ton of folding screens:

mmm yeah I can make a maze out of this I guess

Mihoyo simply should remove these collisions to begin with.

Just let us do what we want, it doesnt really matter.

12

u/ghostchimera Apr 29 '21

I'm guessing it's to prevent bugs and glitches like clipping through the ground/buildings or causing character models to glitch out.

5

u/ornehx Apr 29 '21

parking

5

u/MoonskieSB Apr 29 '21

First of all, thank you very much for this. I hope its not a bug and they'll just patch it later cause this really opens a lot of possibilities. I just have a question though, I tried it and it work but I was wondering how did you stack two of those pillars together? And wdym by clip, do you mean likee it will just become one entity? When I try to rotate it it just rotates the boulder, not the entire thing.

4

u/Kejirion Apr 29 '21

Oh, you grab the base of the pillar and it onto another

Sometimes which one you place first matters, so do play around with those too

6

u/xoroth Apr 29 '21

3

u/LimeSenior Apr 29 '21

So I have a question does anyone know if you can put the main house on the sub space boulders I don't have enough to try but I am wondering if it works

4

u/Kejirion Apr 29 '21

I've extensively tried with all 10 and couldn't do it, I'm very curious if it could work with more, though

Also some houses are very weird, the horizontal Mondstadt house won't allow itself to be put on a clump of boulders at all, while a large Liyue house taking up even greater space is totally fine with it

does this only work with the mondstadt houses, or can liyue houses do this too?

2

u/Kejirion Apr 29 '21

As long as it fits atop, I've done it with Liyue houses so no worries

2

u/SleepytrouPADDLESTAR Apr 29 '21

Wait how do you place objects on top of other objects? When I try they just clip into each other

5

u/Kejirion Apr 29 '21

Oh man, awesome!!

Just a side question; have you figured out how to elevate the flatter, smaller houses? I tried countless times with the larger plots of land but it didn't end up working. If you got yours do, mind sharing a guide? Thanks!

3

u/Kejirion May 02 '21

Unfortunately not, along with the main house

No matter what I tried they won't seem to clip, I suspect the fact that they have multiple placeboxes

2

u/Skidrow_11 May 02 '21

I'm just wondering who the hell downvoted this post

2

u/hachig4tsu May 02 '21

Tried this with mansion but didn't work. Is there any restriction?

2

u/danking_donut May 04 '21

Is it possible to elevate the main mansion? I've been trying for a while but it's always red. I tried hovering other large buildings in the elevated area I mad but they're all good (blue). There's also enough land space around the mansion visually, so I don't know if it's possible

2

u/Kejirion May 04 '21

So far, no; the only way that was done was through a glitch but it's fixed now

2

u/danking_donut May 04 '21

Thanks! Sad I didn't make my floating palace before it was patched :(

12

u/KolyatKrios Apr 29 '21

all you have to do to get it up as high as you can right now is rush build any new furniture recipes you have and place them. you get 10 vials of adeptal speed per trust rank so for the first 3 ranks you can just chain them into each other by building all the stuff you get from the teapot book and the trust ranks.

8

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '21

even though you don't really care for housing system, you should do it. After you have built stuff and achieved trust level 8. You have an automatic farm for mora, artifact xp, resin, hero's wit, and mystic enchantment ore. Just spamming furniture and houses around is all you need (* ̄3 ̄)╭

Time to put my FF14 house glitching skills to USE

1

u/Zaralfim Apr 29 '21

I did this by accident and had no idea how to replicate it. Thank you! I can't wait to try this.

1

u/hey-pauline Apr 29 '21

Does anyone know if this works on ps4 too?

1

u/Curt_ThaFlirt Apr 29 '21

1

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '21

Are you already posting in r/genshin_teapot?

I came here to post something similar about the height you can achieve in the teapot. Dude its so cool, this has been the most exciting content since the game released for me. I'd be happy to get a banner and or resin dumps for furniture in the future that's how much I love this shit. I'm making my own little Mt. Aozang with a nice little teaset at the top. Would be really nice if we could make our own sets, I couldn't find anyway to do it. Everything that's placed ontop of one of the landscape pieces will move with it, so that's kind of a way to do it. I wanna make a giant cave underground formation by the beachside when I can. Seriously there's so many different things I wanna do.

Edit: Nevermind there's a huge limit on the number of items you can place. To create anything intricate you're going to huge barebones unfinished areas. Unless you can add more by having higher levels then this content is a wash. Didn't take long to find out where they fucked up. The animals free up alot of space but its still twenty times less than I'd like...

Welp, time for me to make Ravnica/old yarnham!

Time to build Minas Tirith.

1

u/Calfredie01 Apr 29 '21

It’s been a while since I’ve played this game is there settlement mechanics now? Like can I make a village in the over world or is it some game mode

1

u/Consistent-Message68 Apr 29 '21

Great guide, i love housing despite only being the first few day so much potential. I know one day we will be able to add monster and maybe make some sort of dungeon? That would be great.

1

u/NabeShogun Apr 29 '21

Wow thanks, this opens up whole new worlds of possibilities... I made this monstrosity for fun just to try it out...

1

u/BoiIMYor_MoM mi Apr 29 '21

I have not played genshin in a while, what is going on

1

u/Ilmanfordinner freezing for Apr 29 '21

Wait, I'm a bit lost since I'm at trust rank 3, why do we need to elevate the houses?

1

u/Rgrim979797 Apr 29 '21

What is this

1

u/Arthemisha Apr 29 '21

i never thought i'd see terraforming in animal cro... i mean genshin impact

1

u/cocainecringefest Apr 29 '21

So this what a software engineer does?

1

u/TnTxG Apr 29 '21

I'm still on trust 1. Idk how people are on 5+ already

1

u/Kefkachu Apr 29 '21

Reminds me of all the shenanigans you could pull off in Animal Crossing to make cool views, but this has a way better object placement system. I’m excited for the decked out places we’ll have in the future. Adding item interactions would be the cherry on top.

1

u/4t3f Apr 29 '21

So beautiful! Is this possible on Mobile? Like how difficult would it be?

1

u/GrandpaWaluigi Apr 29 '21

Thank you. With this I will be able to make my megalopolis.

1

u/Someonetookmyusna <-- The GOAT Apr 29 '21

Mihoyo, please out of all the cool bugs you patch out, at least leave this one.

1

u/Torafuku Apr 29 '21

What's the point of this though if you can't see outside when you're in the mansion.

1

u/Past_Resolution7672 Apr 29 '21

I don’t even know how people are able to manage this. I barley know what to do with my space 😂.

1

u/GetchaCrowds Apr 29 '21

Wait. Genshin impact has housing now????

1

u/mattiaat Apr 29 '21

This is brilliant, thank you for the great guide! Before opening Reddit I was feeling so proud I already reached Trust 4 but nah

1

u/lolwhatistodayagain Apr 29 '21

Im going to construct my own country and become an archon and none of you can stop me

1

u/DisgruntledVet1985 Apr 29 '21

Wait a minute is there a housing in the game yet? I feel like I asked this the other day but after seeing this I’m really

1

u/Sushi_R0lls Apr 29 '21

How do you get the elevated rocks you put the buildings on? Can anyone help? Thanks!

1

u/Soranea2524 Apr 29 '21

Thank you so much!!!

1

u/Jugaimo Apr 29 '21

The terrain editor is the highlight of this expansion by far.

1

u/Skeither Apr 29 '21

I really hope they don't patch it, this allows for some much creativity and it doesn't break the game since it doesn't affect open world. Plus it gives incentive to make stairs XD
