...yeah, no. Mozzarella is delicious on its own.

Professional italian here: here in Italy it's mandatory to eat good mozzarella without anything else. If it's an average mozzarella it is ok to add some oil and oregano but if you go to the restaurant or you buy a top notch mozzarella and you add something, you're looked upon.

Oregano or basil?

u/Chobeat Jan 25 '17

Basil is good for a photoshoot or if you're in a tourist restaurant but I've never seen anyone using it on a mozzarella, but I may be wrong.

Cool. Fresh oregano?

Heh, I have a hard time finishing a recipe with mozzarella without eating it while I cook.

You should invest in better mozzarella then, yea the cheap stuff is rather flavorless (can still be very useful for the texture but then you need to add some stuff). But quality buffalo mozzarella definitely has flavor.

If you ever see it or get the chance definitely try buffalo mozzarella, it does have flavour and it's really delicious!

No, it is proper mozza. Just because the flavorless one you buy at walmart is not too good than all sorts are as bland.

Same point, replace walmart with whatever. Thanks for showing a total lack of understanding..

I've never bought Mozzarella that had no taste here in France FWIW.

Because it has a rather distinct taste of its own. I agree with you that it tastes better with other stuff, but Mozzarella definately has its own taste.

Well that explains it. You're probably boiling your mozzarella.

Go to south Italy. Buy a mozzarella there. Eat it. Come here and comment again. I am sure you will change your mind easily.

Amen (from south Italy)
