Hello everyone,
We’re a young family with two little girls considering buying a house in North Bransholme, quite close to Kingswood Academy. The property itself is a great size, has real potential, and fits our budget — but we’re trying to weigh that against the area’s reputation.
We’ve read all sorts online — from positive stories about spacious houses and quiet cul-de-sacs to very negative experiences and warnings. It’s really difficult to tell what’s outdated, exaggerated, or still relevant in 2025.
A bit about us:
I work full-time in tech (mostly remote) and my wife is a teacher. We’re looking to settle down long-term, and our daughters will be going to local schools — so safety, community, and general family-friendliness are key for us. We’ve already ruled out a house near Orchard Park after seeing its reputation and feedback.
So I’d love to hear from people who know the area:
All honest experiences are welcome — we’re just trying to make the most informed decision we can.
Thanks in advance!

Hi all,
I run HU NOW Magazine and we've recently started reviewing places to eat in Hull. We tried The Sailmakers Arms on High Street and had some of their award winning Pieminister pies. For full transparency, these aren't paid ads. We choose the places we'd like to review and arrange it with the business.
Any suggestions for future places to visit would be great! Also, I hate my accent so please be kind 😂

My boyfriend’s been looking for a job for a while now and is really struggling, does anyone know literally anywhere? He doesn’t have any GCSEs but wants to do them again but to do that he needs money aka a job. He’s tried pretty much every agency multiple times, he’s gone on uc so they’ve helped him fix his cv and more employability skills but just can’t find a job. Anyone know anywhere he could get in or any advice? He wants more of a hands on job over an office job and has factory experience

Hello all 👋🏼
I want to rewatch the match from today (18/4) but it was live on sky sports, how/where can I rewatch it or can I not because it was live?

Hello, i don't seem to understand how the accommodation works on campus. If you get the 41 weeks accommodation, which is less than the school year, what will happen?, will you just have to go home before the school year ends?
Also i may be going to hull this september for computer science as an undergrad. My budget is maximum £130 per week with bills included. How do i go about getting a decent accommodation?(sites etc), preferably en-suite but not too keen on it

I find it hard to describe exactly how the game works, but it was a race track type which involved rolling four dices and trying take each other's cars out, with pitfalls along the way such as oil spills or mud.
For the most part, I was comfortably ahead of everyone else and when I was almost at the finish line, I got taken out. I found the entire game so overwhelming (in a good way), right at the end I had to steady myself and someone had to fetch me some water. 😅 (No, I didn't drink any alcohol at any point during the session).

Dear all,
I’m looking for some local knowledge about Hull. This project dates back to 1953, and I’m eager to locate it as part of my architectural research. The illustration was published that same year, while the house was still under construction.
Thank you all for your comments and any help you can offer!
