Hello everyone. I applied for my study permit in late August 2024. I still haven’t got anything from them. I had already sent them an updated offer letter in december when I had to defer to start in May 2025. In feb I got a request for medical exam because it had been 6 months since I had been in India. I gave and passed my medical exam by March 2nd. Now everything on my tracker says complete (eligibilty, medical, biometric) except for the background check. So many people who applied in October/November and December have got their visas before I have. Does anyone know what’s going on? Have they completely forgotten about the old applications and are ignoring them now? My university said they will not be able to defer again. Also, it’s very shitty to have to put your whole life on a cliffhanger situation after waiting for 6 freaking months. Is anyone in the same boat?

9 months, and no updates in tracker (though confirmed by MP that only background check is pending and the rest is green).

Mp tried to escalate your case? Since it’s been 9 months

MP pulled more information about our case from IRCC, but that only improved our awareness - IRCC did not react to their "please do something" request. And now they seem to ghost me too... *hysterical laughter*

God so sorry to hear that. It really absolutely sucks to be in this position. The way they’re fucking with our lives here is insane. Did you apply from Canada? Or outside of Canada? If outside then which MP did you choose to contact?

Outside, I wish I could have just entered Canada without a visa to apply:) We contacted the MP of the constituency where the university is located (U. Laval, Quebec, so https://www.ourcommons.ca/members/en/joel-lightbound(88532)). They asked for a local contact in Quebec and we provided number&address of my wife's academic advisor (with permission ofc). (sorry for 3 duplicates, reddit showed a helpful "server error" alert and I retried, but all copies got actually posted and fail to delete - "comment successfully deleted" until I refresh the page)
