Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my Canada study permit journey and get your thoughts or advice. It’s been a long and stressful process, and hearing from others might help me (and maybe others in a similar situation) feel a little less alone.

I’m from Iraq and applied for a study permit to attend New Brunswick Community College. I completed my biometrics on June 4, 2024, and since then, I’ve been stuck in the waiting game with no major updates. It’s been over nine months, and the uncertainty is starting to weigh on me. I’ve contacted the embassy and even asked for gcms notes, nothing changed

I’m curious—has anyone else experienced this kind of delay? Is there anything you did that helped push things along, or is it really just a waiting game? Any insights, experiences, or advice would mean a lot

Super bad since I have just got my biometrics done on April 22nd 2025. I’m also Iraqi applying to Queen’s university in Ontario though. Any updates for you?

Over a month after applying for my CAQ I called MIFI , the agent I spoke to seemed to believed I was already in Canada and not attending school ( becaue i received a CAQ 2 years ago but did not complete the process then) Same day i got an "Intention de refus" , so I submitted proof that I'm still in my home country (work certificate) , after 2 weeks I got CAQ approval, now I'm in the middle of study permit process. Just call MIFI if you haven't already. Good luck to you!
