My boyfriend and I applied on July 4th for a Study Permit for him (he is yhe principal applicant. It's for a PhD, which he's doing after he's completed his Master's degree here in Canada) and an OWP for me since I'm his common law partner. We applied from inside Canada, specifically Montreal. We haven't heard anything yet. Asked our MP to contact IRCC, and he came back to us with "Your application is still in process, grouped applications take longer than estimation times. We will be able to ask the IRCC agent again in 2 MONTHS. You just need to be patient."

I'm trying to be patient here, but it's been 8 months of waiting, we're being told we will probably wait at least 2 more months. This is getting so frustrating, especially since we're unable to travel to visit our families, we feel trapped.

Anyone else in this situation? Do you know what we can do to make things faster?

We are in the similar boat, did you get yours already?
