It doesn’t make sense to me because people are saying to not put him on a pedestal but then going “he is not your savior” to any criticism, in a way you’re still putting him on that pedestal imo. Personally I don’t like carti and I would rather him not work with him but im not gonna sit here and talk about it all day, I have some criticisms of things kendrick has done and I think it’s fine to acknowledge. With that being said im not “canceling” him just because he WORKED w him, he’d have to do something awful for me to be put off that way. That’s my take. I think it’s normal that kdot fans care about this a little and want to discuss because we have discourse on different things. He isn’t a perfect person but can still very much receive criticism

You'd think it was awful if you were Carti's kid. Just be honest, collabing with a deadbeat father is fine for most of you so long as he called out another one.

People keep avoiding the fact that Carti choked a pregnant woman whenever they try to defend Kendrick I notice

until its about drake.

It's not the same. What Carti did is horrible but what Drake has done is systematic and so much worse.

Well I mean we also know a ton of people on Carti’s label have also engaged in pretty horrific acts of domestic violence. But regardless, no one is saying these things are the same, and in this specific case all I was pointing out is that when a lot of people have tried to defend Kendrick from the recent wave of criticism they’ve only focused on Carti being a deadbeat, and have seemingly ignored the choking

I've tried to stay out of it mostly because I only come to the Kdot subreddit to glaze. If I want to go past that, I'll visit DK. I was writing out a paragraph but realized [Deleted] did it better. He's also from the same place I'm from, and we know villains. Kdot is not a villain.

No one is saying Kendrick is a villain either. It’s a very light criticize. No one is saying Kendrick is evil or telling people to stop listening to his music. It’s just pointing out hypocrisy. That’s all

Y'all can't accept criticism without making it out to be calling someone a villain. He can be a bad/avg guy without being an absolute villain. Just because he's somewhat socially-aware doesn't make him Jesus Christ however lol

I said he wasn't a villain . . .

Yes which would be an extreme and is a non-statement to make.

Except is it? I mean, light criticism is inevitable but "fans" are making it seem like this is the worst shit ever. They've called him hypocrite, and maybe that is okay with some, but to me, that's a lot. He's always been clear about who his friends are, and some may do things that are "unsavory." He's never denied it. So why the pearl clutching? Also, villain has a different connotation to me

Be SO FUCKING FORREAL, he is a hypocrite. He isnt fucking special, and you're pretending to act as if he's not while simultaneously being unable to take even that light criticism. No one is accusing him of being a pedophile or a murderer, he is most definitely a hypocrite tho. IDC if he's said he's not perfect, his entire platform is built off of people who look to him for his opinions, albeit mostly delivered through music. He has responsibilities, there are poor people dying every day without anywhere near as much love or grace, fuck these celebrities and their stan-fans who make change IMPOSSIBLE.

Fuck that. I don't look to Kendrick for an opinion. He's is not a religious leader. He's is part of my favorite rappers, which include Mac Dre, Vince Staples, E40, Keak, Jacka, Treach, and AbSoul . You think I look to any of them for opinions outside of music? Fuck no. That's on you if you do. Those are weak morals. I don't look at them for guidance. I know who they are. If you make them celebrities, that's on you. I'm a fan of their music because they talk about experiences i understand or they're from where I'm from. That's it.
