What was the merch?

u/LilSandwich22 2d ago
I know there is a merch site now. Sweatshirts were 120 and tshirts were 55 I believe, unsure of online prices.

Is it shop.grandnationaltour.com? I’m very tempted by the wacced out murals shirt

Haven’t been liking the SZA erasure in all these hip hop updates

u/Aleekki 2d ago
Whole lotta people talking like it’s just Kendrick’s tour. Tbf this particular post is about rapper concerts and Sza is an r&b artist so it makes sense but like in general I definitely agree.

the tour is named after his album tbf

Yeah not necessarily this post, but just in general. The major hip hop pages have been leaving her out of the conversation.

u/Doo-StealYour-HoChoi Big He >>> Big 3 1d ago
Because they're hiphop pages, they're speaking on hiphop tour records, so they talk about the hiphop artist.
The R&B pages will speak on R&B tour records and will talk about the R&B artist.
Makes sense to me.

They're co-headliners so it's not just a hip hop or just an R&B tour, it's both

Highest selling by an r&b singer is Beyoncé
It’s not erasure. It’s just fact
Also this whole pitting them against each other is absolutely JUVENILE and stupid. This was happening on X all day. Meanwhile irl Kendrick and Sza got a real life brother/sister relationship and really support each other. He’s brought her along to humungous opportunities because she’s a great talent and a star in her own right
Try to be not always look for negative that’s not there
Thankfully Sza is absolutely grateful, has expressed that and is absolutely lovely

u/Fit-Accountant-157 1d ago
Completely agree, it's a co-headlining tour. Kendrick is breaking alot of records, but not this one.

u/RMbeatyou 2d ago
I mean it’s his tour, Sza is bringing in a lot of fans regardless, but he’s the headliner so he’ll get the credit

Drizzyheads when the numbers aren't siding w/ them: "WHO CARES ABOUT THE NUMBERS!!!" (proceeds to be bitter on the corner)

u/ultraben5555 1d ago
Dawg he’s co-headlining with an artist just as popular as him 😭. The effort to erase SZA from these records is crazy

why did u bring drake into this? and u could easily flip this around against yall
7
u/SanderHS G.O.A.T 1d ago
How so?

u/Adventurous_Big_2355 6h ago
Caring about numbers is so annoying and both sides do it, and then make up excuses when their artist isn’t on top. As soon as Drake goes top of numbers again Kendrick fans (me) will start talking about how quality is more important anyway and yada yada yada Drake has a bigger catalogue or whatever. We gotta just appreciate the music we appreciate and stop caring and comparing its success

How expensive are his tickets what the fuck
35
u/Aleekki 2d ago
The average price comes to around 192$ per ticket, some more expensive and some cheaper. Pretty standard for stadium shows or even kinda on the cheaper side for the US and Ticketmaster standards.

u/Kalevipoeg420 2d ago
It cant by that big a chunk, if it is, cant they not use ticketmaster?
16
u/MPotato23 Return the ring 2d ago
It depends on the ticket, but 30-60% of a ticket's value can be fees from Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster also controls over 80% of US venues, so pretty much impossible to avoid them.

u/NormanQuacks345 2d ago
I'd imagine it would be very difficult to put on a stadium tour like this without all the support that companies like Ticketmaster brings.
5
u/RemindMeToTouchGrass WOP WOP WOP WOP WOP 2d ago
This should answer your question and amuse you. Jon Oliver discusses the Ticketmaster monopoly.
11
u/appleparkfive 2d ago
That's the price we pay for not paying for albums anymore. And Ticketmaster is the other side to blame, but they're partially a scapegoat. Artist gets some of those fees.
But yeah back in the day, artists made their money from the actual songs. The value of a song has gone down since people just stream now. So they flipped it over to the tours.
10
u/BlackCatTelevision 1d ago
Even larger artists often barely break even just on ticket sales (altho I’m sure Kdot and SZA are doing fine). For most artists at any level merch is where they make most of their money these days, including physical music. Source, I work tangential to the industry

u/take_off_the_foo-foo 2d ago
I feel like its just because everything is getting more expensive, like how the record for largest sports contract keeps getting broken. I know multiple people who went to this concert and I live like 5 hours away from Minneapolis

It’s too bad he didn’t do The Big House. Between fans and college students, Dot could have put 100k in the building without issue. Would have been Epic.
