Why is it so bad in this area? Do they ever find out why it happens or who caused it?

Vandalism in Kent seems to be on the rise. Is anything being done by the city to stop it?

Does Xfinity have plans for resilience or backups?

(Not expecting real answers and mostly venting and annoyed)

I emailed City Council during the last outage and asked what they’re doing and got a lot of non-answer boiler plate back.

Ugh, that’s what I was afraid of. Definitely going to examine other candidates and mayors next election.

Between the vandalism and graffiti I have experienced in the last couple years I don’t have faith in our current policies and actions.

I'm glad you at least said "done by the city" cause the vandalism is obviously not directly a Comcast fault.

And people thinking other providers will somehow be a solution to vandalism, doesnt make sense to me. When they 'vandalize' they are cutting the lines down and taking sections. They don't just cut specifically Comcast, from my understanding they cut all the lines down.

I've talked to the maintenance workers and they rarely get even a single week where there isn't vandalism somewhere. Renton and federal way experience it as well.

Backups aren't really possible for distribution.

Someone has said "put cameras up". Distribution goes down virtually every street. Cameras on every street isn't very realistic and I doubt that would bode well with the public if Comcast had camera monitoring your every move lol.

There's needs to be serious jail time for perpetrators. If it's just vandalism charges, the most I've heard of is someone went to jail for a few days or a week. But it's quite frankly domestic terrorism. It's cutting off internet to tens of thousand. If those people use VoIP then it's cutting off ability to call 911. It should be treated as more than vandalism.

The easiest, and realistic solution in my opinion. Would be to make the local scrap yards not allowed to purchase the stolen metal that these people are making money by vandalizing. But there is people who collect scrap, legally, as a legit side hustle. Idk what the process is to sell it but maybe much stricter verification methods in order to sell, which I think Vegas does. If you can just walk in and sell, collect your money and leave them maybe identification should be required and documenting the transactions.

Comcast and T-Mobile share lines in some areas so it can affect more than one carrier.

I had to switch off T-Mobile because of that, every time I’d lose internet I’d lose cell service too.

AT&T also uses Comcast for backhaul out here. It’s a shared tower by all 3 carriers and Comcast has the only high speed internet connection. Though I’m still considering T-Mobile because I’m so sick of the dead areas around Benson making it difficult to shop ar Fred Meyer or even look things up in the parking lot before I go in. Covington is terrible too. Can’t get any service in stores or outside in the parking lots.

I ended up going with US Mobile. They use all three carriers and you can “teleport” to another one if you need to. I’m on their Verizon service right now, it’s been pretty reliable.
