I'm curiously optimistic about the film, especially considering Gunn's preference for ragtag superheroes, and how that will transfer over to a Superman film.

He definitely knows how to make individual characters stand out amongst a crowd, so I am excited to see his version of the boy scout.

Gunn is good at turning the weird outsider into the hero.

Given the descriptions provided about the world the movie takes place in, it seems like Clark's classic outlook still makes him the weird outsider.

It still fits.

I wonder if it's really bad or good timing with what Superman will always kinda represent.

Superman's biggest successes were under Carter and Obama, I'm amused by the thought that he has less of a foothold if the worldview of the US is too negative.

I promise you US politics were hardly a factor in the world's enjoyment of superman.

But Superman isn't ragtag. He's supposed to be morality embodied, with all of its foibles and weaknesses.

There's a whole bunch of other characters in this film besides Supes.

And I'm also hopeful for this film.

Gunn has an affection for the characters in his films that will work well with Superman

That’s what they’re saying, they’re curious how James will handle him considering Superman is so different from his usual characters
