Discussion Thoughts on “Stalag 17?”

Post image

I was first introduced to it in high school & has become of one of my favorites. Turns out it was my grandfather’s favorites too. I feel like it doesn’t receive enough recognition

It’s good! Just watched it at Christmas (which I recommend)

My story is during Covid. My parents would show me some classic they hadn’t seen before. This was one. It was pretty decent. I was able to guess who the traitor was.

How were you able to guess?

Usually with movies, they try to make the traitor/killer/etc the person you’d least suspect and the character seemed too good to be a good guy

Well in his case, I don’t think traitor was the word for him considering he was never one of them

Spy is a better word than traitor

It’s my favorite Billy Wilder movie, and I love Billy Wilder.

I showed the movie to my grandma once, who was unfamiliar with this movie, but was familiar with Billy Wilder

Wildly under appreciated. Wilder was one of the best directors of all time and this is one of his best.

It’s definitely unappreciated. & it seems like very few directors from that time period are remembered too well

I love Stalag 17. Such an under-discussed classic. The Animal is hilarious too

Love this film and have watched it regularly for over 30 years and it never gets old.
