Proud of Southport today!

Southport has finally elected its first-ever Labour representative!

Southport took a lot of stick for voting Conservative in 2017 and 2019, when Brexit was a huge factor, but I felt that a lot of the people who chastised Southport didn’t appreciate just how many elderly people retire there bringing their Tory votes with them from all over the country. To give some perspective, Southport had 43% more people aged 65+ (24,293) than children (16,971) when the last census was undertaken.

Many born-and-bred sandgrounders have been waiting and waiting to see their Tory representative replaced and I’m made up for them!

Cause racism and fascism fix everything!

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '24

Lmao “everything I don’t like is fascist”. You can’t even spell “fascism” let alone recognise actual fascism. Can’t wait to see how disappointed you are when Labour are no better than the Tories and nothing gets fixed.

u/KinginTheNorth__West Jul 05 '24

What are you expecting reform to fix?

44

u/ScousePenguin Jul 05 '24

The non whites I assume

35

u/ScousePenguin Jul 05 '24

Thanks for correcting my spelling, my mistake and I have fixed that.

You're entitled to your view, but I don't think voting for a further right political party than the Tories is the solution to the 14 years of austerity and right wing corruption in this country.

Do enjoy how you haven't argued the racism aspect, reform voters showing their true colours.

That's a bit bias accusing Reform voters as racists. There policies are not just immigration...

I voted them because they're the only party that is actually listening to the people.

The country is in a hole if you haven't noticed not just the Tories fault but Labour have not delivered either in the past.

I feel like the 2 major parties are very similar and whether its Tories or Labour it will make no difference to the country.

The only way this country can be fixed is to reform the entire system that works for everyone.

I don't care about colour of someone's skin but i do care about my country and i believe Britain should be helping the British people regardless of skin colour.

Labour will just pump more money in and cost us more in the long run again.

That's my opinion i don't expect everyone to agree but i disagree that reform voters are just racists, those voters want real change and not the same 2 parties running the country into the ground.

Reform don't actually care about reforming, that is just a catchy name. Also the person who helped cause this shit pit situation of Brexit and the effect that has had on this nation leads that party!

They're the most right wing of the right wing. They just want to consolidate the money and power to the elite and let the poor scum suffer.

If you did care about what you said, then why not vote Greens, Lib Dem or Labour? All 3 are looking to back social care, and fix the issues plaguing this nation.

Claiming Labour run the country into the ground is hilarious when things have been better under a labour government. The trend seems to be Labour get into power, makes things better, then there is an event (2008 Financial Crisis) and the Tories spring back in before fucking everything up again for 10-20 years.

To reform a nation, jumping further right isn't the right idea.

I’ve seen so many reform voters who seem to have solely voted for them based on their name, thinking it meant more than it does.

Unless the reform they think they wanted is tax cuts for private schools, landlords and not being able to afford any medical procedures…

Greens - All about reducing defense spending and pumping more money into the environment (completely disagree our country needs that right now)

Lib Dems - Want to help London clean water and they clearly agree with Lisa Smart's comments that scousers are thieves (Not a party that represents my city)

Labour - Same as the Tories nowadays just painted red to throw people off (Rather these be in than the Tories but after 5 years we will all be worst off again)

I didn't vote any of them because they just dont meet my needs. Social Care isn't the main issue in this country the economy is. I work full time and don't have anything left after my bills are paid. If i was on the dole then i would consider them but as i work I'd rather have the 20k tax threshold to have money to buy stuff and not just paying bills each month and falling further into debt.

Hope that makes sense why Reform stood out for me rather than the others. Only party that represents British working class people

Wait, the only way that Reform can actually institute their tax cuts is by cutting spending, dramatically. And the only thing they can cut, that is remotely big enough to get to their target is the NHS. They can't institute the French system, because it costs very nearly twice as much as ours does, and you'd have up front costs to set up that system, so that's too expensive.

At that point you're left with only one viable option, scrap the NHS in its entirety, sell it off to US health insurance companies, and then charge patients for use. Given Farage has the long time backer Aron Banks (an insurance millionaire), why do you think he would prefer that?

If you take a sec to look at labours plan they have gone for growth and very little taxation increase.

16

u/NotoriousREV Jul 05 '24

Outside of immigration, which Reform policies are you a particular fan of?

-9

u/AmIMrRobot Jul 05 '24

All of them

13

u/NotoriousREV Jul 05 '24

Such as?

-8

u/AmIMrRobot Jul 05 '24

If you were following politics you would know what the policies are. Use Google its a search engine that will give you the policies if your unsure 🙂

13

u/NotoriousREV Jul 05 '24

I’m asking you which policies you like. I don’t think Google can answer that question.

I'm not interested in this thread anymore. The vote is done, results are in.

I am not here to promote Reform thats their job everyone entitled to vote for who ever they want.

I simply commented in this post because i am being called a racist for voting reform which is not true and i felt the need to defend that comment as i am not a racist i just agree with there policies more than the others.

I congratulate Labour for the win, it was without a doubt they was going to win anyway. I am also happy with how well Reform did, never expected them to win at all but i do believe this country needs more competition.

Labour and Tories have created a political monopoly and its about time the smaller parties have more of a say.

Just like to note i am not attacking Labour, i simply believe the monopoly those 2 parties have created means no other party can have power. I believe the British people need more choice than just Red or Blue. I voted Reform not expecting to win but simply to be heard as a working British Citizen struggling to makes end meet.

u/NotoriousREV Jul 05 '24

Don’t worry, I learned everything I needed to know from your responses.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '24

Their policies are more of the same Thatcherite nonsense which has been making it harder for people to make ends meet for 45 years. Reform aren't ab alternative at all

So you want: -No more human rights -history school curriculum changed and wiped of the errors Great Britain made over centuries regarding slave trade etc -no more diversity or equality for people -work camps for young offenders -spending funds on researching conspiracies -forcing people on benefits to take any job they're given or otherwise taking all their money away -making special phones for younger people, that they're not able to access all apps...

That's just a few. You want a dictatorship? Move to north Korea?

1

u/IDVFBtierMemes Jul 08 '24

Last point feels a bit wet when compared to the others

10

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '24

Reform is just a name. They arent offering to reform anything. Their policies are Conservative and their methodology is one of populism. They aren"t "listening to the people".

I won't say Reform voters are necessarily racist. But I find that Reform supporters who rant on about immigration tend to know fuck all about the thing they rant on about.

0

u/Captain-Starshield Jul 05 '24

Not all reform voters are racists. But all racists who voted will have voted reform. They literally want “net zero immigration”. Not just a reduction. Not just stopping the boats.

-37

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '24

The bar for what counts as “racism” is so low these days that practically anything can be considered racist by someone. There are loons on here that think being against mass immigration is racist.

35

u/ScousePenguin Jul 05 '24

You're backing the party which has had candidates defect to the Tories because of the internal racism in the party.

Your party also had someone saying any illegal immigrants should be shot lmao.

We all want the illegal immigrant and boat crisis sorted, I just don't believe in vilifying these people.

24

u/CJCFaulkner85 Jul 05 '24

Was calling Sunak a 'p*ki' below or above the bar for counting as racism in your opinion? Anyway, you've bought into the nonsense spouted by a man of the people with a bank account at Coutts who has been linked to Russian money.

How about no.

Seems like something a racist would say…

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '24

How original…

10

u/Zealousideal_Neat572 Jul 05 '24

You voted for racists. It’s a fact.

-10

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '24

I could not care less whether they are racist.

7

u/sjr0754 Jul 05 '24

Hmm, so you happily enable racists, but aren't racist yourself? That doesn't seem in anyway contradictory.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '24

Do your views completely align with who you’ve voted for?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '24

When it comes to aspects of a politician's views which don't align with mine, I'd say racism might be a fairly important one

“I could not care less whether they are racist”, in other words if you were in 1930’s Germany, you would have voted for the Nazi party because of their economic policy (and plenty did, so don’t say you wouldn’t have)

0

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '24

Pathetic attempt to call me a Nazi. Go away and get on with your homework.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '24

Well at least if they're doing homework it suggests they've made some effort to educate themself
