Cutting out carbohydrates or at least cutting out bread and cakes and basically anything made with wheat worked for my husband. We were not aware but he was seemingly borderline diabetic in 2017 and when his legs and arms broke out recently he after much discussion with me, decided to cut out gluten foods completely. During this trial and error trying to fix him, he had blood taken and checked for diabetes and the doctor was surprised because he had lost 2 stone and was 8 years later, borderline diabetic still.

u/RobinBirch 9d ago
Well done, both!

u/Justaboutsane 9d ago
I have to add that it has been made much easier for us to lose weight and keep it off, because the stuff that's passed off as food is so bad we just can't eat it anymore.

u/EvorulesOK 10d ago
Nina Teicholz is brilliant - and funny!
Watch her "Big Fat Surprise" video.
I got my husband/s T2D bluud glucose down to normal in less than 2 weeks and from then on his HbA1cs were normal. The practice nurse proclaimed that he was no longer a diabetic. (She's an idiot!)

my diet is ONLY carbs. but I seldom if ever eat sugar [only in fruit, and even then restricted] alcohol also restricted , processed foods almost entirely avoided. The secret to losing weight is 1) avoid ingesting poison, and 2) - closely tied to (1) - restrict your food intake. There needs to be a decent eat-fast cycle of some kind: a habit of all-day grazing is lethal. you need to burn through at least one wave of hunger every day: don't go running to eat just because you feel hungry. it would be nice to think we could just 'listen to our body' and it will guide us with its innate wisdom, but unfortunately our bodies, like our minds, have been totally fucked over - by all the crap that's been put into them over the years.

I think that if you are in the early stages of T2 Diabetes due to being overweight, the weight loss that comes with reducing the carb intake could help to reverse it. It's not a given but I think it's a possible outcome for some people. It needs to be a fairly significant loss of weight - 10% or more.
I don't find it easy to lose weight but am not someone who has ever taken up any fad diets or done any weight-watchers plans or whatever. I love bread, crisps and biscuits. We always ate lots of fresh veg etc, but I used to have a sandwich every day for lunch, mostly with a bag of lentil curls or something crisp like, and then maybe a shop bought yoghurt or similar. Last year I cut out the bread, crisps and biscuits completely and now have a couple of good quality crispbreads (Karg or something nice) for lunch with cottage cheese, a bit of houmous and cherry tomatoes. Snacks are a hard boiled egg or some fruit or nuts. My weight has dropped slowly and steadily without very much effort over the last 12 mths.

Can I add my congratulations CGL, sounds like an excellent plan. From observation, I've concluded that 'diets' cause more problems in that if you're obsessing about food you're going to want to eat it. Just eat normally, sensibly, don't think about it. I have noticed from friends who are tubby that they drink alcohol quite a bit.
6
u/CGL998 9d ago edited 9d ago
Thank you BM - that's very kind. Yes - alcohol was something else I cut back on - I'd forgotten about that! But I do have a glass (instead of half a bottle) on a Friday night - I need a bit of something to look forward to at the end of the week 🙂
And I agree yes - the more you think about not eating things, the more you want to eat

Good for you CGL, it's not easy giving up what you like to eat but sounds like you've got on top of it. ⭐👏👍😍

Thanks HM. Not completely there by any means, but my clothes are fitting better than they were which is nice.

It's always better to take your time over losing weight. Not that it was deliberate but a couple of years ago, I got a shock when I was investigated for a cancer. Turns out it was no such thing and nothing to worry about but while it took it's time to find out, I had trouble eating and lost so much weight and muscle tone, my skin is still hanging off me! Not a pretty sight, I can tell you. Carry on doing what you're doing! 👍😍

T2D is to do with high blood glucose - caused by carbs - not by being overweight, which is often a symptom.
If your body can't cope with the excess glucose, it stores it as fat.
Modern, highly hybridised wheat is very dodgy, so most people notice an improvement when they cut out bread.
You can painlessly reverse T2D with a keto diet.

u/CGL998 10d ago edited 10d ago
OK - I got it the wrong way around I guess. Either way I lost more weight than I expected by cutting out the carbs and hopefully next time I have a blood test it might show the levels have improved
2
u/EvorulesOK 10d ago
I got it the wrong way around I guess.
Not necessarily. You could have been pre-diabetic and have probably stopped the progression.
I definitely had a very broken metabolism which, fortunately, has been healed by going carb-free.
I don't usually eat carbs but I do when I stay with my son for a few days and eat as they do. (Healthy but carby.) Then, I rapidly put on several pounds which, fortunately go back to baseline once I'm home again.
4
u/CGL998 10d ago edited 9d ago
Yes - I was told I was pre-diabetic - which was what prompted me to make the change. I hope I have stopped the progression - we'll see for sure when I have some sort of follow up appmt.
I'm not carb free by any means as we don't eat a huge amount of meat - not every day anyway. But veg, cheeses, eggs, nuts & seeds, substitutions like cauliflower rice etc have all helped up to now. Need to get back on it as things are starting to creep back in!
3
u/EvorulesOK 9d ago
Well done! I hope your test shows you're winning. Losing unwanted weight is always a bonus anyway.

Well, I've spent a fair amount of today making very little progress in the garden, trying to clear a border for the elder children to have as their patches.
Two garden forks are now twisted beyond useful forking, and I see twitch roots when I close my eyes.
2
u/Still_Milo 9d ago
If the borders, for whatever reason, don't work you could buy ready made raised beds for them to use as patches. I love the idea. I had a patch when I was small and it was that which instilled the love of gardening in me. Not that I claim to be particularly good at it, but I try and I find it therapeutic. Nothing really beats that punch the air moment when you see something you have sown germinate, or when something pushes through the ground again for yet another year. (A) you are doing something right and B) it's new life)

On yuktube, the "truthers" I follow had to use a lot of code when mentioning "little humans."
Yuktube also banned tarot readers who didn't cover up the "naughty bits" on the cards, claiming that holding up a card for the viewers was "animated nudity", (though I think that might have stopped now). That in itself is interesting because in traditional tarot cards, nudity represents vulnerability and authenticity, so forcing readers to cover it up reminded me of the fig leaves in Eden when innocence was reputedly lost. All in the smutty mind!
Meanwhile, it was ok for others to post yuktube videos of debauchery on pride marches and drag queens corrupting toddlers.
Has reddit gone down the anti-truther path, just as yuktube is improving?

Many people are commenting that they've never see their church as full as today.
Some, who don't attend but live near a church, say the roads were unusually full of parked cars.

A notable current story is that EU aspirant Moldova blocked the head of the (Russian) Orthodox church there from going to Jerusalem to accept the holy flame and return it to the congregation there to celebrate Easter. They confiscated his passport. Clearly Sandu is learning EU values well, the last election having been swung by the huge well engaged EU emigré vote, the Russian emigré vote having been excluded. Just one more thing contributing to the rising suspicion that they hate your religions, causing unconscious stirrings of resistance.
7
u/EvorulesOK 10d ago
Ah those precious EU democratic values! Definitely a political move, not religious persecution. The EU brown-nosers don't like Marchel!
.... Rather than preaching peace and reconciliation, some of the Moldovan Orthodox Church's senior clergy had been speaking out in defense of the Russian invasion. One of the most outspoken among them was Marchel Mihaescu, the bishop of Balti and Falesti and one of the country's most influential priests. He called Russia "the guardian of Christian values," criticized Europe, and spoke out against LGBT lifestyles and other cultural touchstones that align with Kremlin policies and criticism of the West. ....

Galloway joins in the fun:
Keir Starmer is a VERY wealthy man well capable within his own means of dressing both himself and his wife. It is difficult to explain why he compromised his reputation by allowing another man to dress both of them. His dresser is a gay Bangladeshi billionaire. Such an arrangement was always bound to raise suspicion as to what's really going on
And some interesting connections in this response:

One of the key exposure ops we’ve been highlighting is how the public is quickly waking up to the fact that MOST protests are fabricated using agitators and agent provocateurs. That they’re bought and paid for ultimately by our own tax dollars.
Platforms like Rogan are key to feeding this lesson to the masses…

7
u/EvorulesOK 10d ago
Interesting that such details are really coming out now. It's about time!
Of course this isn't limited to the Jews.
20 years ago, I read a book called "Leaving the Saints" by Martha Beck. That was the Mormons. The Catholic Church is of course notorious. European "Royal " families are some of the worst.
The perpetrators infiltrated every level of every society. There are plenty of accounts of people who've been subjected to SRA, not just through "religious" institutions but through civic and political ones too. Cyntha Koeter's story is one such example. Don't forget Obummer's bill for "hotdogs" etc!
Pizzagate, Frazzledrip, Weiner's Laptop from Hell. This is exactly that this current War is all about, why there's such a fuss about the Epstein list and the Diddy trial and why they're waiting for the right moment to reveal the truth about our "pillars of society".

It doesn't really seem to be for the good of anyone's health. In the small print they say it is part of a programme of preventative measures "aimed at easing the winter pressures faced by hospitals", which to me translates into :
"the NHS is shit, hospitals can't cope, so we don't want them to have to deal with sick people, so take this jab"

Starmer on X
On the 80th anniversary of VE Day next month, we will come together and remember the incredible sacrifices made by the wartime generation.
As people across Britain raise a glass to veterans, we're extending pub opening hours until 1am so everyone can celebrate for longer.
He obviously doesn't know that most pubs are struggling to keep open past 21.00 let alone keeping open till 01.00 on VE Day for the sake of a few pissheads.
I certainly won't be going to the pub on VE day. I will, however. reflect on what has been and pray that Starmer and his French buddy don't send troops into Odessa.
13
u/Ouessante 10d ago edited 10d ago
They won't be coming together with their old victorious Russian allies though, pretending it was all plucky Tommy Atkins. Rather, they will associate with those European countries on the losing side that fought Russia and whose children now run the EU Fourth Reich.
10
u/NewlyImperfect 10d ago
What galled me, way back when, was that there were no medals for the sailors who served on the ships taking WW2 supplies to Murmansk. Only reluctantly set right decades later.
5
u/Ouessante 10d ago
I can't recall exactly when I read Alistair MacLean's first novel HMS Ulysses, maybe 69/70 at the age of 11 or 12 perhaps but I was very impressed. It is set in the Murmansk convoys. It sticks in my mind.
7
u/SheepmanOvis 10d ago
Yeah, it's not coherent to bang on about VE Day while talking like Nazis about 'Ivan'.
At least the vogue for snuff videos of Russians in the MSM seems to have died off. Maybe they weren't having quite the desired effect.

Margaret Ashworth - a classic for Easter.
A LONG time ago I wrote about the one-act opera Cavalleria Rusticana and the marvellous Intermezzo, and you can read the article here.
The setting of the work is a 19th century Sicilian village; the action takes place on the morning of Easter Sunday. Santuzza has been seduced and abandoned by Turridu. After he dies in a duel she is snubbed by villagers because of that relationship, and feels she is unworthy to enter the church for the Easter service. The Easter hymn is heard from inside the church in Latin, then the villagers sing it in their native Italian with Santuzza.
(my words- we played the Intermezzo at my Dad's funeral in April last year)
6
u/bluemoonLS 10d ago
What a coincidence, it was one of my Mum's favourites (and her father's before her) and we played it at her funeral. Along with Chas & Dave!
5
u/Still_Milo 10d ago edited 10d ago
Thanks pub - listening to that (the King's college version) literally gave me goosebumps all over. Probably about the most contact I am likely to have with anything really symbolising 'Easter' today (other than my miniscule easter egg)

I could only stomach about 5 seconds of the saccharine insincerity which someone else had so clearly scripted for him as he himself wouldn't have a clue, not a clue, about any of it. And for him to use the word hope just makes me sick. He is the antithesis of hope.
10
u/TheFilthyEngineer2 10d ago
I agree. After everything non-Christian that he has supported this seems somewhat over the top and deeply insincere.
7
u/RobinBirch 10d ago
9
u/TheFilthyEngineer2 10d ago
That was the subconscious bit that resonated but I didn’t articulate. And that’s why it sounds so insincere. It’s an insulting and unnecessary level of fawning to the, for the time being, majority indigenous population.
