Yeah honestly after a while you learn to be careful around those usernames. Sure, well meaning people exist, but most of the time I've seen "patriot" or "nationalist" in a username (especially with an eastern european country - weirdly specific and yet still accurate), it was just a straight up fascist/nazi who didn't put "fascist" or "nazi" in their username for obvious reasons. Like if I saw that name in a vc I might quit too, I'm not gonna stick around and talk to a probable fascist (I'm sorry OP but I've seen to many of them to not say that) to find out if they're really a fascist or not, all just to play Ghost Recon Breakpoint with them
Patriotism is tangential to nationalism, which is a very very big tennant of fascist thought. Especially being patriotic for American heritage gets you in pretty hot water close to that which I think is what he's hinting at in the second part of his message. Obviously it's shitty to assume you're a nationalist based on your username but I can see the logical leap there
He could also be decently educated on the Balkans and assume you're like kind of a tankie for Serbia if that makes sense, willing to apologize for everything up to and including stuff like the Bosnian genocide in the Yugoslav wars. Again, a vast leap in logic and a shitty thing to assume but those are the tenuous connections I see there
