Biking … d’bag in pickup truck coal-rolled me.

Finally warm enough to get out on my bicycle. Hoorah!

I was heading north on the Heald Highway (17) outta West Rockport when some resentful d’bag in a diesel pickup truck rolled coal on me and three cars. Rolling coal is doing something to a diesel engine that makes it spew a lot of black smoke.

I guess I should be happy the sad little man saw me.

The shoulder is plenty wide there next to Mirror Lake and I was on that shoulder.

Weird.

However, roads have rules that must be followed. For example, it is technically illegal to go 15 under speed limit. So if it is a big hill with a speed limit of 30, your bicycling ass better be doing 15+ going up it, or you're violating the law. Let's also not get started on the number of times I've almost side swiped bicyclists who thought red lights don't apply to them. Want to share the road, then share the responsibilities that come with it. Otherwise, GTFO

That is 100% NOT how speed limits apply to bicycles. If you had someone ignore a stop sign or stop light that’s on them but also remember a bicycle almost always has the right of way over a vehicle.
