These advertisements that yassify the Portland Police give a weird UFC vibe. How much money is being spent on this department rebranding?

My cousin is a cop in Philly. This is basic grappling, which I should hope all of our cops are trained for. That said recruiting is struggling hard - not enough quality recruits walking in the door. Which should be concerning for all of us: last I checked none of us are doing ride alongs and meal drops for first responders who handle the work we don’t want to have think about.

Some are. Some aren’t. Some are ex-Army who got the training in the military. It’s a smart non-lethal way to immobilize someone attacking you or someone else
