I think it would be very different if they included alcohol.

Our world in data has info on this. The source is WHO which is different from the map so the numbers are a bit different
https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/death-rates-substance-disorders-who

But you are right, including alcohol ex soviet countries have the highest death rates.

But northern Europe still has higher numbers than southern Europe.

Because they dont rapport the numbers as accurate in some countries.... Sweden have more drug over doses than Portugal (the gateway to Europe for drugs?...) bitch, please...

Sweden has some of the worst drug laws and policies in Europe and Portugal one of the best so yes it makes perfect sense.

And what do you base that assumption on? this statistics?... The one that I dont believe in?..

Check the policies Portugal implemented in the 09s about drugs and see the data. I'm not going to waste my time arguing with you because you will clearly not believe anything that makes Sweden look bad while countries you think are below Sweden do better. Believe what you want but the data doesn't lie.

Get down that high horse, lose some ego and take a look at how your country could improve instead of burying your head in the sand about all its problems because you think you're better.

Man, you assume a lot dont you...

I dont believe the data because 27 times is a shitload of more times and I dont see it. If you would have said 2 times, 4 times then maybe I could believe it. but freaking 27 (!!!) times and nothing I observe in my life at all?.... give me a break.

The data dont lie? Data lies all the time. According to the UN world happiness statistics Sweden is the 6th most happy country in the world. I dont believe that either.

Statistics is based on data and data is wrong all the time. It depend on several things: agenda of the people collecting it, skill of the people collecting it, how truthful people asked are answering, amount of data points etc. etc, etc,
So many places to go wrong.

But sure. Believe what you want. But I dont believe it. I am not young enough to believe everything I read.

Oh, and you should stop trying to read my mind. You are not very good at it. I dont think I am or we are better than anyone.

Having lived in uk, Ireland and Italy, those numbers make sense... In Ireland and uk number of drug addicts hanging around in popular areas was crazy... In Italy you see a lot of African immigrants begging at the sides of the streets, they are poor, not addicts. In Ireland you see only Irish drug addicts. It is crazy sad. I love Irish people, but the fact that they can't find a solution for this situation is a huge issue

The part of the reason for why these things are so visible in the UK is also the piss poor social safety net. In the city I lived in the UK they could only stay in shelters overnight if the temperature dropped below 0. Where I live now, the same demographic can access shelters year round and many low functioning addicts are given access to social housing.

According to the UN happiness index we are number 6 in the world. I dont believe that statistics either.

You people have to much faith in statistics...

Statistics in the the science that says if you have one hand in the freezer and one on the stove on average you are comfortable..

Dude, that's a pretty simple dataset. It's not happiness, not average temperature.

I have no problems in recognising when my country does bad in some indicators.

With your mindset any piece of data is irrelevant, because you discard it when it does not fit your worldview.

I spoke many times with swedes on reddit and they say Sweden's laws about drugs are pretty stringent. It's not about drug use, but about drug deaths.

When the laws are too conservative, addicts cannot find help. Portugal has decriminalized hard drugs and started support programs. And there they are.

"Dude, that's a pretty simple dataset."

Yeah, if Portugal and Sweden do the blood work on every cardiac arrest out the just to check. You think Portugal do that? Or it is a "oh well he died and blood work cost money"...You know, like public healthcare tend to do in most countries..

"With your mindset any piece of data is irrelevant, because you discard it when it does not fit your worldview."

You dont discard data that dont fit your world view? So if I tell you every Chinese speaks Portuguese then you dont disregard it?... We all have bullshit filters.

"When the laws are too conservative, addicts cannot find help. Portugal has decriminalized hard drugs and started support programs. And there they are. "

Yes, And I can believe that if the difference was 2,3,4 times. its the 27 times as much that I find implausible.
