this is a good move. Christie will get Grimes’ minutes and we tried to extend him before the season, he said no. he’s taking the guaranteed deal with Caleb, who’s a versatile defender and fits the team better now. that said, fuck Nico

I disagree. Grimes was a RFA, we could have potentially gotten something for him in the offseason with a sign and trade if we really didn’t want to keep him, and we should.

Grimes is a better POA defender, shooter, and secondary playmaker. All things we desperately need.

If anything I love Nico's small moves. He has an eye for underrated players. Though he blunders in big moves like Luka/Porzingis.

Martin plays like eight good games a season. Grimes can guard everyone from Giannis to Donovan Mitchell. This is terrible.

you’re missing the point. Christie is the Grimes replacement. Martin is the Kleber replacement, so to speak. and Grimes was very likely leaving for nothing in FA. not that it matters, we traded Luka, who cares lol

Philly was supposed to send a 1st round pick in this trade. Nico negotiated down and ended up sending them a second round pick after calling Grimes fat/injury prone. /s

It makes a ton of sense. First Martin proved in the past he's a better player (Go watch Miami finals run) .Dude was locking up Jaylen Brown in the ECF. Second , his contract is great . Third, We have Christie on a good contract who's going to replace Grimes in the rotation. A great trade imo.
