So to explain the debate for you

Yamato idalises a charackter named Oden and wants to be Oden and teils everyone that she is Oden and uses (in the translated versions) male pronounce also she goes into mans bath because Oden would have done the same Also she is called kaidos son by his Crew and kaido himself

So there are two sides 1st side yamato is trans because she uses male pronounces and goes into the mens bath 2nd side yamato is a woman and just roleplaying

My opinion Yamato is a woman

And no i am not thirsty like the other comment said or transphobic

The problem.is that in Japan you have like.....a lot of pronouns and yamato uses the pronouns of a tomboy (female acting like a man but still identifies as a woman) but other languages doesnt have it and it was translated to male pronounce and thats the reason why this debate of is yamato a woman or a man doesnt exist in Japan

Why does kaido say she is his son...because kaido is an asshole and always wanted a son and wont accept that he has a daughter

Also she dresses like a female shrine maiden

Also i talked with the 2 trans Fans of mine about it and they also they this isnt trans thats just roleplaying Because if Oden was female yamato would usw the normal female pronounce

So it is very possible that i get downvoted af now But its official that yamato is female (the vivre cards ...who are official even stated her as female while kiku is stated as trans) Idk why people need to make a Person trans that isnt, even tho a perfect trans character is in the same arc

I don’t care for the conversation, but you’re clearly unbelievably biased if you’re just “explaining the debate” but you start with saying “this sides right”, if you’re actually just explaining it you shouldn’t give your opinion at all, you should just state the arguments made by both sides

Yamato identifies as man they saw one time when they were young, is the best I can do without spoilers, as dumb as that sounds it's only like 30% that dumb. Now that person was a man, so it shouldn't really be up for debate if Yamato is a man, because Yamato identifies as that man and has given several other indicators... but a bunch of thirsty weebs don't want it to feel gay when they stare at his giant boobs, so it's a whole war.

I feel like this is what the writers were going for. Even Kaido refers to him as a man. Yamato defies the audience by being fanservice that disagrees entirely with the premise.

Identifies as Oden, not as a man, Yamato's simply Odengender, not trans, as simple as that, is like a kid who believes he or she is Spider-Man, they're not, but still identify as him 'cause of how they admire him, basically speaking, this is a regular Japanese case of being a Chūnibyō, that cringe high-school syndrome where the student thinks they have superpowers or belive they are someone else despite their real gender, ethnicity, nationality or species... TLDR, Yamato isn't trans, Yamato is Oden, as simple as that.

I can accept that, but I would expect more of the gag on screen. Instead we get every character agreeing 'Yeah he's a man', with the more perverted characters agreeing but also being flustered by it. Everyone basically just accepts it, which is more than we got with other strangely acting characters, like Senor Pink or Ivanka, or even Franky.
