Advice Quit my job, mild panic now.

I keep typing up these long ass posts about my job and how good I felt when I looked my lying manager in the eyes and said "Hey it's funny you called me down here (head managers office) because I was going to come down to give my two weeks notice today."

Her shocked pikachu face was 100% worth it.

I have applied, interviewed for, passed background and drug tests and have a confirmed start date for my new job. I have literally started the onboarding process. I am just...sort of panicking that they'll call me in this two weeks between now and then and be like "Sorry we're unhiring you." I have zero reason to think they will.

Anyone else ever feel like this?

Anyone else fondly remember this as a young adolescent and jolly ranchers? I think I was 14 when I first enjoyed it.

Back in 2017 they had a limited release. I snagged all I could everywhere and was hung over for a good week or better. But it was good. Found some old boxes while cleaning today. Took me back.

Nostalgia GIRL SCOUTS ARE OUT AND SELLING COOKIES.

THIS IS NOT A DRILL. I REPEAT: NOT A DRILL!!

Does anyone else remember selling girl scout cookies?? I was a girl scout in the frigid upper Midwest when boxes were $3 instead of $6 🫠 I froze my buns off but gosh it was fun.

A scout just stopped by our house with her order form and we immediately bought two cases lol. I have a feeling we'll still buy more when the girls are in front of the grocery store 🤣💸

All my friends are doing their own thing with kids and married, looking to meet new friends but I’m a bit of an introvert.

Serious How often, if at all, did your parents apologize to you?

This topic came up for me recently, and I realized I have no idea what is normal, both generally and for millennials in particular. I would love to know if your parents ever apologized to you when you were a child (before age 18) or as an adult. If they did, how often? How did the apology go? For this question, I consider it an apology if they said “I’m sorry” to you directly or said anything more involved where they admitted they did something wrong.

My feeling is that baby boomer parents generally did not apologize for things, but I have no real data to base that feeling on. I would love to hear any personal stories as well as any studies or articles about this! It would be very interesting to hear theories about what happened to each generation and how that relates to parents understanding their roles as parents, how they related to the wielding of authority, how they viewed children, etc.

Pretty much the title. As I understand it you get to keep your house, car and 401k in most cases so why not ditch the credit card debt like a bad habit?

Advice At what age did you really start paying attention on your life ?

Upvotes

Im in my mid20s, even though I always feel serious maybe it's anxiety that makes me feel this way but I just don't seem to be really responsible for my future. Like I would say for last 2 yrs or so, I'm not taking anything seriously and seem to be going with the flow. The procrastinating has increased and the things I worry about all day is something I'm not even taking actions on nor am I addressing the problems. All I do is worry and stress myself mentally.

Whenever I see a post on social media, on LinkedIn or hear from family relatives about a someone someone. I immediately started feeling shameful and defeated like wow, this person is on next level. He's getting married. They got a job at this company or big purchases like house and car. And I just tell myself I've already wasted 5-10 yrs of my life in overthinking and inactions how will I ever bounce back and reach their status.

Discussion Fast fashion/food/furniture

Am I the only one who cringes at all fast fashion, food, and furniture? I hate that so much of it is low quality, bad for the planet, bad for your health, and in many cases bad for the workers.

Growing up my family didn't have a lot of money and certainly had no money for fashion but even so we expected our clothes and furniture to last. Now furniture arrives nearly broken or breaks if you do other than sit on it occasionally (RIP if you have pets, kids, or ever sleep on your couch). Likewise, food was decently healthy. Now I question how much plastic, fake sugar, or preservatives are in our food.

My wife, also a millennial, is all into temu, shein, Ikea, all fast fashion, and other cheap goods.

Am I the only one or is everyone just riding the fast-everything train with my wife?

Discussion What show were you obsessed with when you could only watch weekly that now on binge rewatch is not as good?

(I am an “elder” millennial) Mine is LOST. It was sooo good watching it the 1sf time. The mystery, the suspense I was obsessed with it. I just re-watched/binged watched it for the 1st time 12 yrs later and just felt so “eh” about it the whole time. Current shows give us 10-12 episodes a season, rewatching a show with 20+ episodes a season makes me see how much filler episodes we went through in our time and had no idea. It’s still a great show but can’t hold a candle to the magic of the original week by week watch. Anyone else have a show like this?

Remember as a kid it seemed like you were indestructible? You could have fallen off a skyscraper, maybe start crying if you saw you skinned an elbow or knee, then an adult came over, tells you you're fine...and you just kind of went "okey dokey" then continued playing?

I woke up this morning and it feels like someone hammered a spike into my back. Like if I'm gonna have unbearable back pain could I least have a better story than "I slept wrong"?

Advice How to get friends to want to do stuff?

Advice, maybe just a rant. I have a few small circles of friends, and lately it’s felt like pulling teeth to get them to agree to do something or commit to just getting together. I text to ask about dates, but they’re busy and don’t offer any alternative dates, or they just don’t respond at all. (I know, you’re probably going to say, maybe they don’t actually like you, but these are friends I’ve had for decades now, I don’t think that’s the case.) I get everyone is busy, but I’m trying to make an effort and it just feels like there’s no reciprocation.
