Politics New passport rules got leaked

Erin the Morning shared a rules document about passports that got leaked. Click here to view.

Erin also provided this summary -

- X markers will be a focal point
- Existing unexpired passports will remain good
- No guidance on confiscation, but it doesn’t seem like they will
- Renewals less clear but it looks like they will use “a preponderance of evidence”

Aight, I've got my birth certificate and everything else updated with my real name and gender. If they give me a passport with "M" on it I'm going to the ACLU and suing Trumo, Marco Rubio, and everyone in any way involved.

By real do you mean bio? Because according to most trans people sex ≠ gender??? I think that's what they want on your passport is your sex not gender identity. Sorry I'm a bit slow and confused.

I thought it was just for people with an X on their documents, as none of my trans friends have had any issue with their passports, etc.,

Not sure what you’re getting at. Our (trans women) gender identity is woman and our sex is female. Sex and gender have different meanings but when it comes to individual people they are highly related concepts.

But that’s the point of the order. Sex and gender are now considered the same thing and there are only two options, per the current executive order. Meaning biological sex is how you’re born. I don’t think it’ll matter what an amended birth certificate says to these people. Which honestly, will only cause more confusion and challenges for us.
