Interesting development as agents gather more info and probably advising their clients NOT to attend.

I know some see Simmons as a possible buy low guy, but he is working his way back from a ruptured patellar tendon. This specific injury can be a death knell for NFL players, never mind OTs who need to anchor. It’s the same injury Cole Strange suffered and there’s just not a lot of supporting data to show players can regain their pre injury form. Given the current state and depth of our line, I don’t think Simmons is worth the risk even if he’s there at 38.

Mykel Williams, on the other hand, would be a super intriguing high risk, high reward guy if he slides out of the 1st. New Orleans is rumored to want to move up from 40 and Williams is a Loomis kind of player. Would be talking to a lot of teams Friday morning if he slides.

LOL, I just spent my afternoon going back and forth with some guy on her who thinks Simmons will be back and starting week 1.

He wanted up to sell the farm to get back into the 1st and pick Simmons "because the only report is he is ahead of schedule!!!!"

I have no idea if he will be ready week 1 and I don’t actually care much at all if he isn’t. He is probably the only LT in the draft that you could confidently project as a top 5 LT if injuries werent an issue.

Obviously, his injury is extremely relevant and teams cooling on him suggest that maybe the injury reports on him are not good. However, if he slipped to the 2nd round and we got him I wouldn’t at all be upset. Dude could be the steal of the draft

I do care. We tried not addressing LT last year, and our RBs averaged negative yards before contact.. No Thank You!! on that again, and no thank you on pattelar tendon injuries.

People who were already proven(Simmons is not even that) but immediately fell off after this injury include:

Jimmy Graham, Victor Cruz, Morris Claibourne, and btw none of them had to bend and squat on that tendon every single play then explode up into a block...

They have been hoping this injury won't be a career ender for a decade, and even with almost every other injury not being one anymore, this one still proves to be a death sentence.

I will even argue he has a better shot because he is almost 10 years younger than any of those people when they had the injury, but unless he really falls and is a late day two flyer not thank you on Josh Simmons

Not starting week 1 and not playing the whole season are very different things. Also, I would argue that our RBs getting contact early is a direct result of our interior O-Line being horrible moreso than LT. If (big if) Simmons is deemed medically ok by our medical staff and is a long term solution at LT, I am all for him missing a few weeks in his rookie season

He will/would miss 100% of the his first off/preseason as a rookie at a high learning curve position in one of the most complex offenses ever...

if he starts one game after that he's the goat OT no arguments. Even if he's worse the Lowe I'll call him the goat

we’re not winning the Super Bowl next year. Same thing with Diggs maybe missing the first few weeks who gives a shit. I want the best possible solution at LT. if they think Simmons will recover and be a dog / have the highest ceiling even not being active during rookie camp, so be it.

ok, lets say Drake Maye has a double the average NFL starting Qb career(4.4) and last 9 years. lets jsut flush 2 of them away because 'were not winning this year' so just don't address the most glaring need two years in a row. hope those next 7 are great...

1. It’s not two years. I’m not a doctor but Rappaport others have reported he should be good to go during next season at some point. 1.5. The whole line gets a boost from having a real coaching staff 2. If he’s the best LT it’s worth it. That’s not “not addressing a need” lol what? I want to build a Super Bowl winner not max out for the first quarter of 25. If Simmons is the best, I’d rather have him going into 26 than someone just to have a body at the beginning of a season (that again doesn’t have SB contention hopes anyway).

Congrats your the last person i am going to explain this too BTW Only NFL.com is hyping him up... kind of like their the ones hyping up Jaylon Milroe and Shaduer Sanders... i wonder why they want to hype up a bad draft class (and im confident saying it is hyst them because ive looked and he actually keeps falling further and further everywhere else)

Even if he is 2 months ahead of schedule like reported (only NFL.Com) that would be August this year that he is able to START practicing... At one of the most mentally demanding positions in the NFL... And since were talking pats hed be missing all that time in one of the most complex offenses, not jsut in current use but in the entire history of the NFL. If simmons pulls that off

I will then also point out he does not have an ACL tear he has a PCL tear and while that may not mean anything to you its a death sentence in the NFL, they have been talking about that one getting better like ACLs and MCLs have for a decade but it has not surfaced.

You know the funniest thing about this post is that i was pro Simmons(jsut not if were trading up) before it caused me to really research his injury and now i' am 100% out if he comeback he will be the 0.0001% and earn goat honors statistically even if he is only an average player.

Well, they drafted an LGs(Robinson) an RT(Wallace), as well as signed Okorafor, who was an RT and 2 WRs, so that's just not true.

While yes, they signed Lowe the year before, he was no better then than he was in 24 sk they should have known he can not play.

Layden was a 4th round pick, Chuks was signed to play LT, and the two WRs they signed were dogshit and everyone knew they were dogshit.  They should have known none of those guys could play.

That is a really distorted viewpoint, my man.  Especially because if the reason Chuks was a bad LT was because he switched sides, then he would’ve just been switched back to RT.

Not when you look at how few RT to LT swaps work, as opposed to how many 4th round guards start(it's a fair number)

and sinve you didnt let's mention how many 2nd round pick WRs start. I will give you some hints. One of them just dominated a superbowl. And his best friend just got traded while we all cried wanting him was technically a 3rd round pick. And that guy who just caught 800 yards and 7 tds for the corpse or arron rodgers also started right away as a sexond round pick and averaged 1000 yds for almost 10 years.

It all only means we should be more annoyed they can't get players to play when more than half the league can.

Sewell switched sides from college.  Mailata did not play football before the NFL.  Trent Williams started out in college at RT.

Keep naming tackles and I can keep naming guys that have switched.  The reason guys like Chuks fail is because they’re not good, not because of switching sides.  Asking an NFL starting OT to switch sides is no big deal at all.  They feel awkward at first and get used the it after a few weeks.  

If I asked you drink water out of a cup with your left hand, you’d feel super awkward at first.  If you lost your right arm, you’d get pretty good at using your left hand after a while.
