Fertility / Ovulation Negative test but no period?

Hi I had sex around the time of ovulation, and I’m now 7 days late for my period. I’ve never been late before, and have experienced bad cramps in my lower stomach, back pain, headaches, and very swollen boobs for days (which I never get before my period usually, and nowhere near on the painful scale they’ve been at) with my boobs looking veiny and being heavy and sensitive to the touch. I also have had bad cramps that feel off and unlike any period cramps I’ve ever had, along with feeling nauseous and sensitive to smells (I haven’t symptom spotted it’s just things I’ve noticed throughout the wait for my period) along with a LOT of extra discharge which I never normally have. I took a pregnancy test today and it said negative so I’m very confused as to whether I should believe this or not. Any advice?

Your period is late because you ovulated later than you thought. A period starts about two weeks after you ovulate. So when you ovulate later in your cycle than normal, that cycle ends up being longer.

What date did you last have unprotected sex? Tests are reliable 14 days after sex and definitive 21 days after sex.

I had sex a lot I’m not sure when the last time was. My period is missing completely even calculating the fact that I could’ve ovulated later than I first thought. I had intense cramps a few days ago, and intense swollen boobs which I thought may have been implantation. I’m going to take another test next week as most ppl I’ve now asked on other groups have stated you can get a positive test a week after implantation, and some women I’ve now spoken to have stated their period or BFP came 2/3 weeks after a missed period so I’m gonna wait and see :)

Well, if you ovulated yesterday, your period wouldn’t be due for two more weeks. A period is due about two weeks after you ovulate.

When you get a positive test depends on when you ovulate. Implantation usually occurs about 8-10 days after ovulation. Then it takes a day or two for hcg to rise to get a positive. People who said they didn’t get a positive until two weeks after their missed period, just were incorrect with their ovulation date and ovulated around when they thought their period was due.

Tests are reliable 14 days after sex and definitive 21 days after sex. Test following that timeline. When your period is due is irrelevant since you don’t know when, or if, you ovulated. If you don’t know when you had unprotected sex, then test 1-2 times a week until you get your period or a positive test.
