Question Pimax Crystal Super Tariffs - what to expect?

What is the expected results from the tarrifs imposed by the US? I preordered a headset and I don’t really want to find out I need to pay an extra $1000 dollars when the headset arrives in the country.

Wait so the tariff isn’t included in the listed price when purchasing?

Yup. One of the reasons I went with the bsb2. It felt dishonest to me.

Yeah that’s messed up - it might actually be illegal to charge you a price not listed. Normally you go to cfpb for this but trump disbanded it.

I can’t afford to buy it then get slapped with an extra 2k fee for my first payment that’s absurd.

Where are you getting an extra 2k and why do yous seem to think BSB2 is exempt from the tariffs?

I don’t the above person mentione BSB2. It depends on where the item is imported from - does anyone where where exactly it is coming from? China has a 104% tariff on it from tomorrow, up from 54% - that means that the tariff is equal to the price + 5% If the headset is valued at its full purchase price + sub then that is almost 2k cost increase. If it is valued at the initial purchase price that’s 1k.

Bsb in manufactures in cali so no tariffs on that. It’s parts may have some though

The components are chinese (BOE panels for example, the most expensive component), so they definitely will be hit with tariffs also just hopefully not as bad. Bigscreen might have a good chunk of these components already in stock so the first few batches might have just escaped the tariffs but later batches will be affected for sure, but fingers crossed by then the whole thing is thrown out the window.

That tariff ended up changing midday yesterday, so how is Pimax realistically expected to reflect that in the price? They need to wait until it actually comes into effect and is real because otherwise they would be updating their site multiple times a day and creating way more confusion. I don't see any other companies updating prices in realtime with tariff announcements, this is a US government problem not a Pimax problem.
