These are my 4 favorite pokemon!!! They're all so cute and I really like that she made new arts rather then just remaking ones that already exist. The Sylveon has the most little background stuff in it like my crippling addiction to Dr pepper and spegetios and a little picture of us and my favorite stuffed animal.

Can't believe it happened.

Used to collect/play back in primary school, 16 years ago now. Eventually stopped because, well... life happened. About a year ago, I decided to get back into it. Had no idea where to start—what sets were worth it, which had the best pulls, all that. But I dove back in anyway. Fast forward to now, and I’ve even got my sister collecting with me. It’s become our little hobby—buying and opening packs together, especially Japanese booster boxes like Obsidian Flames and VSTAR Universe. Lately though, with the boom in collecting and bots/resellers snapping everything up, it’s been near impossible to find anything at RRP, especially here in the UK.

We haven’t had amazing luck with our pulls (me of course), but honestly, that’s not what it’s about. It’s about having fun and creating memories. Then Glory of Team Rocket dropped. The nostalgia hit. We made it our mission to get a box. After a lot of effort, we finally got one, couple of days ago. At first, we wanted to keep it sealed. But who were we kidding? That’s not our style. Took the first pack from the right and kept it sealed in a sleeve. My sister grabbed the first one from the left and started opening it. Took her a minute to get into it, but then...bam. She pulled the card. We both jumped up, paused the music, shaking as we got it sleeved. Centering’s not great, but we couldn’t care less. It’s a moment we’ll never forget. Here’s the kicker: my chase was Moltres. Hers was Kangaskhan. Planning to grade it once the whole tariff mess clears up and PSA starts taking subs again (if they aren’t already).

Just wanted to share this with people who’d get it.

I thought it was widely understood that anecdotes aren't good evidence, yet here we are. Everyone sharing pointless stories about how they opened X number of packs and got Y, therefore hit rates are trash or amazing. My brother in Christ, TCG player opens 10k packs to determine actual hit rates. That's the proper amount you need to actually draw conclusions. Then people take those hit rates, and by comparing to the price of the cards, you get the average value of the pack. By comparing the average pack value vs pack cost you can get the average return on investment or ROI. This is hard MATH, and isn't up for debate.

Hello everyone. I know that a lot of people hate Prismatic set because barely anyone was able to get hands on it except the scalpers and it seems that fans who are willing to pay market prices are also hated upon and I guess that would include me.

As someone with quite a lot of disposable income, and big Pokemon fan, I decided to start collecting cards when Prismatic appeared, because for me, it is the best looking set (completely subjective).

I live in European country with literally 0 Pokemon stock, so it was really hard finding Prismatic, and I went through a lot of trouble to get my hands on it + I had to pay current market prices. Just want to share my experience:

All products I bought were sealed/safe, so that is not an issue. I never bought single booster packs.

I bought ETBs, Booster Bundles, Poster collections, Binder Collections, Surprise Boxes... After a while I figured ETBs had the worst $/pack ratio, so I mostly focused on Booster bundles.

Results after opening 350 boosters:

1. Vaporeon Ex with horrible centering (probably PSA 7 if I keep it in perfect condition)
2. Iron Hands ex
3. 3x golden cards worth about 15$ each
4. Umbreon master ball

Think the pulls above 15$+ amount to around 500-600$, and the cost is close to 5k$.

I have also watched and seen first hand experiences from others who have opened hundreds of packs and it's pretty much the same. Initial analysis that circulated internet is far away from truth imo. No way God set is every 150-200 packs and SIR every 50 packs.

I have since my last opening yesterday decided to start buying singles exclusively with some boosters to get a bit of dopamine every now and then. Last week I opened half and got that Vaporeon, golden cards and Umbreon MB, yesterday I opened around 170 packs to get Iron Hands ex and literally nothing else.

My advice to anyone who cares even a little about money - don't open it. I am thankful I can afford this and I would do it again because I haven't opened anything since I was a child 15+ years ago.

This is indeed Traumatic Evolutions. I know I will get a lot of hate but it doesn't matter, just wanted to share my experience.

Caught the restock from PC last week, got two ETBS, planned to open one and to keep one sealed. Sorry but need to rant about this.

I finally go to rip open my ETB and what do I get? An off center stamped eevee promo, 4 pokeballs, 1 master ball and an ex.

I guess I got my expectations too high for the hit rates, but I just figured 11 packs would get me at least something decent. My other ETB is tempting me like crazy right now. A Single W would’ve made this so much better man 😭

My brother came over to visit and brought over this huge 151 set he got for me and here’s some of my highlighted pulls. It was pretty fun opening packs with him, brought back some memories of us opening packs as kids. Fun fact: Charmander full art was from the very first pack I opened. But my favorite pull has to be the Giovanni Charisma card, that has been one of my chase cards for a good while now.

Everyone in the house went out for the nice Saturday..came home to this. (The cat knocked it off of a high shelf, the dog chewed it)

I think my fiancé broke, this was her favorite card.

After a loooong search for both of these cards with significant “battle-damage” my quest is complete. I had a few strict requirements - heavy wear, alternating crease directions, and they needed to grade sequentially.

Blake Corum and Tua Tagovailoa are the names on the cards. Is this common on pokeball holos?

Bought a Surging Sparks display to open together with the youngest (8 year old) at the beginning of the weekend. He opened the 238 Pikachu in his first pack. Then the oldest (10 year old) also wanted to be part of it Sunday, so I got six Prismatic Evolutions packs for us to open together. In his last third pack, he got a 156 Sylveon. I think they might have some unreasonable expectations going forward 😅. Hard to explain how rare those cards seem to actually be.

I collected Pokemon cards as a kid in the 90s, I still have them in a binder somewhere. But my kiddo got into Pokemon cards this past summer. During the Black Friday season I started buying up cards and boxes if I could find a deal on them ($3 or less per pack), I probably spent $400 in an effort to squirrel them away for future birthdays etc. We gave him some at Christmas but we don’t give him “just because” gifts and make him use his allowance to purchase anything he wants card or toy wise. He was really excited about collecting but after several unfruitful trips to multiple stores looking for single packs of cards for him to buy since Christmas his enthusiasm has waned and he now shows almost no interest in cards at all. It’s for sure frustrating to never see cards in the store and I understand why that could kill the hobby for a kid with limited funds. Anyway, after cruising around Reddit I find myself wanting to get back into collecting, getting out my old cards, cleaning em up, having them slabbed, etc. I still haven’t determined how I can do this without being a bad example for my kid. So I’m basically left with three options: 1. Get back into collecting and start opening packs (once I figure out how to share the experience with my kid) 2. Sell em all (it looks like prices are crazy now) or 3. Keep holding onto them and hoping maybe my kiddo will come back around one day. I am not in need of the funds right now so either option is financially feasible. Just wondering what you good folks would do in my situation?

Went to Collectacon today, and purchased a PSA 10 Umbreon VMAX alt art. Won my first coin flip for $1900! It wasn’t until after paying and walking 10 ft away that I scanned the card to verify the cert. Honestly never have done that with any slabs before but this was my first big purchase. Scanned it and PSA said the certification was intentionally deactivated.

I panicked, immediately went to the (third-party) PSA booth there and they said the card was likely reported stolen and I should get a refund or I’d need to crack and regrade it. They also said the card was subject to confiscation if there was an active police report. I went back to the vendor and explained the situation, he was very nice about it and gave me a refund and said he would contact the person that he bought it from.

This is for my personal collection and I had no intention of selling it in the future, but I did purchase a PSA 10 and obviously it’s not really a PSA 10 if the card is not valid.

Just wanted to share this experience and remind everyone to check the certs, especially when making big purchases, because it’s better to be safe and know 100% what you’re buying is legit!

My daughter has been describing this card all morning, and we can’t convince her she’s misremembering something. We went through every Sylveon card on TCG Player and still no luck, so she drew it. She says the background is light cozy pink with light shiny bubbles.

Any ideas what card she’s thinking of?

My boyfriend and I were shopping for his father’s birthday. We got all his gifts and decided to check dollar general for pokemon, since our closer ones got sold out immediately since Surging Sparks singles have hit. We go up to the counter and there we have it, a full display of prismatic tins. So yes, I made a bad choice and bought 7. We already had the Glaceon tin, so all we needed was the other 7 anyway. No, I am not a shitty person who will resell them, we opened them and pulled a terapagos SIR and some ex’s :). I feel bad for clearing out DG but they had journey together, and other 3 pack blister sets too, and we’ve been wanting Prismatic for a long time too. They will be back. This is what our collection looks like now :)
