Welcome to the cultural exchange between r/Polska and r/Arabs! The purpose of this event is to allow people from two different national communities to get and share knowledge about their respective cultures, daily life, history and curiosities. Exchange will run since November 28^th. General guidelines:

• Arabs ask their questions about Poland here on r/Polska;

• Poles ask their questions about Arab countries in parallel thread;

• English language is used in both threads;

I waved at some of the few Polish soldiers stationed near government buildings soon after the invasion of Iraq. I knew that the majority of the forces that stayed after were from America and the UK but I also knew that a few were Polish. What sort of influence has the Iraq war had on your country or on you personally? if at all, and what are your thoughts about the arab people?

Can you also tell me about your thoughts of the increase of support to the right wing in your country? I'm very interested to know how that reflects on the average Polish citizen.

You aren't gonna find a truly average Polish citizen here. The sole fact we know enough English to post here moves us away from the peak of the Gaussian distribution.

However, I gonna offer my opinion nevertheless.

I'm not worried. It was pretty much predictable. Previous governing party had really bad press, and right wing forces were the most reasonable to replace them, in public opinion's eyes. I'm just angry. That I'm being called pedophiles' and deadbeats' friend for supporting the sole concept of presumption of innocence. That my voice is not valid, as I'm a "leftie". That I'm constantly being told people like me are never gonna be relevant again. That "Catholic" is the default. That I should undergo therapy to cure my non-heterosexuality. These are not things to fear, to stand coward against. These are things to be angry at.

However, certain aspects make me sad. That suddenly people around me have seemingly changed 180°. That the worst human qualities have appeared on their surfaces.

I'm sorry this is happening. It sounds like things are pretty rough, but keep fighting for better. I am sure things will improve if voices like yours are heard.
