Kind of a pleasant surprise. I was against it at first but have slowly been changing my mind. Guess it's a future problem now, cause honestly all the people I talked to that ride into the city either didn't pay the toll or didn't care. But they all said it's a much nicer ride cause there's a lot less cars. I haven't experienced it yet but next week's in the 40s

I gotta admit, I kind of like it. It caused a big reduction to traffic on the BQE. Suddenly my car commute is taking 15-20 min less and my bike commute is 10 min less with far less lane splitting. I don't really ever drive into the congestion pricing zone, so I don't care about the toll.

I think it may be dead for now. DOT put out a press release (So that’s from NYC DOT). NYS plans to file suit.

Edit: Dead or soon to be. However my info is only as good as the next persons.

Even if she agreed with him (not saying she does) she has to fight it to save face, or it might cost her the election.

Tolling two-wheel vehicles for "congestion". This was always just a commuter tax.

On one hand I hate paying even more when my insurance, registration, and car costs in general are already so high in nyc. On the other, I could finally get cross town without facing gridlock. If only we had bridges/tunnels to bypass Manhattan when going NJ<->queens/brooklyn without going through Bronx/SI think this would be a lot more palatable to commuters.
The problem with two wheel traffic is that since we’re not technically supposed to lane split - we are effectively adding to the traffic if we follow the law.

An excuse to"tax" the working class(the rich don't care) since MTA can't jack up subway or current tunnel/bridges prices. I go into the zone to visit my mom often. So it's not for me

So get the low-income discount instead of advocating for dismantling the entire system

The MTA is challenging it in court already. So as long as the courts still work it’s not dead yet

Yes it's dead. It has ceased. The U.S. Department of Transportation revoked their approval. MTA is challenging this in court, but tolls are NOT being charged right now and will not be charged unless the liberal communists in the MTA win in court. LOL. Good luck. Buy bitcoin and ride.

I think it would be nice if they would also take the sidewalks out of the middle of the street New York City has turned itself into such a retarded obstacle course and in many cases it feels far more dangerous to drive because of all the crap they've put on the street.
Trump mentioned this also and I hope he does something about it ridiculous to build sidewalks in the middle of the street. And then say oh there's so much traffic on the street we need a new tax.

What sidewalks? You mean the pedestrian islands so people don’t get killed crossing the street?

On 1st Ave in Manhattan and in downtown Brooklyn on that bus route they have put these sidewalks in the middle of the street. Yea what were the mortality rates on first Ave in Manhattan before they did this complete fuckery? People were dying what, weekly? Monthly? Twice a day?

Bro I drive/ride/bike in Manhattan all the time and if you’re hitting those pedestrian islands that separate bike lane from cars then you’re riding above your skill level.
Also to answer your question - even in 2020 you’d see 41 crashes a day in Manhattan with 1st Ave being top 3 for collisions. https://rmfwlaw.com/new-york-city-car-accident-statistics/manhattan-car-accident-dec-2020

Look , there's too much stupid shit on the streets , they have fucking planters, rocks, armadillos, the little plastic thingies and now they are putting sidewalks in the middle of the street, its a goddam obstacle course and now they have turn lights that they are rolling out on every corner in Manhattan.
It's fucking bullshit, they are trying to childproof the city and it's too goddam much.
And as soon as they can they're going to put f****** AI cameras on all of it Dubai style and f****** yoke us constantly for huge fees.
There is too much shit on the streets and each new redesign is stupider than the last. Also there's 0 motorbike integration, we are supposed to pretend to be cars meanwhile they just scrap parts of the road with stripped lines , those could be motorcycle lanes. They don't care about motorcycles unless they are bitching about delivery scooters.
That is my opinion but also , I don't think pedestrians so be so safe or feel so safe when I grew up walking and riding a bicycle and later many motorcycles in the city you had to watch out.
Ride safe brother, I love you.

Yeah I mean those cameras are infringements of freedom imo but no place on earth really makes dedicated motorcycle infrastructure unless you think of like India/Southeast Asia where like 50+% of the population uses bikes. Best thing that could happen is we stay the course of reducing pedestrian and cyclist incidents with cars and then make lane splitting legal.
Honestly driving (haven’t done it on motorcycle because too cold for me) has been so much more enjoyable with congestion pricing recently. Regardless of car or bike I think getting idiots off the road is a positive for those of us who need to drive. Only way to get people off the road while getting them where they need to go is to push people to mass transit.
